I have just (today) taken a 2yr warranty policy out with the AA on behalf of my Son in an attempt to give him piece of mind, at a cost of £624.00, regarding a quality pre owned car he has recently purchased.
I have to commend Moz for his help and tenacity regarding setting this up, as he has been extremely thorough, patient and polite throughout my last 3 weeks of deliberating.
However having just logged on to review my initial experience regarding setting this policy up, (which has been first class) I have only just read the other reviews, and not only do I realise that I should have perhaps checked the reviews prior, but I am genuinely surprised, as being a 59 yr old male motorist spanning nearly 4 decades of driving, our generation grew up trusting everything that the AA stands for, and as such, I genuinely hope they will be there for my Son, as they have been for myself, my Father and Grandad before me, enabling ourselves to give another 5 Star review should we need their help.
If not, then this is a sad indictment on a once much respected organisation.
Thanks again Moz, & 'Fingers Crossed'!

Have taken a warranty on my Bmw 7 series.
Had an issue with the turbo, it was losing
Power and the engine management light was on.
We rang up the warranty line, they told to get it looked at, we did and it was the turbo failing. They approved the repair quickly, and I had my car back up and running within 4 days. The bill was authorised and it’s all been taken care of quickly. It’s good to have the assurance of the extended AA warranty on the car, especially
Higher value cars where so much can go wrong!

Disappointed and disgusted with how we have been treated - we have to pay £2000 to get the car stripped before they will look at our claim! Avoid at all costs

Am currently experiencing dreadful customer service with Optiven who manage these policies ...declining to pay out for issues that are not excluded in my policy document with inadequate explanation re the decision making process

After my 1st negative review i had a message from Mark he did ask what is the problem and he did all the best he could to help me out. I can clearly say my car has been sorted they have covered around £4000 to get my car fixed. Thank you Mark for your help. I'm so glad you have been in touch with me when i have made a claim.

I was about to purchase your plan, but I decided to check the reviews first. I was surprised to see so many negative ones, with little to no reasonable responses from your side. It gives the impression that, like other unreliable companies, you take payments but avoid responsibility when it comes to service. This lack of accountability is unacceptable. As a result, I’ve decided to go with another provider instead. You need to do better.

This company is a joke and I will make sure everyone I ever speak to knows about it. Paid out for gold star warranty and they have refused to fix my car fi ding loop holes in every which way they can! Now I am left with a useless car that will cost 4.5k to fix! Do not use these!

I am absolutely outraged by the disgraceful lack of support from AA. Not only did they cause catastrophic damage to my intake manifold while attempting to repair my car, but they are now completely refusing to take any responsibility for their mistakes. Instead of offering any kind of resolution, I was met with an infuriatingly dismissive response: “We have also been advised by a Volvo specialist that manifold failures are not uncommon with high-mileage Volvos” and “no repair was attempted,” despite the clear documentation proving otherwise. This is a blatant attempt to avoid accountability . Their customer service is nonexistent, and their refusal to acknowledge or correct their errors is beyond frustrating. I would strongly urge anyone considering their services to stay far away—AA has proven to be utterly unreliable, negligent, and completely unwilling to take responsibility for their actions.

Zero stars.
Had a few years of experience and they will always find a loop hole for not covering and laying out. The more you try following the rules, the better they get at the game.
Don't waste your money or time.
Spoke to the manager and shared my genuine feedback because I do hope they can fix themselves for their own sake.

Paid £500 for an AA warranty that I thought would cover us, I even knew going into the agreement it only covered max £1000/claim ad limited to £50/hr labour rate.
I didn’t appreciate when our car developed a problem they would wriggle out of paying on any technicality they can find. Had an Adblue valve fail, and AA state it is part of the exhaust so not covered. Even Mercedes stated it wasn’t part of the exhaust but works with it, and if you were to replace your exhaust then this part wouldn’t be included.
However, AA thought they knew better than the experts and Mercedes and stood by their decision to say it was part of the exhaust.
I can only give my opinion but I would not recommend using an AA warranty, not worth the paper it is written on.

The policy as previously said by another user - is not worth spending the money on.
I was sent to one of the suggested garages after explaining the fault to the advisor and told to book a diagnostic. I did and paid upfront for it, only to be told after they did so, that I need to go to a main dealership for another diagnostic that could be very costly, as they were unequipped to carry out repairs.
I went back to AA / Opteven to ask that I was re-imbursed for the diagnostic that had taken place, to then be told - they will only re-imburse for a diagnostic if they have agreed to carry out the repairs on the vehicle.
This wasn't mentioned at any point by the advisor over the phone, there not transparent and don't share all the information needed to make an informed decision.
The cover only actually covers a claim limit of £1000 and £50ph for labour. And they will not confirm if the fault is actually covered at all until the cost of labour is determined.
Save your money - its not worth it.

Sadly this policy is not worth the money. They only cover £50 labour and no mechanic on this island charges close to that, therefore the product is not fit-for-purpose. Shame that. It is also not made visible when you take out the policy, so you think you are covered. You would then have to pay in every time you get something done. Additionally, there are many things that they don't cover, for example electric items.. why? Best save the money in an interest-bearing account and use it when you need it.
