Delivery and fitting of new dishwasher

I had a text message on the day my dishwasher was to be fitted. I had a phonecall to tell me the fitters (Steve and Paul) would be with me in 5 minutes. They were. They were courteous and professional. They knew exactly what they were doing and fitted the dishwasher, showed me how to use it and answered my questions the various cycles.They were very knowledgeable. I would recommend Affordable and Stylish

Wonderful service from start to finish

Wonderful service from start to finish. The team at Affordable and Stylish created our dream kitchen while adapting to our needs along the way. Communication was almost instant and always accommodating. We cannot recommend this family business enough for quality, style and cost. Thank you.

Myself and various family members have…

Myself and various family members have been using Affordable and Stylish for many years and have always had excellent service. My most recent encounter was for a damaged Neff glass oven door which I had smashed - the replacement was ordered and then, when I could not refit the door myself, John visited my home to reattach to the oven. Quick, friendly and professional service as always. Much appreciated .

Avoid at all costs

They collected keys to my property from my agent & i was advised they were "Trusted" contractors.

They were suppose to fit a washer, take the old one & go.

My home is immaculate at all times & never has a thing out of place.

On returning home I intially noticed they had left mess all outside the front door & in a communal corridor which they had not bothered to clean up.

On entering my flat, i was alarmed to see they had sat on the sofa, leaving all the cushions mess & not putting them back.

Someone had also been in my bedroom & sat on the bed leaving a very clear mark & impression on the bedding

They had used the bathroom, left dirty toilet paper on top of the toilet, knocked the toilet roll holder & left the sink dirty & shower matt moved.

The bathroom door was wide open when i left for work at 07:00 Am & fully shut after their visit.

I raised it with the agent & they in turn responded saying their team denied any of this.

Stay clear of them

Do not trust them & certainly do not allow them in your house when you are not present.

Company dIfficult to deal with.

I went with this company based on a neighbour’s recommendation, but our experience was overwhelmingly negative. While some issues were eventually resolved, it was a stressful, frustrating process, and we would never use them again.

I think how a company deals with issues that arise is very important. When we raised concerns, we felt A&S were defensive rather than solution focused. Even when they agreed to fix mistakes, it felt like they tried to blame us, saying we had “yanked” the taps and were giving them “grief.” One email came across as so unprofessional that we initially thought we’d been mistakenly CC’d into it—but they confirmed it was intentional.

Problems We Experienced:
• Damage to our home: Damage to the kitchen ceiling, a nail through electrical wiring, unprotected carpets in some areas, holes and cracks in the bedroom wall (all eventually rectified but we did have the repaint the bedroom wall ourselves)
• Workmanship: Taps coming loose, sealant failing in multiple places, a scratched towel rail, and a door frame left damaged from improper rehanging (rectified over 2 months later after multiple emails and requests from us).
• Project management: If we weren’t available to answer questions from the subcontracted fitters about what went where, they seemed to guess—at times mistakes were made which had to be redone. This continued all through the project when the fitter came to complete the final snag list he was only give 1 of the 7 snags (despite there being a PDF from both us and one of their workmen they could have shared with him). This led to delays as he needed more time then allocated.
• Communication: I ended up taking over dealing with A&S as I felt I got very different responses than my wife was getting. For whatever reason they seemed more cordial with me and at one point they even rang me to ask me to tell my wife they were not going to respond to an email from her. I requested they did respond in writing as we had written the email together.

We eventually got the bathroom to a satisfactory standard, but that was more due to our persistence and one of their subcontracted fitters who did support us. If we had been more passive the final bathroom is unlikely to be in the condition is in now as it seemed they would have been happy to leave the job half finished.

A&S Response: Firstly we have to rebut your comments as we have never dealt with such difficult clients in 40 years of business. Particularly your wife Beth Hodgson, who was be very difficult to deal with when decisions needed to be made often stating she is totally unavailable to call calls - this was frustrating when decisions needed to be made. Furthermore, we were told the reason this client had a new bathroom was due to a leak and so they had to redecorate the ceiling that Mr Hodgson referred to. New joists were replaced in the flooring which caused a nail to penetrate and David said it was fine as he was redecorating following the leak in any event. It should also be noted that we do NOT use sub contractors - all of our personnel are employed and have worked here for over 10 years (minimum). The bathroom is beautiful, but Beth told our project manager that they don't do anything themselves...please be aware that everything and everyone are beneath these people sadly and they treat people very poorly and look down on them. Take a look at all of our other reviews....we have been here for 40 years and our customers are always left satisfied. We are not perfect but we will always try our very best to put anything right and accommodate our customers wishes.....Regrettably nothing you do for these clients would ever be good enough!!! If you are a fair minded person, you will read between the lines and see that this is sabotage and spiteful when we tried so very hard for them.

AFFORDABLE AND STYLISH SAYS IT ALL

I needed a new hob but had no idea where to start. I made enquiries amongst friends and was told to go to A&S and speak to Sue.
I contacted her and gave her the relevant details regarding my hob. She ordered the updated version.
There was a delay but since I had an almost working hob it didn’t matter.
It was when my hob stopped working that she showed how good she really is. Within an hour of my call she had sourced a replacement which was available immediately and was less expensive.
It was fitted by two lovely gentlemen who also removed old hob.
Thank you Sue, I really love my new hob.

Exceptional service

Ordinarily, I don't leave reviews or recommendations in case someone has a different experience than myself.
On this occasion, however, I feel compelled to highly recommend this outlet.
In brief, like most people, I would ordinarily have gone to a high street department store. I have walked past this shop on many occasions. So when my fridge/freezer suddenly packed up, I thought I would give it a try.
To my great surprise, the prices, compared to the high street retailers, were comparable. Affordable & Stylish is apparently a family run business, and in my opinion, these businesses need to survive.
I spoke to a lady called Sue. She was excellent, giving me unbiased recommendations for what I needed. There was no hard sell or pressure of any sort. I went ahead with my purchase and was given a fast delivery date.
The two delivery men (sadly, I didn't get their names) kept me informed by phone calls, not text, as to when they expected to arrive.
They arrived on time and were very polite and friendly. They unpacked the fridge freezer in the back of their van, as it started to rain, and within literally a minute, it was sitting proudly in my kitchen. They then took away my old fridge/freezer, taking great care, even though it was broken and going to be scrapped.
Overall, it was a very pleasing shopping experience. I would HIGHLY recommend this shop. If nothing else, try them before buying from elsewhere. Let's all help these family-friendly businesses.
Whenever I need anything electrical, this will be the first place I go.
