Avoid this airline if travelling on long flights

We flew with this airline to Cancun this year and was our first and last time to use them. The only positive I can give them was the flights were on time but everything else was very poor. We were given one hot meal then a muffin and drink before we landed and that's on a 9hrs flight. If you wanted anything else you had to pay. Also the service of the flight attendants was very disappointing as we wanted a glass of water and pressed the call button but after 15 mins no one responding it was cancelled by them. Other passengers were experiencing same thing even after trying several times. All staff were no where to be seen for a long time and only came back for the duty free service. I would definitely avoid and seek alternative airlines.

The airline lost my disabled son's…

The airline lost my disabled son's wheelchair. It was very important, as the chair is custom-made for his specific needs and posture, since my son has no hips.
In the email Air Europe sent me, they asked for the price, invoices, a police report, etc.
The wheelchair belongs to the (NHS) in London. I filed a formal complaint because they told me they would send it soon, but we still haven't received it. My son is suffering from severe back pain and has a curved spine because he doesn't have the right chair.
I'm trying to contact them, but I haven't been able to, so we need the chair ASAP.
Furthermore, a crew member told me it was my responsibility to look after the wheelchair. Therefore, I'm not sure I would recommend traveling with Air Europe if you have special needs.

Worst airline experience I’ve ever had.

Worst airline experience I’ve ever had.

The seats were by far the most uncomfortable I’ve encountered on a long-haul flight—eight to ten hours felt endless, with barely any space or basic comfort. It honestly felt like being treated without consideration for passengers’ wellbeing.

The cabin crew were disappointing: impolite, inattentive, and unprofessional. During the so-called “breakfast” service (which didn’t even include food), I politely asked for water. I was told to wait, but after several minutes the crew moved on and never came back. I used the call button multiple times, yet no one responded.

For a flight of this duration, the service was inadequate. Only one meal was provided, with no additional refreshments apart from water. Even basic items like earphones were sold for €3, which feels unreasonable given the overall ticket price.

Overall, despite being expensive, the experience felt closer to a low-cost airline—without even delivering the minimum level of service you’d expect.

Worst airline ever.

Worst airline ever.
The crew on board are terrible, impolite and awful.
For a 10 hour flight, the serve only one meal and no refreshments during thee flight but water. They charge 3 euros for the useless earphones. It's expensive but it seems a low cost.

I strongly advise others to be cautious when dealing with reimbursement claims with this airline.

I am extremely disappointed with Air Europa and the way my reimbursement claim has been handled.

I have been claiming my passenger rights since February, when I was first notified that my flight had been cancelled. Instead of receiving proper support, I have faced delays, lack of transparency, and what feels like an arbitrary closure of my case without a fair resolution.

The claim was closed by the Customer Relations department with a generic response stating that they had reviewed the case again and decided to close the file without proceeding with my reimbursement request. No clear legal justification was provided, no real explanation was given, and no willingness to resolve the issue was shown.

I then opened a new request, which has also been ignored with no response at all.

What makes this even worse is that customer service is unable to help once the case is assigned to the Customer Relations department. Every time I called, I was told they could do nothing other than flagging the email and could not provide any update or support. This leaves customers completely abandoned, with no real channel to defend their rights.

It is extremely unfair that an airline operates this way, especially when passengers are simply asking for reimbursement they are legally entitled to. The handling of this case shows a serious lack of accountability and very little understanding of customer rights.

I expected professionalism and fairness. Instead, I found silence, dismissal, and a complete refusal to take responsibility.

I strongly advise others to be cautious when dealing with reimbursement claims with this airline. I personally would avoid purchasing tickets with this airline again.

I had a very disappointing experience…

I had a very disappointing experience on my flight from Gatwick - Madrid - Bogota 27/03/26 and come back 12/04/2026. I’ve travelled long-haul many times and this was honestly one of the worst experiences I’ve had.

First of all, I was shocked to find that headphones were not complimentary on such a long flight – they had to be purchased for €3. This has never happened to me before on any long-haul journey. Make sure you bring your own. I will try to attach photos of the plug so others can be prepared.

