Word Tonic are a fantastic, Gen-Z led community that offer a variety of fab resources - from masterclasses to a 24/7 community of copywriting professionals to briefs/competitions that are great for upskilling (as well as a great course!). I joined in November 2024 after finishing Spanish and English Lit at uni and being unsure of what I wanted to do post-uni.

Fast forward to now, and I’m in a job I absolutely adore (as a Content Writer for a personal branding agency) & without Word Tonic, I never would’ve gotten here. I couldn’t recommend them more🥰

Word Tonic has completely helped me tap into a community where we can chat about TV shows, SEO, and AI's role in the future of writing. It is just a broad spectrum of information at your fingertips! The masterclasses, as well as the feedback, have been so crucial to improving my work.

Word Tonic is a wonderful community for emerging Gen Z writers. Their ads on Instagram captured me and convinced me to join and explore the world of copywriting. I also took the course, which was really helpful in helping find my interests and what kind of copy I enjoy most. The Discord is a friendly and helpful place, with a space for everything! If you're a young person looking to start a career in copywriting, this is the place for you!

Joining Word Tonic was, without a doubt, the main catalyst for me becoming a freelance copywriter. I signed up to test the waters, figuring that I'd dip if it wasn't worth it or I didn't enjoy writing copy.

100% the best thing I could have done for my career at that time. I was a total newbie (no English degrees here) but studying the past masterclasses gave me a really solid springboard to develop my knowledge, and I picked up the course to take that further.

3 months after joining my first Word Tonic call, I signed my first client as a freelance copywriter. I've now been in business for 5 months, worked with multiple clients, developed great relationships with other Gen-Z creatives and found great opportunities through masterclass speakers and the "opportunities" channel in the server.

Overall, it's been a great place to find my feet as a copywriter, get feedback on my spec work, find new opportunities, and develop my skills.

Word Tonic is the hottest copywriting course going. Trust me. I completed it. I think it actually made me hotter, too. It took me 7 months, but that didn't matter. No one hounded me for taking too long, or doing things in the 'wrong' order. I could come and go as I pleased, do what I wanted to do in between lessons, I had free will! Under a course- I know- it doesn't sound possible, but with Word Tonic it is!!! The course is entirely online, supported by audio versions of lessons and sprinkled with relevant memes to make you giggle. You can make it your own!!

I honestly think I wouldn't have gotten as far as I did without the wonderful community though. Through discord, they reviewed my work, made me laugh, inspired me to pursue my goals, even when I felt like the world's largest piece of untalented trash. Their persistence to engage with people and get them to believe in themselves is the driving factor behind why I completed the course, and stayed on as a regular member of the community. This is a special corner of the internet, filled with a bunch of weirdos, but good weirdos. With crazy copywriting talent.

I’ve been a member of word tonic since 2024, I was a little skeptical if I could really pursue a career in copywriting so I was very on and off in the beginning. However I soon realized that this a real community and the people in it are not afraid to express themselves or what their future career aspirations and goals are. It’s not your typical glossy and stuffy community of professionals that are all 20 years older and hold themselves to some impossible standard. It’s Gen Z focused and fairly accessible for most people to join. It’s not a get rich quick scheme or an MLM, there’s no overpriced course or secret to earning thousands a month. It takes commitment and real effort, going beyond your comfort zone and actually getting involved in the community. That’s the honest truth, there’s no gimmicks here. Also if you find Gen Z or crude humor to be off putting you’ll have to swallow that bitter pill. You can be professional while still being authentic and funny and not the same flavor of bland personality that corporate loves to tout. Building a portfolio and a career is a years long process, there’s going to be ups and downs and all sorts of challenges on that journey. If you’re willing to commit despite the risks (of not finding a get rich quick scheme) then you, too, can be part of a community that will provide you the tools for creating your own path. Whether you decide to work in copywriting entirely or take the skills you learn elsewhere there’s so much to be gained from joining. It’s low risk, a reasonable monthly fee, and a plethora of resources and information on how to start copywriting or improve your skills and network. You truly don’t have much to lose by joining, unless you’re afraid of having a good time!

