I enrolled with this company

I enrolled with this company, paying an $85 fee that I was led to believe would cover one month and a partial month. I assumed that subsequent payments would be automatically deducted from my paycheck, but upon attempting to visit the gym, I was informed that my membership had expired. This experience has been a waste of both money and time due to poor communication and inadequate explanation on the company's website. In a conversation with a representative, I was told that the company partners with insurance providers to offer discounts, which was not disclosed to me initially. I had expected monthly deductions from my paycheck, but it seems I was misinformed. Having had similar experiences in the past without such issues, I am disappointed and would not recommend this company, giving it a zero out of ten rating.

This company is awful!!

This company is awful!!! I wasn’t able to use my membership as I was in the hospital for a MONTH with my father which is a terminal illness. Trying to explain this to them and they could care less. They just kept saying it was being investigated, for two months?! I offered to send documentation to prove to them. I ended up disputing thru my credit card and they responded to that quickly and my credit card with Costco Citi said I’m responsible. Such an awful experience.

This is offered through my employer. It’s not worth it…

Intentionally Difficult to Cancel

Was offered this through USAA as a perk. Worked well in 2021-2023ish but come 2024 gyms began dropping it. Tried to cancel my membership online and couldn't find a way to do it. Had to call the help line where the representative preempted my call by claiming they didn't know about Active and Fit Direct only some other program. Once the account was confirmed they hung up immediately. Hopefully they actually cancelled it.

I hardly know where to start

I hardly know where to start. GOVX was offering the Active & Fit Direct memberships, so I wanted to look into it. The only gym I have anywhere near me is Crunch Fitness, who has three membership levels, which of course made me wonder what level the A&F membership would be. The A&F website gives no information, and while they state that you can use their 'Live Chat' or send them an email, there is no email address given and the 'Live Chat' will only take you back to the FAQ on the website. I finally got through to someone on the phone line, who made it very clear that they do not care if they are charging customers three times what the gym does, and made it very clear that they really don't care about the customers or their product. This is a very sketchy company and one that I would recommend that everyone steer clear of.

Do not use their services

Do not use their services, not worth the money and if you do make sure you cancel the entire program and not just the fitness center because they will charge you and do not refund. Poor customer service, very disappointing.

Listen to everyone's grievances here and DO NOT SIGN UP!

I wanted a gym membership and saw that Cigna provided this as a "benefit". I read the reviews here but I thought I should roll the dice. Now, besides feeling like an idiot for not taking the reviewers seriously, I'm completely sympathetic to everyone having to post their grievances here. I was cheated out of money due to their terrible website and was billed twice. Now I'm paying them double for their terrible service (which I've promptly canceled ... my first and ONLY month).

When you call customer service, you're greeted with an AI assistant which cannot give me the attention needed to rectify my issue as I was double-billed for my membership. When I was finally able to talk to a human after a 45 minute hold, they ended up being worse than the AI. No one can help me with resolving this and removing the additional charge. They stated that it's their "policy" and I should've read it in their T&C. How did I know that their poorly maintained website would double bill me? I was so frustrated after my call that I told them to cancel my membership. I'd rather go and sign up straight from the gym rather than use their horrible service. They'd rather steal money from their customers than truly try to help them. It speaks volumes about their integrity and company culture.

Take heed of everyone's experience here. I'm 1,000,000% convinced they're ligitimate. NO STARS if that was an option.

This company is trash

This company is trash. I had this program for about a year, but in the last two months my membership keeps having problems it keeps getting deactivated after a day. I reached out over 10 times via chat or phone. No solutions were provided I ended up just canceling it and they didn’t even give me a refund. Charging me 28 a month at city sport when I can just get it directly thru them for 29.99$ for any city sport nationally. Active and fit is not worth your time and money.

Malicious- don’t do it

Malicious, deceptive and lousy. I was using them to get a discount on my gym membership via my employer and while you’re using the membership it’s amazing but once you go to cancel they make your life hell. The employees are untrained and don’t give accurate information and they don’t have their customers backs at all. I was told my membership would be canceled after multiple unsuccessful attempts online, and not charged again, neither actions were done. I was charged again and when I called back for a refund, they basically said they could not and there wasn’t anything else that they could do. I was called back by a supervisor a month later and she proceeded to argue with me the entire call and dispute what I was saying and denied to give me a refund. I will never use them again and advise everyone else to not as well. I wish I could complain more about them but buyer beware

Watch out for their tricky charges

I have never signed up for membership at the end of the month and I’m responsible payment for that entire month. When I signed up at other fitness facilities at the end of the month, I was charged for the next full month. For example, if I signed up on 7/25, I was charged for 7/25 - 8/25. This is the first time that I signed up on 7/25 and was charged for the unused days from 7/1-7/24. Whoever is the genius who thought of this should go back to school and repeat their education all over again.

horrible service

I went to the gym, discontinued my gym membership, tried to log into my active and fit app, said I didn't have an account so I called the gym and they told me it should cancel. I waited a month, they charged me so I googled the number, called them and they couldn't verify me, then I was transferred to a representative where I told her the issues I was having and asked if we could refund the money. She asked her supervisor, came back and told me due to the conditions of my contract they couldn't refund me....its ridiculous, I tried many times, many avenues, yet they are not forgiving....I will never use them again.

DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH CROOKS

They purposefully set you up with a false sense that you have control over your membership. Then they Bill, and Bill, and Bill long after cancelation until you finally have to get a new bank or cancel your credit card.
FRAUDS!

07:46 AM | Roxie from Active&Fit Direct: Thank you for providing your information. How may I assist you today?

07:48 AM | Michael Hubbard: I contacted my gym by email on July 29 to cancel my membership and they responded that it was cancelled. Then I was charged for September so I disputed the payment. You have notified me today that my gym had no right to cancel my membership at my request so this charge for September remains my responsibility.

07:48 AM | Michael Hubbard: If the gym can't cancel my membership and they contacted me that it was cancelled how is this MY repsonsibility

07:51 AM | Roxie from Active&Fit Direct: I am happy to assist you with your inquiry and we apologize for the inconvenience. When you enroll into Active and Fit Direct, and then decide to cancel, you cancel on the Active and Fit Direct website, the fitness center does not advise us when members cancel. You log in, chat or call us to cancel. That is how you stop the billing that you initiated with the program. You are not being billed by the fitness center. That is how it is the members responsibility.

07:52 AM | Michael Hubbard: I am 73 years old and my wife entered hospice 6 weeks ago. Admittedly I took what I perceived to be the easiest way to end this membership. You partner with the gym and they told me it was cancelled.

07:52 AM | Michael Hubbard: YOu are being unreasonable.

07:54 AM | Roxie from Active&Fit Direct: Once again we apologize for the inconvenience, but we advise how to enroll and cancel on the terms and conditions when a member enrolls and we are very sorry to hear about your spouse. Those conditions are also advised on the checkout page.

07:54 AM | Roxie from Active&Fit Direct: Is there anything else I can assist you with today?

07:55 AM | Michael Hubbard: I know I am nothing to you and I know that this is only $38.00 to me but honestly, this is ridiculous. I hope to do everything in my power to share my story on your website, google yelp etc.

07:56 AM | Michael Hubbard: word for word.

07:56 AM | Roxie from Active&Fit Direct: We understand and are very sorry for the confusion it has caused.

07:56 AM | Roxie from Active&Fit Direct: Thanks for reaching out to us today. It has been a pleasure assisting you. If there's nothing else I can assist you with today, I wish you a great day ahead. Take Care!

1 Star — Misleading Advertising, Zero Support, Total Scam

I signed up for Active&Fit Direct through Amazon’s internal employee perks. On paper, it looked great: access to multiple gyms under their “standard plan.” Reality? Completely different.

I visited two gym locations listed on their site and made four attempts to use my membership. Each time, staff and even managers had no clue what Active&Fit was or how to process a membership. The gyms were listed as participants, but in practice, I was treated like an unpaying guest.

When I reached out for help, their AI phone system trapped me in loops. It took multiple tries of saying “Customer Service” just to get a human on the line. When I finally spoke to someone, they refused to issue even a partial refund, despite me paying for a month and not being able to use their service once.

Active&Fit Direct is falsely advertising gym partnerships they can’t deliver on, and their customer service is set up to avoid accountability. I’ll be escalating this within Amazon as well, since employees deserve to know how this company operates.

Avoid this service. It’s a waste of time and money.

Where to begin; crooks

Where to begin? Paying for membership, denied membership with excuses “birthdate and zip code” must match… but they still keeping money as they tell you they’ve denied the gym monies owed for membership. The site incorrectly displays birthdate. CSR knows nothing. Asked for supervisor. Supervisor knew less than first rep. Straight-up ripping veterans off. Incompetence. Bait and switch business practices. Not honoring gym memberships yet still keep taking the monthly membership fees from my account for said memberships? Whoa. This company fleeces your bank account and gives you nothing but a runaround in return.

Make sure you cancel 30 days before you…

Make sure you cancel 30 days before you decide you are going to have an injury or cant go to the gym or if you decide to go directly through a gym because THEY DO NOT DO REFUNDS! Even if they can see you aren't going and you ask for a refund within a 1 day of starting and billing you are out the money. I MISSED THE CANCEL BY A DAY!!!! They refused to refund.
