The bank is a joke and theives mindset people. They helped their faudulent customer when the card holder bluntly lied by categorizing as "Other Fraud - Card Absent Environment" and denied to challenge the false dispute filed by the customer, while the person signed all documents including the Financial Agreement Form that has the person's signature on the EHR electronic document and the evidences/reasons for the charge have been provided.
They have another incident with me that they denied wrongly just because I don't have an account with them. Don't do business with them. I don't know why this bank is still in business, Oh, by doing fraudulent transactions by allowing their customers to lie to keep their money owed to other professional services.
Very Fishy Texas based business. STINKY TEXAS BUSINESS. NO, I WILL NEVER OPEN AN ACCOUNT AT YOUR BANK!!!!!

Missing Deposit

I deposited $1,950 cash into the Wells Fargo ATM Kearny location on May 11th, and the money never fully appeared in my account. I called the next morning to report the issue and was told there were multiple deposit problems and that the bank was “working on it.” Later that day, only $1,450 was credited back to my account, leaving $500 still missing.

I have repeatedly called Wells Fargo about the discrepancy and continue to get the same response with no resolution or timeline provided. I’ve banked with Wells Fargo for over 10 years, and this experience has completely diminished my trust in this institution. Losing access to your own money with little communication or urgency from the bank is unacceptable.

My elderly mother was scammed into…

My elderly mother was scammed into wiring a significant amount of money to a Wells Fargo account. As a 20+ year Wells Fargo customer, I expected urgency and support, but instead we were met with endless transfers, no action, and complete indifference.
After escalating the issue all the way to Wells Fargo’s Executive Office, they still claimed the only way to recover the money was if the account holder, being the scammer, agreed to return it, which was not realistic. A local branch later confirmed the account involved was tied to over 30 accounts under the same name and address which later was confirmed to be a stolen identity. They also told me my mom’s money was still sitting in the account at the time however, even with active police and FBI reports, Wells Fargo refused to freeze the funds or take meaningful action.
After 52 days, Wells Fargo informed us the money was “unrecoverable” because the account no longer had sufficient funds. The detective currently handling the case told us Wells Fargo is considered one of the top banks used for fraudulent activity because of their lenient policies and failure to act quickly on obvious fraud cases.
Scamming the elderly and vulnerable has become a nationwide epidemic, and Wells Fargo’s response showed me they care more about protecting themselves than protecting victims. After more than two decades as a customer, I will be taking my business elsewhere and strongly encourage others to do the same. Wells Fargo does not care about people, only making money even at the expense of my elderly mother being scammed out of her life savings. Shame on you Wells Fargo.

I am so done with this institution the way they have their fee structure is completely insane. I had a $1.96 overdraft so they paid it and then charge me $35 and then a $10.15 tool payment came out they paid it and then charge me another $35 so on a $12 overcharged they charged me $70. I’ve been with them for 16 years and I am just done now. I don’t like change very much but I have to make a a change now.

my banker Rovan at 601 Market Street San Francisco

This is my review on my banker Rovan Jariwal at the 601 Market Street San Francisco branch. I have never experienced a more helpful, professional banker anywhere in my life! I have lived literally all over the world, he is the best! Rovan is so friendly, helpful, courteous, willing to go the extra distance to sort out any problem that may arise. With a fraud case I had last week, Rovan followed thru each step making sure I was taken care of and that things required got done.
I am very grateful for all of his help and assistance. It is an absolute pleasure to work with each time I'm in this branch.
I would also like to mention the branch manager Royal Cotton also is at the peak of professionalism, always friendly and most helpful!
Thank you both.
I appreciate you.

