Wetherspoons - Newton Abbot, Devon Went with friends for dinner, arriving around 1600. The place soon filled up. The noise was awful, with people shouting at one another, and children running... See more

Poor service by some staff. Complain and they ban you!
Weatherspoons Honiton Devon
Poor and rude service by the girl working behind the bar.
Had to wait in a long queue in front of broken down coffee machines whilst the food was delivered to the table and getting stone cold. Complained so the girl turned around and banned me.
I have since heard from other customers who have also been banned.
So to avoid rude and poor service go else where.
Poor service
Went in today for a drink Im aged 20 and 21 in November when to get 2 pints one for me and one for my mum she said I couldn’t serve you because you look 16 years of age so I went and got my mum and she would only serve her 1 pint not 2 awful service and the waitress who served her was very rude to me
I will not be coming back into this pub
Liskeard branch filthy
Liskeard branch. Unhygienic. Smells of urine. Breakfast was served on a filthy plate and items of varying temperature with some uncooked.
Never again.
Weathers spoon POTTERS BAR
Weathers spoon POTTERS BAR - very racist manager Roberta who has very little respect for anybody in the pub. Talks to people like sh*t and picks and chooses how she treat customers based on their skin colour.
Really disappointed at the Talk of the…
Really disappointed at the Talk of the Town in Paignton Devon, the staff especially the very young women have a terrible attitude towards customers. It has put me off so much so that I have vowed I will not enter another Wetherspoons that with the cold serving of food and hard to eat pizzas. If you’re reading Mr Martin you really need to teach your staff some manners! Is it any wonder that pubs are closing.
Super expensive
Super expensive, little portions, limited choice. They have removed tomatoes from Large breakfast, mushroom was very little. For 1 slice of bread you need to pay £1.60 at the airport
Boggin

What a fantastic Company.
What a fantastic Company.
Doing more to bring people together than our own government.
Always nice to see the diversity in these places. No airs & graces .
Good service, reasonable prices & relatively good quality food that is accessible to people with a range of economical ability.
Well done !
Not interested in correcting food error.
This is about The Booking Office in Edinburgh. Didn't get the additional coleslaw. Minor thing, but we told the lady serving and she went away and did nothing. We asked another server and she at least ask her team leader, who promptly went away and also did nothing. Fact is, they just don't care. People just go there no matter how bad the service or food and just think, it's weatherspoons, that's what is expected. We'll, we won't trouble them again.
Should Weatherpoons care, the order reference was 768666.

I went in my soon to be registered support dog and how the manger told me no, ostracised me it wasn't what he said it was the dog language and lack of eye contact, he didn't say anything bad it was how ot was said. So much so from now on I'd rather pay extra and gp to a friendly pub
Where alcoholics go to fight
I think I would rather drink in a bus station toilet. It would feel safer and have more atmosphere. Ok it was cheap but really there is nothing nice about these places. I feels so cheap and hopeless. Really depressing. Sticky carpets, unhappy staff, crazy customers and toilets that are sooooooo far away.
Dangerous food safety/allergy safety - also reported to council food safety team
I went to Oxford for the weekend, and as a coeliac was looking for a safe place to eat which offered gluten free food. I used to live in Oxford when I was doing my masters degree and I remembered that the Swan and Castle Weatherspoon's used to have some gluten free items on the menu.
So we walked there, found a seat and looked at the menu. All GF symbols had been taken off the menu, so I went to speak to a member of staff. They took me to the allergen screen and filtered for items which didn't contain gluten. I explained I was coeliac, and they said that when I order at the bar tell the member of staff the allergy and the kitchen staff take measures to prepare the food separately such as separate utensils etc. I felt reassured so we stayed to eat.
I ordered a meal for my partners, then on the GF food I ordered 2 x halloumi fries and 1 x jacket potato with cheese and coleslaw. Ordering was not the easiest process, there were queues at the till and when I got to the front the meal my partner wanted was not available, so I had to go back to our table and then queue again to attempt to order again. When I ordered, I had someone newly training who struggled but was very nice, and once the order was place he went to the kitchen and informed them of the allergy.
When the food arrived, it was the waiter who I had originally spoken to and who had taken me to the allergen screen to show me which dishes I could order which would be GF. When the food was put down, the 3 meals which were supposed to be GF had purple allergen flags. I made a remark about how nice it was to see that, and that it makes me feel reassured. To which the waiter replied that yes, they were all GF - although the halloumi fries were cooked in oil with items made of gluten. I was shocked, and said well then they aren't GF and aren't safe for a coeliac.
He said 'are you super sensitive or something?' and I said no, this would be unsafe for all coeliacs and he said 'oh, I don't know anything about allergens. We're not allowed to talk to customers about allergens or you could sue us'. I said I can't eat that if it's been in a fryer with breaded items etc, and asked what else is cooked in the fryers with items sold to customers as GF and he said 'all sorts gets put in the fryers'.
He said, 'I can refund you for them' and I had to leave the table with my jacket potato on going cold to go to the till and get a refund for the halloumi fries. I explained how dangerous it is that you are allowing coeliacs to order items that the allergy screen is saying are free from gluten and that you're saying efforts are being made to keep separate, adding allergy flags, but then actually behind the screens cooking them in oil with gluten containing items. I asked that it was raised with a manager immediately, and the member of staff said it wasn't a pub issue but a head office issue. I emphasised how unsafe it was and that something needed to be done immediately as the next person to come in could be a coeliac and be exposed to the same risks, so the allergy information on the screen needing addressing immediately. The member of staff was not taking me seriously, treating me as if I was a nuisance and I was being ridiculous not eating them, kept saying he didn't know anything about allergens. I asked that it was raised with the pub manager for immediate action as allergens are a serious H&S risk and he wouldn't, he made it clear it wasn't something he thought was very important and said 'it's not a pub/manager issue, it's a head office issue and we have no control over the screens'.
I think they're missing the point that the screens tell customers what is GF, and it's then up to the pub to provide staff with allergen training (that should be all staff including those taking orders, serving, or cooking food etc) and to ensure foods that are i.e. GF are not cooked in oil which is full of gluten. The pub are responsible for lack of staff training, and not keeping food separately. The pub knows that these fries are labelled on the allergen screen as GF but yet knowingly cooks them with gluten and serves them to coeliacs.
I said 'I you going to go to the table and collect them?' and he did around 5 minutes later. I'm a vegetarian, and also respect diary products and really hate food waste. When he came to the table, I said 'if you're going to bin them the other person I was with would eat them' - as I really don't like animal products being put in the bin as obviously, the reason for the refund was because the person that ordered them to eat them - me - couldn't eat them because of how the pub had prepared them. Our meal on our weekend away had also been ruined, and in fact this experienced ruined me entire weekend. The waiter replied with attitude 'NO, you've had them refunded so I am taking them back now'.
The jacket potato salad was also rotting and slimy and brown in places (I took photos). The cucumber dry and old.
I went to the leeds train station…
I went to the leeds train station weatherspoons yesterday 9/03/25 at 8.30am for a coffee. I was served it in a paper cup because " the mugs had not been washed" this was first thing on a sunday morning. 30 mins later, customers were still walking away from the bar with paper cups??? Why?

