Simply unprofessional
Booked a camp for my son at the last minute (Sunday night for Monday). Early morning today I got a message that the camp is not running. BUT THEY STILL let me book and pay yesterday. They claimed to have tried to call me (no sign of a call on my phone - so also liars).
Refund ASAP and definitely don't recommend. Had a camp two weeks ago with Justin Craig and they were professional.
Sorry, Winchmore Camps get your act together!
Just to add - still haven’t received my refund (they lied about calling me so who knows what else they are lying about too). PLEASE DO NOT use them.

It was my first experience as a manager of a camp and really enjoyed it as I managed to cope with some challenges and tried to do my duties to the best.
Being a manager even for 3 days in combination with my experience as a fully qualified Maths and ESOL teacher helped me to assist the main teachers, especially in Maths by explaining questions to the students in different ways according to their abilities and marking their assignments.

Always great working with Winchmore as an English Tutor. The students at the camp at Woodhouse College were brilliant and all made great progress.
I think the camps were quite well!
I think the camps were quite well organised. The students were engaged and willing to learn and progress. The camp managers were helpful.
Better than school
Overall, it was two days well spent.
We did a variety of topics and everyone was tested before and after the course to make sure that everyone was learning successfully.
There were only 7 students so the teacher was able to give us lots of individual attention. And as well as the main teacher there was another member of staff who was able to sit with one student who needed more one-to-one.
The staff were friendly and helpful. The classroom and surroundings were clean, tidy and comfortable - better than school.
Barnet Camp
What a pleasure to be Camp Manager at Barnet. Winchmore provided 3 amazing tutors for their Science, Maths and English GCSE revision classes, and the students all made rapid progress over each 2 day period. As a parent myself I will be enrolling my own children when they reach year 11. Highly recommended for GCSE students. Excellent value for money.

A brilliant tuition provider in a professional setting. The lessons were engaging and a great way to refresh knowledge and brush up on key skills in answering exam style questions.
The small group sizes mean students get help on an individual level to overcome challenging concepts with qualified and experienced teachers. Great for exam prep- I highly recommend.

My son really liked the tutors and the groups were small. It was shame the venue was altered at the last minute but I did receive compensation for travel costs.

GCSE English & Science
Winchmore camps offered a good selection of courses in various locations. My son, who will be taking his GCSE’s this summer, took a science and English course over the Easter holidays. He said science was fantastic and gave his a great boost of confidence. English was also rewarding.
Terrible experience with them
Terrible experience with them. We were registered on the english and science camps in reading which were cancelled with a couple of days to go. We took the backup of Henley and were offered 1-2-1 sessions for English. We were given dates and times but no login details - i have chased and emailed multiple times and keep getting fobbed off - in the meantime they are holding onto my £175 which is a disgrace. The service is appalling. My son attended the science camp but the workbook comes with no answer sheets despite me asking so we literally have nothing to revise from. A terrible experience and I would not recommend anyone using them. PLEASE REFUND MY MONET
Inconsistent fees and disorganised.
Other parents were charged £120 and I was charged £175, so make sure if you do book with them you get the correct rate. I have raised this issue directly with the company via email. I thought it was reasonable to give them the opportunity to rectify this mistake privately but they have ignored me. I noticed they have been very quick to react to the negative reviews though. My daughter is year 10 so should have been stretched at this camp considering the rest of the group were year 11 but they finished the lower level papers before lunch on the 2nd day and there were no other materials or schemes of work for them to continue with. She was really disappointed and demotivated. This was advertised as 2 full days and my daughter said the frustration from the other pupils and teacher was very clear. By not differentiating apart from outcome, running out of material and having zero ways to deal with this issue is totally unacceptable. It is a shame because if Winchmore had got the basics right I would have sent my daughter to the English, Maths and Science Camps next year and my son in the following 2 years. Not good Winchmore. Not good at all.

Save your money!!!
Coming from a Student who had to experience Winchmore ‘camps’. The teacher was really good and the teachers quality of teaching was very good.
However, the lack of organisation from the ‘admin’ team was beyond shocking. Not everyone in my class received booklets which again for £175 is very poor and frankly infuriating. You’d expect with all off winchmores flashy advertising that the material they give out would be somewhat ‘good’ that is what I thought until I saw the booklet. The person who wrote the booklet has to be a very very lazy person who needs tutoring themselves ( preferably not from winchmore). The questions are from ExamPro which anyone can buy, and the questions themselves were awful and not up to gcse Standards at all.
Winchmore asked my parents to complete a form which asked for our exam board and if we are doing higher or lower papers. Clearly this form was ignored by the incompetent ‘admin’ team. Winchmore will not cover your kids exam board unless they are aqa lower tier. In my class there where 3 people doing ocr higher and one Edexcel higher, we got given a lower tier aqa booklet which was just poor.
Save your money, find another company or make your child do past papers from their exam boards, as the incompetent fools from winchmore will not help your child at all in anyway, they will just take your money they do not care about your child’s education.
Past papers are free.
Physics and maths tutor is a free website too
BBC bite size has ever exam board for all gcse subjects and it’s free
I hope you read this review and not give the incompetent lazy people at winchmore your money. I feel sorry for the teachers due to the lack of communications, and parents who waste their money. Do not send your child here

Unorganised mess waste of money
I arrived at the camp for science and wasn’t provided with any material at all and had to use an already used answer booklet so I couldn’t workout the answers for myself. The sessions being 6hrs long are by far too long without any form of timetable. The teacher was very good but the material provided by winch more was shockingly scarce and minimal all my group where on high level science and science they were only provided with foundation. ***************
DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILD HERE IT IS A WASTE OF ********MONEY****************************

“Intensive” is a complete
Overall Winchmore Camps have proved to provide a horrible experience for me as a student in their camps. This is partly due to the unorganised mess that was in this camp. I got enrolled into a camp that should have provided respectable options for higher tier GSCE science. Instead we were provided foundation tier work that was unable to provide a better experience. There was no set timetable and timing issues were precedent as well. One of my peers who I was with did not receive a textbook that they offered. Overall the topics that covered were too basic not even focusing on the relevant theory behind it. I did not enjoy my time in Winchmore and it definitely does not do justice its £120 selling point for an “intensive” camp.
I recommend to any parents that are trying to book a camp to not go here. Instead encourage your child to past paper on bitesize or use other websites such as cognito and physics and maths tutor. That would have been more useful