I was with this bank for over 6 years

I was with this bank for over 6 years, I never had any issues with them until there was fraud on my acct. due to a deposit that came thru electronically, I went into the bank to discuss the matter at hand, we were there for an hour or more, we left the bank and I got a call from their fraud department telling me I am sorry to inform you that we will no longer allow you to bank here, They turned off our atm cards, they refused money to come in all my bills bounced and they still have not returned us our money that was in the acct, Come to find out it was Wells Fargo bank that made the error and they refuse to acknowledge me, meanwhile i am behind in bills thanks to this creep that runs the banks and the fraud team, We have been waiting a month now and they still won't give us our money, This is ridiculous and untrusting bank I will never ever speak good about wells Fargo ever again STAY AWAY from this bank

Just horrible customer service

Just horrible customer service. Spent 1.5 hours on the phone with various incompetent customer reps and was transferred from online banking, to fraud, back to online banking, then tech support and then….of course, the call disconnects! My mobile number was sent a fraudulent Zelle deposit several years ago and I’ve been unsuccessful in getting my cell number re-established. The tech support people said “get a new phone number.” I said, “I am not going to upend my life by getting a new phone number just so I can send a friend money thru an app and plan to leave your bank after 25 years.” I stuck with WF all through their fraud scandals and now, I’m just done. Their interest rate on savings is ridiculous too. Changing to Chase tomorrow.

Wells Fargo helps fraudsters

Wells Fargo helps fraudsters, I couldn't believe it, but they do. Fraudsters opened a credit card in my name. I saw the credit pull and contacted Wells Fargo before the credit cared was used. When I contacted Wells Fargo Fraud Department, they wouldn't close the fraudulent account. I am livid and now have to go into a branch to verify my identity.

Charles W Schwarf Letter

Charles W. Scharf
Chairman and CEO
Wells Fargo & Company
420 Montgomery Street
San Francisco, CA 94104

Dear Mr. Scharf,
I am writing on behalf of myself and my 2 businesses in Gray, Maine, to express my absolute outrage and disgust at the disgraceful way Wells Fargo has treated a customer of more than ten years.
On May 6, without any warning whatsoever, your bank froze both of my business accounts and two of my personal accounts. I was suddenly locked out of online access with no explanation. When I called Customer Service, the only response I received was that “the bank has decided to end the relationship.” I then called my personal banker in Miami—he could not help me. I called my loan officer, Brian—he could not help me either. Finally, I contacted the branch closest to me, three-and-a-half hours away in East Hartford, Connecticut. The branch manager very politely told me to drive there on Friday at 1:00 p.m. to discuss the matter.
When I arrived, she and her assistant Tammy were genuinely helpful. They made multiple calls to your corporate office, pulled every record, and confirmed there had never been a single overdraft or any issue with my accounts in over a decade. Despite their efforts, they could not access or release my money. They asked me to wait until the following week while they “did some more digging.” I refused. I told them I wanted to close every single account that day and withdraw every penny I had with Wells Fargo.
This has been the worst experience of my life. Henry Wells famously insisted that every customer must be treated with courtesy. Your bank treated me with the complete opposite—cold indifference, bureaucratic stonewalling, and outright contempt. I am absolutely disgusted with your protocol, especially given the recent events at Wells Fargo.
Effective immediately, my businesses will have zero tolerance for any connection to your institution. We will mandate that no employee may maintain a Wells Fargo account. We will not accept Wells Fargo wires, checks, credit cards, or debit cards in any form. You have no path forward with me or my companies.
It is obvious you are using AI or some impersonal algorithm to make these arbitrary decisions. If this is how you treat long-standing, problem-free customers, I have no doubt your business will plummet. I will be the first person in line cheering as Wells Fargo reaps exactly what it has sown. A bank that treats its customers this way deserves to go out of business.
I expect a full written explanation for this outrageous action and immediate confirmation that all funds were disbursed without penalty or delay.

Wells Fargo customer wrote me a check

Wells Fargo customer wrote me a check. I called to verify that the account had sufficient funds before depositing it to my account at another bank. Automated verification wouldn't register my input, so I went for the option to verify by person. No one available during banking hours, then it hung up. I then called a local branch. Person answering was rude and refused to verify funds and wanted to transfer me back to the line that just hung up on me. Absolutely horrible customer service. I will never accept another check from this bank again.

