Wicked Maths 

It started off great and gave me the motivation i needed to do maths revision. They were in touch regularly and i felt myself improving in maths. But then since December i have heard nothing and now i am sitting three maths papers to help achieve a final grade with none of the the support we paid for. Very disappointed and my even be a scam. Do not use.

Parent review- my 15 year old applied for and gained scholarship from Wicked Maths off his own back as he wanted to achieve good grades in his exams, but not at the expense of his sports career.

The scholarship commenced in September and was meant to be for the full academic year. The first couple of lessons he enjoyed, but then it started to get a bit weird. As parents, we would be monitoring the lessons in the background on a supervisory level. He would be online prior to the lesson start time at every session and written chat would commence from the teacher asking if he was ready for the lesson to start despite him being ‘live’. We had screen shots of him replying ‘yes’, which were not responded to. When the teacher eventually connected via video call she then accused him of being late to the call despite him being signed on 5-10 minutes beforehand. Part of the lesson was spend verbally reprimanding him for his lack of punctuality. We offered to speak to the teacher on behalf of my son to validate him being available on time, but he declined, put it down to a technical error and moved on.

Another few lessons down the line lesson involved her accusing him of recording the lesson as there was a green line present on her screen that she could not account for. We were witness to the event and no screen recording was occurring. He could not understand why she would make this accusation. She continued to speak to him a a very challenging manner, suggesting the call was compromised and she would not continue with the lesson (not that it had actually started at this point). The teacher then announced that she would be suspending his lessons for a couple of weeks.

Reluctantly, my son agreed that he was unable to handle the situation himself and agreed for us to make contact on his behalf to enquire to what had happened to warrant this action. We e-mailed and had no reply.

The sessions finished generally over the Christmas period and when my son attempted to sign on in the New Year, his account had been terminated.

We have still had no contact as his parents from Wicked Maths to date.

These encounters did knock his confidence and lots of reassurance was required as parents that we knew he had acted responsibly and that the action taken was unjust. Since it was scholarship that he had earned, we have chosen not to take it any further. Had we paid for these sessions, we certainly would of.

In terms of the content and teaching techniques witnessed during the lessons that were completed (Dad has teaching and curriculum experience), the method of teaching was not as interactive as it could be considering it is 1:1. Often a selection of questions were provided PowerPoint style and he was asked to work through them whilst on the video call. The teachers style had an old-school feel to it, hierarchical, demanding respect from the pupil whilst not themselves demonstrating it in return, not engaging or motivating at all. I genuinely felt that the teacher was making up reasons to disengage.

I have given the company two stars as the principle of supporting those pursuing a sporting career is a fantastic one. Providing the opportunity for children to gain a scholarship is also admirable. However, the quality of the programme and the negative interaction between adult and child would not lead me to recommend enrolment paid or otherwise.

They help a lot with Maths, I have became better at maths because of the constant revision I have done through wicked Maths and I believe that they could help students to practise maths yet still have time to do their favourite sports.

Really clear explanations of each maths skill, if you don't understand something then the video will explain it in an easy to understand way. The staff at Wicked Maths are really helpful through Instagram DMs.

So well structured for student athletes, great for doing work on buses or at training. Great experience and I highly recommend

I rate Wicked Maths five stars because it gives young people an opportunity to learn maths, as well as, having time to enjoy playing your specific sport. For example, if someone plays football three times a week, then there is no excuse to spend around an hour a day learning topics of maths, which will help improve the grades towards GCSE's. This allows students to improve on certain topics they're weak on and improve on their sporting skills, too.

For me, it has helped me significantly during this October half term, as my GCSE mocks are coming up in 2 weeks, therefore it ahs allowed me to improve on topics I was unsure of.

Wicked maths has helped me with fitting maths in with all the activities I do. I’ve used wicked maths on transport, right before games etc and it’s has increased my knowledge of maths with just a small amount of time.

I went on a 5 day course, and done so well to finish 1st out of 100 students. The work was challenging, helpful and there was always guidance there if needed. I reccommend it for maths and sport based activities!

I remember using this in primary it was excellent but now that I'm in highschool we use hegarty maths a very very very bad website I wish I could use you in year 7

Excellent tutoring, quickly found out strengths and weaknesses so that improvement could be made. Also made it interesting and I felt at ease to be able to be honest about what I couldn’t do

So friendly and the app is amazing and so easy to get around.

Wicked maths is really helpful as it explains thi gs in an uncomplicated way and I think it's great that it aims helps athletes.

The experience that Wicked Maths have provided for me has been amazing and very useful for my future.

The app has brilliant revision resources for exams and the helpful videos make it easy to learn new skills and tricks. The 1-1 sessions are amazing, I’ve learnt so much in just a few sessions. The people at wicked maths support you not just with your maths but also with you sport, great for young athletes balancing school life and sport.

I love this site! Everyone there is lovely and always on hand to help, they are very understanding as they are all athletes too!

WickedMaths.com is amazing. I definitely recommend joining their scholarship if youre struggling with Maths at school or even wanting to improve your grade. The customer service is spectacular and i couldnt ask for more.

It is a really good program. It has a great website and a great private tutor. An amazing thing for student athletes to enrol in!

I have found that Wicked Maths student athlete program is amazing and it really helps. From day one Wicked maths ensure that you know exactly what you are doing, they do this by regular emails. These emails keep you motivated and can tell you where you are ranked with your virtual classmates. The next step is getting into the coaching group, this is when the lead teacher Sarah emails you personally and asks you to set goals and targets that you want to achieve. I find this useful as it focuses me on what my goals are and makes me want to strive and achieve them. As well as this you also have access to YouTube videos, which are about all things from sport to managing your time effectively, these are very useful to watch and can provide you with new ideas on how to manage your sporting life. So far Wicked maths student athlete program has been really useful to me, and I would definitely recommend it.

If I've had any queries or questions they've always been answered the same day, they are all so helpful and kind. The team is so lovely, they're all so supportive and encouraging. The videos really help with explaining questions that I didn't understand and I feel more confident already. The whole experience was just amazing :).
