Some bad things:
- Customer services takes weeks to respond
- Making errors in tax withholdings on payroll
- Forcing you to keep your membership to access W2s or correct their mistakes
- Responding months later AFTER the federal filing deadlines have passed saying "we can't adjust, it's been past the deadline"
The last one is the most frustrating. Imagine getting responses every 3-5 days (mega slow already) then getting GHOSTED FOR THREE MONTHS as a business owner
Worse than Quickbooks
This was not resolved you guys literally robbed me of $14.00. I signed up and had a major issue you took over a week to get back to me at which point I couldn't wait I had to delete the account and resign up. of which I was charged twice because of your extremely slow response time. as a customer who came from QuickBooks because of their lack of customer service you're team has managed to make things even worse than QuickBooks which i thought was impossible.
Service is extremely poor
The customer service is extremely poor. There is no real assistance available, and the chat support is ineffective—it logs you out just when you need help. There is no direct phone number to contact for support. Funds are often withheld without any explanation or reasoning, and accounts can be locked or shut down without notice or justification. This company’s practices are unacceptable and should be addressed immediately.
If I can give it a Zero star, I would. It doesn't even deserve a one.
Please I need my refund back
24 December 2024 I have to send a transfer to my sister an amount of £33 she was unable to receive it due to her not using the phone number.. I have waited and wait its over a month I have not still received a refund. I wonder what kind of an institution is this? An institution robbing people daylight I would never recommend wave to anyone.. Please refund my money back. Stop robbery wave. No wonder, at the time of writing this, 81% of their reviews are only 1 star. I had a terrible experience with them as well.
Their software is glitchy and they don't respond to alerts about their software problems.
I would strongly advise against using Wave…
I would strongly advise against using Wave for invoicing and client management. After setting up my client in Wave and billing them for $300 with a second $1,400 proposal that was almost immediately accepted, Wave suddenly and without explanation closed my account and refunded my customer.
This was not only a massive inconvenience, but it also caused significant embarrassment for me with my client. What’s worse, their support team was unresponsive and unhelpful. Despite reaching out for an explanation, I was met with a complete lack of accountability or a clear reason for their actions.
I have since switched to FreshBooks, where I’ve received much better service and support. Wave’s mishandling of my account caused major disruptions in my business, and I cannot recommend Wave to anyone. In fact, I would actively warn freelancers and small business owners to avoid them. They simply can’t be trusted to treat their users with respect, and their support department was completely unhelpful.
New pricing model deal breaker
The new pricing model charging for basic features like invoice reminders is definitely a deal breaker
Very Disappointed in WAVE
I have been a WAVE customer for 5 years and everything was working fine until they implemented a new upgraded system with a monthly fee. I can still send my invoices, but cannot write a personal email with each one, send a copy to myself, or add additional recipients. Today I tried to send an invoice reminder for an overdue payment and was not able to send that either. I had to download the invoice into a PDF and attached it with an email. This is too much work! This is very disappointing and now trying to find a new free service to send invoices for my small company.

Can't send email invoices or reminders... Their reasoning "due to recent updates to our products and pricing in the US and Canada, users outside the US and Canada are no longer able to automatically send invoices or reminders via Wave."

So disappointed in this company
So disappointed in this company. I was oversold on and got “snookered”. My bad..partly because S Corp book keeping and payroll is new for me. I was hoping that the upgraded services could help with my moving from a sole proprietor to an LLC. The really unfortunate thing is the book keeping assigned to me didn’t call me and ask any questions. She did the work with a “cookie cutter” approach, wiping out several months of my previous entries. At this point it’s a disaster and what was supposed to save time..has created a time deficit.I am in a state of shock at the moment and wondering what the most courteous, professional course of action is for moving forward. The free service is fine, but beyond that, look elsewhere.
Scammy "upgrade", lost all my scanned invoices
Used it for a number of years. They double-billed me for some months, though it took some working with customer service to have it fixed but only in terms of going-forward credits.
Then all of a sudden, 2024, they get bought out by H&R block and they lose all my scanned receipts over several years under the excuse that I'm now on the free plan, but must sign up for the brand-new paid plan (more expensive) in order to have invoice-scanning capability again (and presumably have all my data back). What a scam. Also, no way to reach a real human now for customer service.
worst payment service provider and accounting software
been waveapp accounting software client for 10 + years, recently on april 19 i logged in and saw message to test payments service provided by them and clicked on payments tab to test it out and filled application form and was approved for payment serviceson april 21st i tested using their services and got 3 payments one was ACH/called EFT in canada for 3110.89 payment was supposed to be deposited in 1-3 business days but on april 30 they sent email to provide contract with customer and testimonials and provided both. told them i manage business and would never work with unknow clients. they ask me if i am director of the company i said yes but they didnt ask for any articles of incorporation.
they for no reason said they cant verify my business and will hold payment for 70 days , seems company is insolvent and stealing money from what i am reading now at BBB and trustpilot. please ask them to refund the money asap or will involve lawyers.

It's free so it gets one stars, but it lacks in even the most basic accounting functions. Reconciling accounts doesn't work correctly, matching/merging downloaded transactions won't work correctly. And there is no customer support unless you pay for it. Tried a trial of payroll, but I can't get support on setting it up because it's not paid yet. Chat bot is useless (as most are). If you need the most basic of basic accounting, then maybe it will work for you, but if you actually follow gaap, don't bother

Wave is a Canadian company with no real legal recourse within the United States, Please do not do business with this company if you are a small or medium size business. We offer to do business with them and they process our customers money and then decide to reverse the transactions, telling us they could not find our company. We are in business since 1999 This company is a get rich quick scheme. These small company has great ideas but horrible leadership. Most of the people who run these companies are in the business to get rick quickly and sell the company even though they sometime end up in prison for unscrupulous behavior. Do not do business with this company. They will burn you or make you loose money.
You think you are going to do…
You think you are going to do accounting with waveapps? Think again. It doesn't work properly, and then there is no recourse when you need help because customer service is an AI bot. Just get a notebook and use your bank account statement, save your reciepts, and do the best you can.
Created Issues with the IRS
Zero stars. Due to Wave's failure to follow instructions in written communication and pay taxes as requested, my business has now been in a 5 year battle with the IRS. The IRS incompetence is one thing, but NONE of this would have been an issue had it not been for the incompetence at Wave. Had they done their job and paid the taxes as instructed at the time it had been requested, this problem would not have occurred. This situation has caused me literally years of anxiety and grief and in the end ultimately paying thousands of dollars more in taxes I don't owe, trying to straighten things out with the IRS and Wave was zero help when contacted about a matter they created. I've cancelled their service and use another company and warn others about not using Wave.
Great at first. After years with them, switched to Square
Great app and support, at first.
Funds were locked for months when the wave credit card was frozen, I could not ascertain where and why. Additionally, it took months to get an accurate answer for resolution. Lastly, my connection to BofA kept failing. I have switched to Square.
HUGE issues with bank duplication
Bank stopped syncing. Contacted support who told me that it happens sometimes and that would likely return in a few days. It didn't. Tried disconnecting, then connecting -- was not asked how far back to go -- and it went back years. Contacted support who responded quickly that deleting these transactions was required.
