Work with the staff, and you'll get it right!

I went to the #09242 store in Golden Gate city today for a battery warranty claim which turned out to be tricky one, but the staff got it right at the end; they were knowledgeable, patient and professional. Special thanks to David, who's attitude, communication skills and knowledge were key for handling the issue properly.
Thank you, David!

I'm done paying for poor customer service....

I had to give it a one when I wanted to give it a zero. I am writing to express my strong disappointment with a recent experience involving one of your representatives.

I was originally intending to keep this communication civil, but the poor customer service I received, specifically from the representative who answered the phone, was unacceptable. As someone who brings frequent business to car shops, including yours, I am sick and tired of poor customer service and have now taken my business elsewhere.

Great customer service should be a given, especially considering the competitive market. I believe this issue needs to be addressed immediately.

Ordered online forever for a rude refund

Ordered online. No shipment. No update. Finally after 40 days was able to have a refund processed for an additional 8 day wait. The online chat agent for their company was rude at the end as well. Awful service with shoddy parts and inaccurate inventory. Avoid shopping here.

They Make it Impossible to Use Battery Warranty

I bought a 4-year warranty on my car battery. We're two years in and I take the car in to be checked. The shop tells me the battery is only charging at 50% and to check with the warranty holder. They say they think it's going bad. I bought it in another state so I call the closest location to me now.

First, they're like, well you'll need the receipt for me to look it up. (Which I have because I keep everything.) However, I find it hard to believe a national company which tracks all purchases can't look up a warranty? Seems fishy but fine.

I explain the situation. The guy tells me I need to bring the battery in the store. I said, I don't know how to remove it, can they remove it if I bring the car in. He said, "No, they aren't a shop." I point out that they installed it and I offered to pay to have them remove the battery to be tested. He tells me they only do first time installations. I point out, I would need to go somewhere else, purchase an entirely new battery to then drive over to hand him the battery that is defective to be tested. "And it needs to be tested for four hours," he tells me.

What is the point of purchasing a warranty on a battery when they make it impossible to actually use it? Worst customer service and that's saying something given the state of the car industry in general.

Poor Customer Support

The customer service department at Advance Auto Parts provided absolutely no support for a warranty claim on a failed part. I recommend buying parts elsewhere if you want to avoid the frustration of dealing with them. This company is not thriving for good reason.

Advance Auto Rocky River Road

Feeling out this survey, I honestly forgot how rude things were when I came in today. I was not greeted and it was noticeable as it appears the manager was standing by himself at the front register and did not say a thing. It felt extremely awkward. I bought a bolt that I was skeptical to buy but the manager advised that it was for the truck that I have so I took his word for it. It turns out that it was the wrong size bolt and when I bought it back looking to return it for the correct size he said (the mgr) would not return it. I told him that I would be fine with exchanging or store credit but he would not do either. I asked multiple times about exchanging it because I never had this issue in the past 20 years and I have spent thousands of dollars at advance over the past 20 years as my main auto parts supplier on my older cars and trucks. This is actually on top of the fact that I was sent a brake hose in the mail that should have included the washers from advance but did not the previous day. After not being able to exchange or obtain store credit for a part the manager advised would work, I went to NAPA on Albemarle Rd and they did have the correct size and they also gave me the additional washers that Advance should have sent me for free. They have just gained a very loyal customer. Its a shame but I cannot afford to waste money like this at a store and feeling slightly disrespected as a customer. In my honest opinion, the Rocky River store where I bought the bolt from has not had the same service I used to be used to a couple years ago. Lastly, per the question above, I asked the manager at checkout if I can use my Speed Perks credit and he said, you can use it online... I am sure I am missing something in this review but I will leave it at that for now. I will be enjoying NAPA after I use up whatever is left on my Speed Perks credit.

Excellent customer service

I had an outstanding experience at Advance Auto Parts store at Parksburg today. The representative who assisted me namely Damian was incredibly professional, courteous, and knowledgeable. He went above and beyond to help me, taking the time to explain everything clearly and ensure I had exactly what I needed. Damian customer service was exceptional rare to find these days and truly made my visit a pleasure. I left feeling confident and well taken care of. Thank you for your dedication and for setting such a high standard for customer service!

