Inept, disingenuous and untrustworthy are probably the first three polite words I can think of regarding my misfortune in dealing with this company. Selling his own house (but didn’t disclose this in any of the adverts or property listings), the ‘director’ of Winfields and failed to answer simple enquiries or return forms, had significant issues in writing an accurate property description (with incorrect room sizes, features and even incorrect number and location of doors), and led us on a trail of broken promises and failure to respond for almost 8 weeks before ‘changing his mind’. I suspect it was all a tactical manoeuvre by a company that seems to have great difficulty with honesty and professionalism. As a genuine buyer of this property, I’m left with significant expenses related to the purchase and not even an email to confirm their change of mind or the moral decency to apologise. My solicitors were the ones to inform me.
I suspect I’ve probably had a lucky escape but I’d caution anyone in their dealings with this ‘company’ - you are dealing with people that will knowingly and unpleasantly cause you great stress and in my case, financial loss.

EDIT 4.10.25. The reply left below by Winfields further proves the disingenuous nature of their business and attitude towards genuine customers investing time and money into purchasing property that wasn’t actually genuine in its listing - significant costs were incurred to the point I received a written offer of a ‘bribe’ in ‘recognition of my costs’ in order to remove this review. Winfields incurred no costs - that much is true. As for the sale - the property was left online as Sold STC for over a month after my solicitor informed me it had been withdrawn……reasons I’ve been given since (in a threatening email) include weddings, cancer, not finding a property, property market being slow…etc etc - it’s very telling that the story changes even now.
This was not an honest or professional property sale. And I have the proof.
I’m still awaiting my SAR which hasn’t been responded to, and am following all correct processes to follow up an official complaint.

My review of the ineptitude, the dishonesty and the difficulty of dealing with this Estate Agency is 100% accurate, verifiable and has written and other relevant factual information to back it up.
I am still awaiting a response to the SAR made through the Information Commissioners Office on 5th September. This has been ignored - unsurprisingly given the appalling lack of professionalism and transparency experienced to date. The ICO have all details.
Any further harassment (such as the recent emails) received from Winfields in any form will also be followed up through the correct legal channels.
Bribes, harassment, threats and intimidation are unacceptable methods of dealing with customers and speak to the integrity of this company.

We found Amy to be very helpful, professional and friendly. If she is typical of the staff at Winfields, I would recommend them

I came across Winfields through an unfortunate bereavement within our family.

The dealings i had with the lady that came to see me was so compassionate, professional, made you feel comfortable.

Even to this day they email with condolences and wishes, they do actually care about you which is comforting.

From our perspective Winfields are top drawer. They give each and every customer a service that is second to none and tailored for them. I have seen both sides to the Company both as a customer and as a removal and waste disposal company. They give each client one hundred per cent of their time until completion be it a sale, purchase or letting. This Company would be hard to fault.

Laura from Winfields was very helpful and professional in helping me find the tenant for my flat. I can’t recommend her highly enough!

The world is full of people that care and that is not Mrs Evans from the Paignton branch as that lady could early be Britains most rudest person. The lady identify as the Branch Manager, when you have a concern as a manager you meant to listen and not talk over and talk at people or even patronize them. Senior management should address this ladies manner and conduct.

Friendly efficient service with a smile. We were made very comfortable about calling or emailing our agent - Laura - at any time for any questions we needed answered. All round great experience from the whole team! Thanks Laura :-)

Went to look at a house and within a week they had helped us secure it. The best Christmas present we could have ever imagined.

Omg what a set up! Called last week and whoever answered the phone was so rude! I could not beleive it! Use another friendly agent!!!

As I did not use the cooker/ oven even once during my unhappy stay in one of their rented flats, I fail to see why they are trying to claim 65 pounds from my deposit for a professional clean.
I don't even own any pots or baking trays and haven't done so in years, always using my own microwave and air fryer.
It was exactly the same as it was when I moved in, which was clean.
Unfortunately my whole stay in the property was total nightmare, serious repairs not attended to, rude/ dismissive attitudes from some of staff, most particularly one person who should've known better
As an older person with multiple health and disability issues I was treated shabbily, the place wasn't fit to reside in. I looked after the property well, as they fully know, plus always paid on time and met all my commitments as as a responsible tenant. It's a shame they didn't upheld their side of their own contract.
