In 1840 William Wright commenced gold beating on his own account in the City of London. At this time the majority of the larger towns and cities numbered at least one gold beater among their many craftsmen. Somewhere around 1870 the business was transferred to premises in 19 Bridge Street, Manchester. Here the work was carried out in a cellar and passers-by were able to watch the activity through a grille in the pavement.

Unfortunately I made an error…

Unfortunately I made an error purchasing from this company, the product I bought was very poor quality and lasted just a few months, it is now unfortunately unfit for purpose.
I attempted to resolve this with customer service but their response was unhelpful and I am left disappointed, there are other sellers of gilding supplies that provide better.

Abysmal customer service!

Possibly the worst online shopping experience I've had. I paid for my order via PayPal. Their account had been hacked, so the payment went to the hacker's ID. They confirmed with their IT about this, apologised, and then didn't do anything else. I had to struggle with PayPal to resolve the dispute that took 6 months.

In the meantime I went ahead with my order (with card this time) and ordered some gold and an agate burnisher. The burnisher fell out from its ferrule within three months.

Still, in my folly, I placed a third order few months later. I was staying at a hotel and the delivery time was well within my stay. But they delayed the shipment to the point that it was going to arrive after I had checked out. I wrote to them several times, requesting them first to 1) expedite, and later 2) update the delivery address to my next location. They never bothered to even respond to my emails, or follow up. Ultimately I had to ask the hotel to ship the parcel forward.

Absolutely dreadful customer service. I would most definitely NOT recommend Wrights of Lymm.
