Worse Support Ever

Worse Support Ever
We are a nonprofit. We selected this company based on the sales teams demo and confirmation that it could meet our needs. 9months later we are still not able to launch. We cant get a LIVE PERSON to speak to us. They continue to send hyperlink from their help menu that is not addressing our need. It is so frustrating that we will cancel. I've tried so many different ways to get the help needed. Today, I tried scheduling a sales call in hope someone would be able to speak to us. They canceled that 15minute session too. This is so unfortunate as we really need such a platform. If only they could deliver what they are selling!

WildApricot - Do Not Waist Your Time!

We have been using WildApricot for 1 month and have had the WORST experience with their support and Personify Payment System. It literally takes weeks to get an answer to your problem. We started a tech support issue with them on Sept. 4th and we are still trying to get an answer to our problem. Our organization is going to cancel this subscription!

Update per reply(09/16/25)
I already have 4 tickets open and have been going back and forth via email with several of your support team and no one can help us. We have been going around in circles for weeks on one simple issue!

Our apologies that your payments issue was not addressed to your satisfaction. We would appreciate the opportunity to resolve the matter with you. If you put in a support request with the title "Urgent: Payments" in the subject line, we will immediately escalate it to our Tier 2 team and respond in short order.

Terrible service

The websites their service creates look terrible, like they were created in 1995. Then you have to pay a fee just to test your payment settings. And they have no good way to integrate their garbage scripts into a 3rd party website even though they claim they do. Once you upgrade to a paid plan, support sucks. And they charge US customers 3% to use a credit card to pay for their services. Everyone else doesn't get charged this fee.

Some have claimed nothing good comes out of Canada and they take advantage of the USA . I don't believe this, but Wild Apricot sure makes a case for just that.

They Work With Scammers

There are scammers operating through this service, sending phishing emails which attempt to trick people into "upgrading" imaginary services which were never signed up for.

WARNING ABOUT THIS COMPANY

WARNING: I made the mistake of not reviewing this one star section. I found this company's dealing not only unprofessional and non-responsive but antagonistic. They have no concept of working with organizations and are only interested in getting money whether their service works for you or not. I did not find them to be honest dealers of services.

Support: You are on your own!

As others have stated, in a single word, Support is what is lacking. We've been using this for about 6 months after the trial period. During the trial period, Support was excellent. The problem is that you will not learn everything that you will need during that period. After you purchase the product/membership, Support is practically non-existent. Text support is naturally truncated. Email support has taken up to 3 weeks to get a response.

Would not recommend them. I also would not pick any products in the Personify family of companies.

Longtime User - Run Away

I have been using Wild Apricot for years, paying their highest-priced tier. Ever since Personify took over, we've seen a steady decline. It's now to the point where the website interface operates so slow, it's nearly impossible to use. Their support system is strictly through chat, and their hours are very limited, they never offer support on weekends or ANY kind of holiday.

I have been a webmaster on Wild Apricot…

I have been a webmaster on Wild Apricot for two non-profits for close to a decade. The advantage is that its built in tools allow a non-professional to build and maintain a website and membership database. While I have quibbles, those key processes are excellent.
I think the worst aspect of Wild Apricot is their ability to handle text editing. As a webmaster who needs to create and maintain a lot of pages, text is where I spend most of my time. I waste so much time dealing with the idiosyncrasies of this process.
My big concern is that after the buy-out a few years ago there seems to be an emphasis on improving profitability. Customer service has gone to hell. New products are all focused on generating additional revenue for the company and haven't been of value to us. Subscription prices are increasing at high rates.
The organizations I support are looking for alternatives.

Wild Apricot is helpful & patient 24/7. That makes a big difference to a small association!

Wild Apricot is consistent, easy to learn and to master. The value of using this software is not just the complexity of learning new features - but the help provided if or when we need guidance along the way.

We are a small staff with multiple tasks and interests to stay ahead of our member's needs. Wild Apricot is always there to answer our questions and point us in the right direction to move forward.

I was a webmaster for two non-profit organizations and now WildApricot has increased annual subscription fee from $640 to $810 for the same plan. It is about 27% increase that we cannot afford to pass on to our members and customers. So we decided not to renew our subscription with WildApricot and moved to a new platform that supports non-profits and provides discounts.

Recent technical issue with how the website posts the number of registrants and openings for an event. The event page and the Upcoming Events "gadget" doesn't count a registrant with an unpaid balance. This is causing tremendous confusion among our members and event leaders.