Secondly, the way the staff handled “extras” was quite uncomfortable. I noticed some passengers were given items for free, including headphones and WiFi access, while others were told to pay. When people asked why, staff openly said it was because the person was “staff.” This felt very unprofessional and disrespectful. If there are exceptions, they should be handled discreetly, not in a way that makes other passengers feel treated unfairly.

Another big disappointment was the food. There is essentially only one meal included with complimentary drinks. After that, everything must be purchased. Before landing, there wasn’t really a second meal – just a muffin and coffee. For a long-haul flight, this is far below expectations.

What makes it worse is that the ticket price was not cheaper than other airlines, so there is no justification for such limited service.

Overall, I’m very disappointed. This experience has put me off flying with this airline again, and I will be sharing my experience with friends and family. Major improvements are needed.

Air Europa desperately in need of your money

In Madrid I was refused boarding, on my way from La Palma (Canarias) to Paraguay, with 8 suitcases, my son and my cat. They labelled me ""no Show", allthough I had notified the AE counter right away.
I had to buy all new tickets and procure for a unnecessary export document for the cat and stay 4 nights in a hotel in Madrid

Purchased seats went wrong and got no invoice til now

I purchased seats for myself and my son during check-in, but I never received any confirmation of the purchase. At the airport, they asked me to buy seats again. I explained that I had already paid by credit card. The amount was still reserved on my card (which is normal as a security precaution), and I told them Air Europa would receive the payment the next day. However, they still insisted that I pay again.

I became very frustrated and went to the help desk to explain the situation. The staff there confirmed that I had paid and told me to go back to the check-in desk.

Once I got home, I tried to obtain an invoice. I emailed craireuropa
, but they told me that because I bought the seats through the Air Europa website, I had to call their phone number (+34 911 401 501), which is not a free number. I replied, explaining that I had purchased the seats during online check-in on the Air Europa website, but I never received a response.

I then called and spent 30 minutes explaining that I simply needed an invoice. Due to their poor English, I was put on hold three times, and in the end the call was disconnected.

This is a very unprofessional company. Unfriendly and unexperience stuff. When you purchase something, you should automatically receive an invoice, you shouldn’t have to beg for it, especially when the amount has already been charged to your credit card. I will never fly with Air Europa again.

Bedbugs Infestation!

I paid in advance to select seats near the front of the plane so my family could sit together, and I have the confirmation email to prove it. However, at check-in, we were reassigned to the very last row next to the bathrooms, and not even seated together. The staff claimed my credit card hadn’t paid for the seats, which makes no sense since I purchased both the tickets and seat selections at the same time. Despite showing proof, they told us the flight was full and there was nothing they could do.

To make matters worse, we were forced to check our carry-on bags because the flight was overbooked. One of those bags was returned damaged.

After the flight, things got even worse. My son and daughter developed severe rashes, which were later confirmed to be caused by bedbugs. Now we’re dealing with the stress and cost of potentially having brought them home, which is an absolute nightmare.

This was, without question, the worst flying experience I have ever had.

They don’t care about the luggages

I’ve traveled with Azul and Air Europa in a long distance flight . I had a big luggage and a small carry on and when I was checking my luggage they told me to please also put my small 10 kilos luggage inside the plane because the flight was full . I did and I’ll never ever do that again they’ve broke my luggage , when I arrived only the big luggage came the small was lost . In 48 hours they brought my luggage broke, can’t be used anymore. I’ve filled a complaint and the airline told me thar they will take care of my case and I didn’t have to look for another way of getting a compensation. I had 7 days to complain.
Today after 3 months they’ve send an email saying that my luggage damage is normal because is a small luggage and breaks easily !!!!
Hellloooo , you broke it , it was a really good luggage and I had been using it everywhere without any problem.
Shame on you Air Europa :(

I am sharing this experience to warn…

I am sharing this experience to warn other travelers.