Pros: Word Tonic provides a social space for young copywriters, with creative challenges to practice copywriting. They also manage to bring in a variety of speakers and make videos of these sessions available afterwards, which provides flexibility.

Cons: Maybe my expectations going in were too high, but I found Word Tonic to be incredibly superficial. Feedback always seemed closer to uncritical cheerleading to me, and while encouragement can be nice, it isn’t particularly helpful. The community was more of a big group chat than a professional networking space. I tried their course but found it so surface level that I didn’t have the motivation to force myself to finish it, despite having paid (the first time I’ve ever given up on a paid product like that). The marketing plays on scarcity and the idea that value for money will be revealed if you sign up, but it’s all artificial. The discounts aren’t as time-limited as they pretend and they definitely seem to over-promise and under-deliver when it comes to opportunities. Even the speakers, while sometimes good, often seemed to be brought in solely because of an employer name rather than to teach a specific skill or share specific knowledge.

Overall, if you’re a specific type of person, you might like it, but it felt more like a university club than a professional network and the value just wasn’t there for me

If you’re Gen-Z and looking to launch your creative career, then look no further than Word Tonic. Joining the community has been the best thing I’ve done for myself to springboard into a world of opportunities that I didn’t even know existed. The advice, access to industry professionals, skills taught and network offered by Word Tonic allowed me to land my dream internship. I went from watching WT’s masterclass with Virgin Atlantic thinking ‘wow, what a dream place to work’ to securing an internship with them this Summer. All within months of joining. If you want to make something of your writing skills, and know that you deserve more from your creative career, Word Tonic is absolutely the place to be to grow and expand your horizons exponentially.

Stumbled upon Word Tonic through an Instagram ad and thought it sounded almost too good to be true. Now, here I am 3 months after joining, with an in-house copywriting job. Let me tell you, I would never have gotten this job if it hadn’t been for Word Tonic. I took the course and also became a Discord member, and I was amazed at how valuable and brilliant both things are! The course taught me what copywriting is from scratch, guided me to make a portfolio, helped me write a fun and unique cover letter, and boosted my confidence to post on LinkedIn and pursue my own creative writing on the side. The Discord is an awesome and supportive world of its own, with so many practise briefs and masterclasses from real-life incredible copywriters from huge brands. Best of all, the people behind Word Tonic are so down to earth, friendly, helpful, and really approachable. What an amazing community. I’m so grateful for Word Tonic and excited to see where it goes!

Started my Word Tonic Journey In December 2024 and plan on staying with them for the future! The Word Tonic community is invaluable when it comes to supporting young copywriters, or simply helping lost individuals who are not sure where they can take their creative writing careers.

Word Tonic provides its members with masterclasses, online meetings, homework, copy briefs and much more. Not to mention Word Tonic's copywriting course makes you look desirable when applying to jobs and networking in the creative industry.

I look forward to what future suprises Word Tonic will bring to my table, and I highly recommend young creatives to give it a go!

Joined in December last year because I was at my breaking point. I wasn't getting any responses from jobs and all the other copywriting course were a little out of my price range. That's when I found Word Tonic through one of my mutuals on LinkedIN. A community of Gen-Z writers sounded too good to be true but as I worked through their discourse channels and bought their copywriting course, I have vastly improved my copywriting skills. I now post more content on my website and LinkedIn and got the courage to send messages to people who are experts in their fields.
I'm also asking for portfolio feedback from the word tonic community and they are helping me to improve for future clients/employers.
Also they have a creative writing channel which i love!
All in all if you're a gen-z writer and don't where to start, I'd say join Word Tonic. It really does help!

Word Tonic is an amazing community that I had the pleasure of joining a couple months ago. They have this beautiful message that copywriting is for absolutely everyone, and they encourage you to follow your copywriting dreams no matter what! They have these awesome masterclasses you can join once you become a member, and there's even a Discord community you become a part of. In that community, you meet follow beginner and experienced copywriters, and you have all these amazing resources at your fingertips like what makes great copy and how to write it. Overall, I think Word Tonic is worth spending your time and money in. It really does make you a great writer, and it makes you see that you can pursue a world you never thought you could pursue. You can put your foot in the door and make your dreams come true. Thank you, Word Tonic, for amazing lessons so far! Can't wait to learn more.

