Easy, safe and flexible

It is easy to use, easy to search among thousands of accommodations in every city. It is very easy to establish contact with the host and clarify all supplementary details. It is safe for the client, the money transfer doesn't happen until 24 hours after check-in, which gives you a perfect window to assess the accommodation and even change it if it is not suitable. The review system for hosts and clients is also very easy and provides supplementary safety. Often you can find on Wimdu better accommodations than on any other similar sites. Excellent experience!

Ok but could be better

When we made our first attempt for reservation on Wimdu we find out that the final price was not in fact final - it was much higher as at the beginning we couldn't see the fees for services - i. s. for cleaning and for the service of the Wimdu agency itself. When I compare it with Air B&B I think (or I am almost sure) that on Air B&B you can see the whole cost immediately.

Good, but shorten support time response, pls

This is my first time I choose WIMDU service. At first I hezitated because I've never heard of you before. I read reviews about WIMDU in Internet and many people wrote about long reply support time response. Anyway I booked and was happy but I needed to correct info in my booking approvement to get Spanish visa. So I wrote to WIMDU and got auto reply to wait and I waited for a week then wrote again, and again autoreply. I didn't know what to do because It was a week to start my vacation but Spanish Visa was not ready because I didn't have right booking confirmation! And I wait until I got WIMDU REPLY containing my precious confirmation.
So, I wish WIMDU will read my letter and shorten support response. I wish you to prosper and good luck!
I would recommend WIMDU to my peers and I have already done this.

Disastrous experience with Wimdu

We have been cheated by Wimdu: we rent an apartment in Reykjavik for 4 people, two nights, in June 2016. We were unable to check in there. The host address was incorrect and the contact telephone was not registered (checked by local police). Wimdu charged immediately, but the host gave no sign of life ever, despite our repeated attempts to contact him, to discuss the details of check-in. Wimdu has not wanted to take any responsibility despite being the only money and communication managers with the host. We tried to inquire in the area about the apartment but nobody knew anything, neither the police. We had to find an alternative accommodation and the next morning we contacted Wimdu via its website, several hours before 24 h indicated by them as a deadline to pay the host. The service customer only serves to pretend they have, because they do not solve anything. Their excuse was they had already paid the host. This service is diffuse and they give preset answers, without capacity for solving problems and taking care of the quality of their offer, (they still are offering the same apartment). It seems they do not have any interest in keep customers. Wimdu is like a web of contacts that you do not know how many are real.

Ok, not perfect

Easy to book, easy to find what you look for and so on. No complaints there. However, 2 days before arrival, we were told that apartment was closed for repair. Of course, no other chance than accepting the replacement apartment ( which was ok ), given the short notice. Now, I know things can happen at short notice, but we were given no reason for the repair, Except from that, the stay was ok in the replacement apartment. Because of the late notice, not top score this time.

Great holiday accommodation with no unpleasant surprises.

I have nothing but praise for the "Wimbu experience". Everything went smoothly and questions were answered quickly. My hosts were delightful and their home charming. Greatest thing was that everything promised on the Wimbu website about the accommodation was delivered. There were no unpleasant surprises. My hosts were also very good at communicating clearly and quickly. I will definitely use Wimbu for my next trip!

Scams and identity theft

Found a nice summer place on the site - contacted the alleged owner through the official booking. This person then directed me to take contact privately on a e-mail hidden in one of the pictures. All seamed legitimite - the alleged owner even shared a passport with the right name, but when then contract and payment where due it became very suspisious - Kingly rentals contract and a weird payment method with no creditcard option. Decided not to pay and luckily found the phone number for the real owner of the house on yellow pages, and their own real website - beware of wimdu - many postings are scams and they will try to steal your identity.

6 weeks later still waiting for deposit to be returned

Me and 3 friends have recently had a trip to Amsterdam and thought Wimdu would be a good company to help us have a great time.
Things started going wrong from the outset when we were told the apartment we had chosen was no longer available. Which in all fairness you sorted out quite quickly by offering us two alternatives (in which one seemed good from the pics).
When we got to Amsterdam we had to go to the office to pay a 250euro deposit and get our keys. The woman behind the desk then tried asking for an extra 424euros and giving numerous different reasons why, she was very stubborn and adamant that we paid it. After a lot of time, stress and arguing she finally called up Wimdu and sorted things out.
The apartment was not the same as the pictures and had a completely different feel/vibe to it. Only two windows in the whole apartment opened (very very slightly as well) and one was held open by a butter knife (which fell down, shutting the window). This meant that the apartment was almost unbearable to chill in and sleeping was very hard.
There were also numerous thing in the apartment that were broken/in bad condition. There was a cupboard in the living room that was padlocked up. The sofa was very damp/wet meaning that we had to put towels on it if we wanted to sit down. The TV wasn't working properly (in the living room and bedroom). The bathroom sink was broken meaning we had to use the toilet when brushing our teeth etc. Finally there was a horrible smell that hovered around the shower area, making washing unpleasant.
We were then told that we cant receive our deposit back in cash due to us leaving on a Sunday, even though there were people in the office. 6 weeks later still waiting for 250 euros deposit to be returned.

Irresponsible company, NEVER use again

I planned to stay one week in Berlin in August, but since I do not have a credit card, I asked my German friend to do it for me. Before the host accepts my friend's booking, I contacted him and asked if my friend can do the booking for me and I use the room, he said yes and confirmed the booking. After I received his contact details through Wimdu, I tried to contact him but he neither answered via mobile nor email. when I wrote him again through Wimdu, he replied me one week before my trip and asked me to cancel the room, while he should do it himself. I contacted Wimdu and informed them about this problem, I even sent them the screenshot of my correspondence with the host, they told me we have to write them through Email we used for doing the booking which was my friend's email who went to Mexico for Vacation and had no access to internet all the time. Anyhow I sent a message to my friend and asked her to cancel the booking, but it was late and they sent us and Email informing that they only return 5% of the amount due to late cancellation. After many emails sent by me and my friend they accepted to return 50% of the total amount, but after checking my friend's account, she found that her account was charged at the day of booking, and the Wimdu company even charged her 10% more as their commission after they returned the money. it means they returned 40%, not 50% of the amount. Anyhow, I never use this company again and I will not recommend it to anyone.

No service

Even though they take money for service, they don't have any service at all. You can wait up to several weeks to get a reply to your mail, and that can be a huge problem, when you have an important issue, for example cancelling your booking (which they actually take money for).

Wimdu perfect way of finding the accomodation

I used Wimdu first time this summer and I found it as the best option for organizing the accomodation for me and my familly instead of booking hotel rooms. Easy to use, fast reply from owners of apartments and safe payment. In addition to that good tool to plan your stay in the choosen city or region

Flexible booking tool

Ah, yeah so the options, filters and tools make searching a pleasant experience. Plenty of info on each property and well laid out. Also I once had to change a booking and I promptly got contacted by a real humanoid who was surprisingly helpful. These days one gets used to dealing with a poorly programmed machine, so-called FAQs that no one has really ever asked let alone frequently, or a buffoon who cant understand one's question so what a relief. If I had to suggest areas for improvement one is the scale of fees added to the booking, that arent added until credit card time - they should be upfront. Also property owners attach the most rediculous photos (e.g. 3-4 shots of a wine glass or a close up of a teddy bear on a pillow, even generic tourist attractions that are nothing to do with the property. It's annoying to scroll through and makes the property owners look like idiots. So it would be good if the nice Wimdu people got strict with these, maybe force a photo of every room, the building front then 4-5 free photos, something like that. Have a mighty fine holiday.