A passenger was denied boarding on an Air Europa flight from Caracas to Madrid and onward to Vienna, despite having valid travel documents and a confirmed trip.

The reason was extremely concerning: her hotel booking, made via Booking.com (a well-established international platform), could not be confirmed by phone at that exact moment. Airport staff attempted to call the hotel in Vienna and, because no one answered, treated the booking as suspicious.

Since when is a passenger required to confirm a hotel booking by phone in order to travel?

She was treated as if she had done something wrong and was effectively placed under suspicion simply for using an international platform instead of a local agency. The situation escalated to a level that felt discriminatory and unjustified.

She was then given an ultimatum by ground staff: either the hotel must be reached immediately or she had to “solve the problem within 10 minutes,” otherwise she would lose her flight.

Under this time and financial pressure, she was forced to book a new hotel at the airport through a local agency at a significantly higher price.

Even after complying, she was still denied boarding.

No rebooking. No assistance. No support.

She returned the next day, as instructed, to speak with a manager. Instead of resolving the situation, she was told it was her own fault and that her money was lost.

What is even more concerning is what happened afterwards:

The airline has refused to provide any meaningful resolution and continues to rely on the same excuse — claiming that no booking can be found in their system under the passenger’s name — despite being provided with full details such as name, route, and travel dates.

Avoiding responsibility in this way, instead of properly investigating what happened, is unacceptable.

Passengers should not be treated like this.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY AVOID AT ALL…

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!! we booked a holiday through loveholidays, who have not been very helpful either. We are a party of 4 people, the flight is scheduled from London Gatwick to Madrid, Madrid to Gran Canaria, the detail of the flight was quite small, not really noticeable. After I booked within a couple of days, I realised and contacted love holidays, they state the flights are non refundable. They contacted Air Europa explained there are three disabled passengers that is unable to do that amount of travel due to severe spinal problems. They requested a letter, which I paid for, and then declined any refund at all. WHY ASK FOR A LETTER AND THEN REFUSE TO REFUND. This company is full of cowboys it’s awful, they have no compassion at all, sometimes these things are out of someone’s control, not this company!!! We are going to take our story to the press, I will also be writing about them in all social media platforms. COWBOYS STAY AWAY!! This is not the last you have heard from us. You’re a disgrace, these flights are not until September and they will resell the tickets for sure.

Gobsmacked at the worst service I have…

Gobsmacked at the worst service I have ever experienced long haul. I have done so many long haul flights with numerous airlines, some better/worse than others but my goodness this one had my whole row and row in front laughing. The staff are SO rude, I have never experienced anything like it. Totally abrupt, no care, very snappy and as if you’re a a nuisance for asking for a glass of water because the service doesn’t exist and everyone was thirsty. Bring your own food on the plane, we did 11 hours and got one meal, which is a bread roll, main dish and cake, and then a muffin with a drink. They only served alcohol with the dinner which is fair enough, although some people were annoyed that it wasn’t free the entire flight. However when we asked for another drink of Coke, we were told no they can’t sell us Coke? (Firstly, what do ya mean sell?) And inbetween the flight a trolley came round where you had to purchase more just once? A lady told my partner to go back to his seat and wait when he asked for a G&T, then after calling the button twice (first one ignored), he was told in a huff by another attendance to go to the back and get it! Maybe also a language barrier as this was a Brazil to Gatwick flight and they only seemed to speak Spanish? So everyone seemed to be butting heads. It was laughable honestly and everyone spent the bus journey back to the airport after collectively agreeing about how terrible the food and service was. The seats however, very comfy, I’ll give them that.

This airline never fails to surprise in…

This airline never fails to surprise in its lack of customer service.
Others have said it all before but I have to emphasise the point; it's an appalling excuse for an airline.
I've never used Air Europa for anything but long haul flights and I'll say this, you are better seeking out an established carrier because the prices are comparable, and regularly the big names are considerably cheaper.
Should you have the misfortune to have a delay you're entitled to compensation, it's EU/UK law. Just try claiming against Air Europa!
In a word:AVOID!!