After 30 years being with Wells Fargo

After 30 years being with Wells Fargo, eight figure accounts through them with Charles Schwab, a Visa cc with a max of $50k & and a ZERO BALANCE , as I rarely use the card, & a FICO SCORE 820, I go to transfer 22k from another cc, because WF offers NO INTEREST to me, because I’m a top client. I call WF, they APPROVE, send a letter Congratulating me & when checking my other CC. See it didn’t go through , I call WF, go through 5 different departments & they say “ IT WAS NOT CANCELEd “, to with I reply WHY, they say “WE DON’T KNOW.
WF is GROSSLY INCOMPETENT, DO NOT DESERVE MY BUSINESS & I’ll be removing every penny MONDAY.

Better Customer Experience Needed

I walked into the Landover branch closest to me at the time. I was greeted by the teller but not anyone serving customers with other needs. There was only one customer waiting to see a banker. There seemed to be only one banker to see customers with issues. I notice that when I walked in, I saw who seemed to be a manager walk to the back without acknowledging us either, leaving me and the gentleman in front of me waiting for quite some time with no one speaking to us. When a banker finally came to take the gentleman in front of me back, he DID ask what I needed and said he’d be with me in a moment and served me with thorough attention to get to the bottom of the problem. See below.

Further, and more dire, a longstanding duplicate bill pay issue is taking 1.5 hours and counting to resolve. The banker and I have spoken to several reps overseas reading from scripts then transferring to their counterparts with the same script. In asking for escalation we were placed on a long hold we are still on. He has called several different departments to try to resolve this issue, with more hold times!

There is a reason they have a 1.4 star…

There is a reason they have a 1.4 star rating. And they couldn’t care less about ratings or reviews. Wells Fargo has and will continue to set the bar for how corporate banks should act and operate, and unless you are in the 1%, your best interests do not fit into that bar. Inconsistent, unexplained policy and procedure, followed by a customer service that does nothing but read that scripted policy and procedure offering no solution, no empathy, and no regard to the person they are dealing with. They read the script, they patronize with non genuine words of sympathy and they push to the next call with “is there anything else I can help you with”, with no recognition or care of the fact that they haven’t helped at all. Like most corporate America companies, they have abandoned the people that have made them what they are. They simply don’t care, because they don’t have to.

Hidden/Surprise fees

Signed up for a Wells Fargo checking account years ago which I do not use regularly. I made sure to deposit the minimum needed to avoid monthly service fees. They silently began charging me a service fee after burying the notice in monthly statements(I have never overdrawn). They never sent a separate notification and had me agree to the new terms of service. DO NOT USE THEIR SERVICES. There's no telling what new hidden/surprise fees they will charge you and are unwilling to reverse these fees. They are able to steal from you by hiding behind shady rules and practices.

Unexpected service fee

I’ve been a Wells Fargo customer for over 15 years and have always maintained my account in good standing. When I originally opened the account, the minimum balance required to avoid a service fee was $500, and I consistently met that requirement without ever being charged.

However, in November last year, the bank increased the minimum balance to $1,500 and raised the monthly service fee from $10 to $15. I did not receive any clear or direct notification of these changes. Since I live in Canada and rarely use my Wells Fargo debit card, I wasn’t actively monitoring the account and only discovered the issue after several months—by which point multiple fees had already been charged.

As soon as I became aware, I brought my account back into compliance. When I contacted customer service, they were only willing to reverse two months of fees, citing policy limitations, and refused to address the remaining charges.

I find this approach disappointing. Long-term customers should be properly informed of significant policy changes, especially those that directly impact account fees. At a minimum, clearer communication or acknowledgment should be required before such changes take effect. I would have taken immediate action had I been aware.

I hope Wells Fargo reviews how it communicates important account changes and considers more flexibility when dealing with loyal customers who have a long history of responsible account management.