I've really enjoyed the networking and referral opportunities that have come from being part of the Word Tonic - Carolyn has done a fantastic job establishing it as a mainstay of the copywriting industry and providing a valuable space for Gen Zs to connect professionally, and personally.

Herein lies a marvelous community of creative and talented bunch, always willing to help others and give advice.

Recently I've been curious about what counts as "revolutionizing." I might think that Word Tonic can work as one, as it paves the way into "business" without losing the self. I've seen personas forced to comply into uniform, so the open spirit of Word Tonic along with professionalism is PEAK. It makes me feel free and able instead of just trudging through.

Word Tonic has been an amazing community to be a part of! I have learnt so much about creating engaging copy and have enjoyed engaging with the plethora of masterclasses from some of my favourite brands.
The community aspect of Word Tonic is amazing as we all share copy we've made and give each other feedback, participate in challenges and sometimes share cool copy we've seen in the wild! Before the end of 2024, I was casually spamming instagram reels with my best friend when she sent me the profile of an account by the name of Word Tonic. Intrigued by the colors and the funky font, I took a peek.

Now Word Tonic is my whole personality.

What exactly is Word Tonic, you ask? I mean, besides the best community of young writers learning to hone their skills and delve into the world of copywriting?

Okay, but seriously, before finding out about Word Tonic, I didn't know much about copywriting. I'd see the word floating around, but never knew what it meant. Then one fateful day (after my best friend sent me their instagram), I saw an ad for a free copywriting call. Intrigued, I signed up for it.

It was the best decision ever.

Just the call alone taught me a little bit about copywriting. The phrases on billboard ads, company slogans, radio jingles. Those are all copywriting, and I wanted to know how to come up with memorable slogans like those.

So, I took a leap and joined Word Tonic.

I'm learning so many great copywriting tips and I'm able to join in calls with employees from companies like Doc Martens and Logitech.

Honestly, I can feel myself becoming a more productive person since joining Word Tonic and I'm glad I took that step forward into becoming a future copywriter.

Word Tonic has been an amazing resource during my career switch from finance to marketing and communications. The Gen-Z community, especially on the Discord channel, is incredible. Everyone is so supportive, sharing advice, feedback, and opportunities. It’s a space that truly encourages growth and creativity.

Their briefs and masterclasses are fantastic. The briefs challenge you to think outside the box and have helped me build a strong portfolio, while the masterclasses (featuring experts from brands like Duolingo, Crunchyroll, and Airbnb) offer practical, real-world insights. I’ve applied what I’ve learned here, such as improving my social media copywriting and connecting with audiences, directly in my job, and it’s made a significant difference.

If you’re looking to grow your skills and connect with like-minded creatives, I can’t recommend Word Tonic enough!

Before I joined Word Tonic, I was doing a STEM course I hated. I literally had no clue what to do after I graduated, and that was terrifying me. Genuinely keeping me up at night.

Now, I'm still in that course and I still hate it, BUT I know where I'm going and what I'm doing. I've found something that gets me really excited that I can actually make a career out of. There's so much positivity, helpful advice and feedback, interesting discussion, not to mention the masterclasses which I've taken loads of notes from. Everyone I've talked to has been such a cool person, it's such a friendly and tight-knit community especially considering how big it is. I feel like I've made friends and found my direction in life.

If you're in a similar situation, and you think copywriting might be the answer, then I really think you should join, at least for a month. You've not got much to lose and it could unlock a whole new world of opportunities to you.

You don't even JUST learn copywriting. I learnt a lot about the freelancing industry more generally and how it's actually way more feasible and than I thought. I learnt LOADS about navigating LinkedIn, networking, and making opportunities for yourself.

I so appreciate that Word Tonic makes this so accessible to someone who maybe hasn't been exposed to all the career possibilities or been taught about businesssy stuff, instead of being one of those shady YouTube gurus who promise their £500 copywriting course will get you earning £10,000 in a month.

Sorry this review is super sappy I promise I'm not being paid to write this, I'm just really passionate about it; my life has been so turned around.