Terrible customer service in Adrian

Terrible customer service in Adrian, MI. Went in to pick up an online order and stood at the order pickup desk. They were helping other customers at the time so I waited. Was never acknowledged or asked if I needed help. After they went to other customers that came in after me, I asked why I wasnt being helped. Was told" I needed to get in line at the other registers", yet there was an order pickup desk and NOBODY asked if I needed help, even though I was standing right next to the guy at the registers. COMPLETE lack of customer service and NO REASON to order online for easier pickup as you are ignored and no designated customer service for that. WHAT A JOKE-WILL NOT EVER RETURN AND WILL LET ORDER CANCEL.

Carquest Platinum rotors are crap!

I purchased Carquest rotors and they totally fell apart. The machined surface flaked off, jammed the caliper locking up a rear wheel. I missed the 2 yr warranty by about 1 month but want to add that these were rear rotors and all my driving is highway miles hence I don’t use the brakes that often. Most people would have had to junk these within a few months. I wish i could attach a picture so anyone seeing these rotors will never buy this Chinese junk.
Also these Carquest platinum rotors advertise: “Meets or Exceeds OEM Design” NOT TRUE! My original OEM’s lasted 8 years and still never fell apart.

Advanced auto part

Last month, I bought TPMS sensors for a Mercedes-Benz at Advance Auto Parts store #06301 . After the sensor was installed in a tire shop, I programmed the sensor, but my dashboard is still showing the tire pressure sign. I took the car to the dealer, and I was told the tire sensor is not compatible with my Benz. The dealer installed the new tire sensor, and it was working well, so I returned the old sensor I was given by the dealer . On 04/26/2025, when I returned the tire sensor to Advance Auto Parts, store #06301 at 1209 MacDale Blvd., Collingdale, PA, where I bought it, the attendant that I attended to, a white lady that I brought it for , told me that the sensor I returned was not the right one and showed me the right one. I looked at the box to see the number, and I was wrong. I told her that’s what the mechanic that took the sensor out gave me. I took pictures of the right one, and as I was stepping out, I overheard the cashier telling her coworker that I tried to use it on her and that I am a thief, and immediately I told her she’s wrong. This is disrespectful. I am a veteran; $49 is nothing.

Went to the Grove City store to buy a…

Went to the Grove City store to buy a battery. Told them I had the core in the car but it was to heavy and needed a cart to get it. Sold me the new battery and charged me a core charge. After I paid I noticed the core charge and asked why. He said I have to till you bring the battery in the store and I asked why he didn’t tell me that in advance. So I bring the battery in and have to go through the hassle of the refund back on my charger card. Then I noticed I didn’t get any tax back. The manager stepped in and said we don’t charge tax on cores.so I figured out the tact on the 209.99 dollar battery and yes you do charge tax on cores but don’t give it back when the core is returned. The sales man had a hard time lifting the battery on to the cart but do you think he offered to help unload the battery in the truck or bring the core in, no he didn’t. I would like to see he carry the core in to the store and then find out the battery didn’t show up and have to carry it back out.

You won't believe this!

You won't believe this!. Awhile ago we needed a new battery. This weekend we went to see friends and had issues with the car not starting & needing it jumped. Come to find out today the technician put the wrong battery in our car!!! Yes it was under warranty. No they will not replace it without us needing to buy a new one being it is not the battery for our car! Are you frigging kidding me $218 for a battery when they put the wrong one in!!! They told us they could replace it with the one he put in but they don't even have it at this location or the one we ended up going to across town when this one machine didn't work to test the battery. Needless to say I am livid.

Advance Auto Ain’t It

Overpriced parts, rude customer service, and half the stuff is always outta stock. Employees don’t seem to know much, either. Just not worth the hassle.

Purchased some "Premium" brake pads…

Purchased some "Premium" brake pads with a limited lifetime warranty.
Later needed to replace them and went to get more. While there asked about the lifetime warranty, which was ignored. Asked a second time and then they looked up the last purchase of brake pads.
They said that sure I had purchased the "Premium" pads, but Advance Auto Limited Lifetime warranty is only 45 days.
I told him that was ridiculous and lead brake pads would last that long. He then stated that it had other criteria, such as the mileage.
I told him that no one asked me the mileage at purchase, how can that be used as criteria?
He just shrugged and asked which pads I wanted. I told him none. Will not purchase at Advance Auto again.

BEWARE OF ADVANCE AUTO PARTS

Advance Auto Parts sells really bad quality parts cost hundreds of dollars in mechanic fees and also damaging other related parts in your car. When You call corporate to complain you speak to a VERY uninformed warm body who are being paid to listen to your fury and reply with the normal corporate reply "we are so sorry to hear you had a bad experience with us" nonsense. You are on your own buddy !!