Reply from Wild Apricot

Hi Gary, We're sorry this format is causing trouble. Wild Apricot is set up to track paid registrations for events. The system won't count registrations as confirmed until they're paid. There's a ton of documentation here that may help your team iron this out: https://gethelp.wildapricot.com/en/articles/105-registrants-and-invitees-list#filter

I hope that helps and that we can find a way to make Wild Apricot work for your event and team needs. Feel free to jump in with support - chat is the quickest way to get a hold of someone if needed.

Great App

I do some of the calendar work for our society and find it very easy to post events or to modify the information. Getting a cancellation notice out is quick and easy!

Hi George, I'm sorry you've had trouble with support. Wild Apricot's model is largely self-service and we have a ton of documentation in our knowledge base here: https://gethelp.wildapricot.com/en

That said, we totally get humans are needed for some issues! If you use the live chat in the Wild Apricot product during business hours, that will connect you with someone fairly quickly.

Impressive Interface but BEWARE

Impressive Interface but BEWARE
This might be a good choice if your agency has a professional web person and that person continues to hold that position.
But if you are an agency staffed by volunteers, this might NOT be a good choice. If your webmaster needs to be replaced by someone with only medium web skills, this might NOT be a good choice.
The tutorials are designed to help a person SET UP a site, but there is NOT a lot of help for maintaining an existing site.
Some help files are excellent, but others send you into an endless loop. An example of this: help files say that you can change the fonts on calendars, and perhaps earlier versions did allow this. But with the current themes this can only be done with CSS (something the average person can't do!)
I waited an hour to get help via CHAT, only to be told I needed to hire a third party developer to help with my problem.
To be fair, we had a lot of inexperienced people touching our website over the years. The most recent volunteer asked for help via Chat, and the chat staff person recommended a theme change. I don't think that person cautioned us enough about the full impact of that change. As a result, we now have calendars that can't be printed.
I repeat: we have inexperienced people trying to do a job that requires a certain level of skill. We made a mistake, but that mistake was based on advice from "Support Staff." That mistake can only be fixed by hiring a third party vendor or learning CSS ourselves. OUCH!
We will continue to maintain this site. Eventually I may learn enough CSS and get one of the calendars back to the old-fashioned black and white format that our volunteers need.
But I want to warn others: yes, there is some impressive stuff here. But BE CAREFUL. This interface may not forgive you if you make a mistake.

Customer service is non-existent

Customer service is non-existent. I've been told for days to utilize the live chat feature - nope, it is not available and hasn't been for days yet we have a paid subscription. The templates are buggy and when you ask a question about why it isn't working you get referred to a FAQ that doesn't address the issue you are having. I don't think there are actual people who work at this company. Plus they are increasing their prices for this below-average software and services.

DO NOT USE WILD APRICOT. Every request for support for my account takes way over 5 business days for a response, if it's answered at all. On-line documentation is unreadable. I've been with Wild Apricot for about 7 years. Phone support to totally gone, which is interesting as they keep raising prices. I've pinged support, accounting and then a key executive on LinkedIn for my financial update issue and NOTHING. Save yourself and your association the time and agony - go with any other vendor, DO NOT USE Wild Apricot.

Constant Price Increases Since Bought by Personify; Development Nearly Halted

Wild Apricot used to be a nimble, technically savvy company oriented toward constant platform improvement and customer response. Since being taken over by Personify in 2018, it has turned into a cash cow with a user wishlist whose top requests, including several simple changes needed for good member communication, have languished for years. In the last six years prices have gone up three times, a total of 118%, plus introduction of a 20% surcharge if you don't use their credit card processing system. Account pricing is based not on number of members but on contacts, which includes each person in a family and any nonmembers who ever registered for an event, unless removed by hand. Wide gaps between price levels can lead to a price shock as your organization grows.

It was easy to move over to. We depend on it for running our club, particularly events and membership renewal. It's given us a good-looking website, easy to edit and expand, although a lot of time is spent in working around quirks in line spacing that have been a source of constant complaints for many years yet have never been fixed.

But frequent price increases and almost nonexistent feature improvement have turned a decent platform into one in decline. It's often necessary to fight its limitations, particularly in event creation and registration. It assumes that memberships are individuals and bundles of individuals, each with their own record. This makes it a challenge to maintain, communicate with and register for events couples and families. Reports are limited in flexibility and not particularly useful - it's usually necessary to export data to Excel and format your own.

Any complex platform is going to have situations where you need to wrestle it into doing what's needed. A well maintained platform will have a program of smoothing and eliminating these as time goes on. Wild Apricot no longer tries.
