Twilight zone experience!
My previous dentist (who was awesome) quit Welshmill (for more money?) without a word to his patients, before I got the chance to start a cosmetic with him (amalgam removal). It was a huge blow, as I had a lengthy consultation with him, and he was happy to start replacing my tooth-destroying-amalgams.
I was told to "pick another dentist". Upon greeting this elderly dentist, she was immediately confrontational to what I had agreed with the previous guy, dismissive of my concerns and outright condescending (she was right and I was wrong - apparently). She said she didn't do removals, and put all the blame on reception that they had put me with her. I was half sat up on my elbows in the dental chair with a face like a beetroot, as I was left stunned that a private dentist thought she get away with talking to a paying client like this. She even tried to convince me I didnt need it done lol, when that was the only reason I was there. I already had one replaced in a similarly ordinary dentists in Bath before Welshmill, and the dentist there had no problems with doing it.
It was a totally bizarre appointment, humiliating and left me feeling physically sick for days afterwards. Another dentist at Welshmill then got in touch and told me he could do it, but this new guy wanted £100 more than the original quote - in other words, he thought he could milk me.
Suffice to say, I was fuming over the whole thing, and didn't contact them for 11 months. As a nervous patient anyway, can you blame me? And dentists at this practice have the audacity to claim they are good with nervous patients on their website.
I was told by reception that as it had been 12 months (actually 11 months), I must pay a "consultancy fee" (85 quid) for the guy who wants more money, AND pay for more x-rays..... when they already have my original x-rays on file, and I don't need any more x-rays for what I want done. Absolute jokers!!