Anniesland Esquire has got to have the cheekiest staff. After having yet another food order wrong, what looks to be the manager becomes cheeky and aggressive because a wrong order is sent back. Dreadful place. She marches around like a Sargent major. This one needs sacking
Mapperley Wetherspoons dreadful
If I could give this zero stars i would. The attitude and service from the bar staff here is regularly dreadful, it seems plainly obvious they don’t want to be there and that the customer is an irritation for them. Unfortunately circumstances dictate that I need to go there on a weekly basis, otherwise I’d be going to the Sherwood branch which i can honestly say is entirely the opposite, always pleasant and have a sense of urgency - maybe those at Mapperley should take a training session from them!
Appalling.
Pleasantly surprised
A little bit apprehensive, went with my partner to the Watford Weather spoons. We each enjoyed a great meal with a superb pint of Porter, for the price of a pint in London! Staff were really helpful, as we did not know the"drill" a very smart manager was constantly organising the staff and checked we were happy with everything. Quite frankly I was not expecting this level of service.
Impossible to get served even when it’s quiet in there
The elms pub in Leigh on sea. Impossible to get served at the bar. People wait for over 10 minutes to get served. There are 5 people serving but they all walk straight past you staring up at a screen to serve the people who have paid with the app. Nice pub. But completely useless if trying to get served at the bar . Zombie staff
Went in on the 8/2/25 harbours harbourd…
Went in on the 8/2/25 harbours harbourd Middleton to order food. Partner went to the bar to order. She asked for peas with the kids fish meal and was told you can’t do this in a very rude manner. My partner tried to explain to the staff member that it is possible on the app but the staff member was then extremely rude. This made my partner cry at the bar and the manager stepped in.
My partner returned to the table crying due to the behaviour and eventually the manager came back over and gave us our money back. He reiterated that the staff members was right to be anbusive and make my partner cry.
When attempting to leave I asked the manager if if there was a camera aimed at the bar as I was putting in a SARS for all my data. He confirmed there was but I am not allowed to do this breaching GDPR rules by attempting to deny me my data (I’ve submitted one via the official email)
At this point the same member of staff arcane over whilst I was attempting to leave and started again whilst the manager was stood there.
I asked nicely for her not to get involved as we were trying to leave. This was. Denied and both the manager and the staff member then proceeded to shout at myself and my partner following us along the bar.
He then accused me of swearing at his staff members which I DID NOT DO and said there is no audio on the cameras so it doesn’t matter.
After being chased up the bar by both shouting at us at least 4 times he then asked us to leave (we were trying to but him and his staff member wanted to continually shout at us).
How can a staff member be so rude as to make a customer cry, give us our money back for the disgusting behaviour then chase us up the bar when trying to leave berating us.
As management he should have managed the situation asking his staff members not to get involved whilst I was taking to him but instead he felt it necessary to allow it then join in like a pack of hyenas circles a kill.
I’ve never experienced such disgusting treatment in all my life.
At the end they changed their narrative in order to try age safe face but there is no excuse for making a customer cry. NONE!
Not great with raw chips
Cheap but chips raw in the middle. Burger fine but I suppose you get what you pay for.
Good experience
I was in water gate weatherspoons in Barnstaple and the manager was really helpful and was very supportive as my twin is autistic and her Burger was made incorrectly and he then he went and made a brand new one for her and was very helpful over all
