Bad 1:1 copy of Pterodactyl

Wisp is a expensive 1:1 copy of Pterodactyl Version 0.7 (the current version is 1.11.2) with only two differences: The wings setup is changed. And it cost Money. This Version is 5 years old and has no more added features. Even the original has more features.

I've had them for a while and…

I've had them for a while and absolutely loved it. But there's just been too many issues with them recently. They simply refused to charge my card, so that basicly made it useless. And this have caused me to get behind on invoices, I figured this out too late, and had to pay 50$ for them to put on a backup. This didn't happen. I haven't heard from them since, and had to switch panel, and recreate all lost data manually.
So if the service get a little better, I'd highly recommend it, but having to go through all this trouble, looking through folders and trying to find out what server it was, who owned it was a nightmare. If they improve, I'd gladly give them a chance in the future. But not as-is.

Great support and great panel!

I've had some minor issues with installation and using the panel, but their support team has been extremely helpful in fixing the problems we were having! I'd recommend anyone use this panel as it feature rich, and does literally everything I need it to.

The best panel i have ever seen!

I cant understand the amount of bad review. Wisp is ptrdoactyl but better, thats why it cost money. You have to do nothing to get your node working. Just buy it execute an command in your SSH console and your server is visible in your panel. Now you can create Server without any problems. There are a lot of eggs and nests you can also add. You can customize the panel and much more cool features. For me its the best Gameserver Panel if ever seen. And the support is very fast. If you write an ticket you problem will mostly get resolved in under 24h. The Discord is also very active. If you have problems write there and the helpful community will help.

All in one its perfect and i never had problems!

Modern panel, with all the convenience of SaaS

Works well, especially since the latest updates. Biggest value for us is reduced SaaS overhead, not having to manage and scale our own ptero panel. Super modern panel, and very easy to set up nodes.

Since the latest major release went live (and after ironing out the initial issues) there's definitely a sense of the platform maturing across the board.
Only complaints I could have are some minor "we'll fix it later" UI elements that seemingly haven't been given a final polish. E.g. Strangely rectangular console/manage buttons that seem to be missing top/bottom padding, hard-coded breadcrumbs in the UI that serve no functional purpose and can be a bit confusing, etc.
Functionally though the product works well and gives you the flexibility to fix those minor styling issues yourself or even further customise the UI if you're comfortable with some css or javascript.

I hope they continue the same rate of feature development setting WISP even further apart from the competition, while also keep its flexibility as close to its self-hosted counterpart as much as possible.
Keep up the innovation.

Not the best experience

Not the best experience. I would recommend staying away until they prove the features work and false advertising stops. I was met with extremely rude behavior by staff in their own discord for just asking why a feature didn't exist when the feature is listed on their website under premium packages however after purchase the feature doesn't exist. You will have lots of these issues with this company.

Overall, I will never use this service again.

Great Experience

It was very easy to migrate from Pterodactyl to Wisp. Panel is in no way lacking features. It takes away the pain that is managing a Pterodactyl instance.

99.99% perfect!

I moved over to Wisp after wasting countless hours trying to get Pterodactyl to work out the way I wanted. The reason that finally made me ditch Pterodactyl was the number of features and trustable plugins that it was lacking. I've now been using Wisp for just a couple of hours and am just loving it more and more.

The only thing bugging me a little bit is some design choices in very few places. However, these are almost not worth noting considering how satisfied I am with everything else.

It's acceptable - Needs a lot more maturity

It's acceptable, it has promise and hopefully becomes very successful. I do understand it's a fairly new company but there are a few problems that build up to something that may put you off using the service.

You are limited to 1 developer creating "Eggs" for your servers. These Eggs create, configure and run your servers. This isn't a new thing, it is based off Pterodactyl, but ultimately you are at the mercy of a single developer ironing out these issues with Eggs/game server software if you run into any.

WISP are quick to pass off blame/responsibility onto the Egg developer if problems arise.

Overall, the software is actually pretty good when it works. The support is fairly shocking. Hats off to Softwarenoob in the Discord for being voluntary support for WISP and actually going out of his/her way to help paying CUSTOMERS when the real employees don't even really seem to be bothered with your problems whether you're new to IT/running game servers, or someone who has genuine issues and a lot of experience in running servers.

Better support and more time and development maturity could make this into a really good SaaS product - if you can grin and bare some of the flaws, you may get along with it and in the future it may become #1. We shall see.

Changed to 2*'s.

Not Good

First, Wisp offered $5 credit to everyone who posted a review. They said it could be a good or bad review, but we all know if you offer a reward people tend to post more positive reviews out of worry they won't get the reward.

Alright, so where do we start.

- Menu
The UI of the panel is nice overall, but the menu layout is poor. We've been using the panel for more than 5 months, and I still get lost in the mess of it all.

- Modpack Manager
The modpack manager doesn't work. It pulls all the modpacks in it from Curse. Nice idea in concept, means you get 100s of modpacks out the gate. But a lot of the time modpack creators on Curse don't ship forge with their server files, or with packs like all the mods 6, they ship installers in their server files. This means when any client downloads all the mods, they just get a useless installer jar.

There is also no way to upload your own modpack to it. It's missing Technic and FTB packs.

- Versions
The panel also has a neat version controller in it. Would be cool if they kept it updated. What they list as the latest version of 1.16 forge, is not the latest version. This has lead to issues when clients are trying to install the version of forge they need.

This could all be fixed if they allowed for us to add our own jar to the version controller, but they don't.

- Plugin Installer and Action Logs
These two functions do work well, and the action logs were something we missed when leaving wisp.

Everything else on the panel such as backups, etc you can get with pterodactyl for free.

- Down Time
We put a lot of work into locking down our servers and putting provisions in place to stop DDoS attacks. But this means nothing if Wisp doesn't do the same.

All of Wisp got taken offline for hours 2 months ago. Leaving us stuck having to apologise to clients for the downtime.

Wisp had no plan in the event of downtime like this. It was nice how they communicated about the issue over their Discord, but it took them a good hour or so to even get someone online who could fix the issue.

Wisp has also had a number of other outages while we've used the service. They claim on their site that they're always online, but all you need to do is read their announcements on Discord to see they're not.

- Wisp v2
For the near year we were using Wisp there has always been chatter about Wisp v2. This magic version will fix all these issues, and make a panel that can't be matched. However, this v2 panel is still not here, and wisp is still a mess. Might be better if they fixed the issues with the current version, before running off and making a new one.

- Overall
If you're looking to build a host, then I guess this is a good starter panel, but I must warn you we have lost clients due to the modpack manager being broken, and people not finding features in the panel. If people can't do something out the gate, they tend to give up, and just leave. Not everyone opens a support ticket asking for help.

Just use pterodactyl, and get a dev to work on what you need, or learn what you need to know to do it yourself. Even if wisp gets fixed, you're always going to hit a wall with it missing something. There is a reason why nothing like this came before, and all big hosts modify their own panels.

Who it is good for
I think Wisp is an amazing idea for communities. Bigger Minecraft servers for example can run dedicated systems, and then just easily place wisp on it. It just installs with a single command, so simple for people who don't know about Linux

A honest review.

It's not bad,but the panel feels sometimes like a hit and miss. The great thing about panel is that it is hosted on their end, with geo routing,so you wont see your panel ever go down. The installation script they provide is great,it's literally copying and pasting one line, and that's it.The node installs and certs itself which is great.I was using enterprise (10$ per node) which was pretty good for the price, since when you look at it,you are technically paying 5$ for first node, since you would've needed a good vps for panel either way.

The panel:
Panel looks and feels great, the console pop up is bit weird on phone, because i don't think it was optimized for phone [for now].You can add your custom logo really easily inside the panel and much more. The panel offers some stuff like login with whmcs sso, backups, player counter [which sometimes work and sometimes not,but that depends on the game,in my case it was counter strike 1.6],oh and panel and daemon auto updates itself. Also,i really dislike the console look,it just feels crammed compared to normal ptero panel for ram and cpu.

The tools:
The tools are separate, which is awesome. That means if you host samp for example, you wont see in tools plugin installer for minecraft.Tools sometimes have issue, such as plugin installer for minecraft, and im honestly not sure if it is because of panel or because of the site where it's getting the files. Smart fastdl is doing as advertised, easy and fast, and i honestly think you can't find better than that as the fastdl goes.

The look:
The looks of the panel are great, easy to the eyes, and overall feels professional compared to the standard look of ptero, but that's something you willl be able to do with themes soon .Either way, wisp does a great job of the main page in panel, showing you amount of players, cpu usage, ram, ip node name and the uuid all in real time.

Overall pros:
-Easy to install
-Tons of tools
-Easy to the eyes
-Self updating daemon and panel
-Has great look to it
-File manager is so great, that using sftp almost comes to a point of should you?

Cons:

-Sometimes tools can be hit or miss, depending on the game you are using, for example minecraft plugin installer and mod installer.[I kept getting timeout error, but i think that's the problem rather on the other side than the panels]

-Not enough or little documentation, which can be confusing sometimes on how to use something [example mod install]

-Console popout looks off on mobile. [Note 9]

-Smart search sometimes, but rarely [like really really rarely] has problem searching stuff, that again depends on a game [for me it was 1.6,minecraft worked great]

-For now no lang support [in v2 will be]

Is it worth 10$? Yeah it is, it's a no brainer, but i strongly recommend waiting on v2 for all to be ironed out, including lang support and much more to come.

OverPriced

To start the panel is a fork from pterodactyl and is kinda overpriced in my opinion. It has some great features that you can't get with the normal pterodactyl panel but it's $10 per month per node If it was $10 per month and not per node also I think more people would buy it.

Amazing Panel - Amazing Support

Amazing Panel, Amazing Support.

Was looking at wisp for a long time as i use Pterodactyl for my hosting. And i thought it was amazing, what the team have done etc.

I decided 2 days ago to switch from pterodactyl to the wisp panel, i had run into some problems, however, the team were quick to help me thorugh them to get all my nodes working!

Would recommend wisp to anyone!

Amazing service and uptime

Amazing service all around, and while their customer support has some downtime, it is always experienced members you get in contact with. There are some hidden fees to adding additional nodes, but if you're using this as a hosting company, then it is a relatively small price to pay for the "free" scalability and geo-routing Wisp offers. Even with the V1.0 Release of Pterodactyl, I would still stick to Wisp.

It takes some times for the features you wish want to be implemented, but at least they do listen to you and get it done eventually.

WISP has been a game changer

WISP has been a game changer. It is the best tool for game hosting companys since it has a lot of features whitout the hassle of mainting it myself. I only think €10/node is a bit steep but for the features you are receiving it is great.
