Akita is a scam product. Do not waste your money!
Scam product on kickstarter. Very poor communication from the overseas company. They sold "subscriptions" with a company and then cut ties with them before shipping the product. Once the product was shipped, the tracking for majority of the units went to the wrong state, and then marked as undeliverable. Several weeks later (almost a year after initial shipping estimate), got a new tracking number and the product was delivered. Based on kickstarter user comments, did not even plug it into my network, and sent it to a user who was still waiting for theirs so it wouldn't end up in the trash as quickly as it would have otherwise. Scam of a business.
Horrible experience
Horrible experience, and extra charges added without warning or good reason.
Awful
Awful. Avoid like the plague. Don’t deliver on any promises and then try and charge more. Total scam
Untrustworthy company
Was a backer of the kickstarter campaign, had do wait over a year with a few few updates that kept repeating the same lies about delays and now that my order is "ready" and in the hands of their logistic partner (Seko) I should pony up over 20€ more to receive it when I already paid for shipping ? No way !
Keep clear from them ! I'll never test their product by myself but from what I've seen around the web it's not even worth it....
The company has been very poor
The company has been very poor in communication. It's not clear how the system works and they are not as transparent as they promised.
edit: the product is held back by a third party and only released if you pay additional charges. they claim its 'normal custom charges' but this practice does not seem to comply with the GDPR (among other things).
also, the company has threatened everyone who posts their experiences with legal action.
Terrible scam
Terrible scam! Don’t give them a penny!
I was ripped off by their Kickstarter scam. They delayed so long that the credit card company won’t intervene. Akita is keeping the money they raised, but not sending me the product.
What a joke
I backed this project 17 months ago on Kickstarter. They’ve sent me numerous requests for updated shipping address, which I’ve provided again and again. Here we are and still no Akita, though I can buy the product of amazon and have it here in two days. This is a complete joke and will be working with my bank to obtain a refund.
Was an early backer on Kickstarter, it's been a joke
Was an early backer on Kickstarter, Months and months of promises, no communication , delays on delivery , dates pass, no communication , promises made then broken, Device appears on Amazon before backers get device. 3rd party shipper then requests extra money for customs duty..
I don't even have the device yet.. its been one big scam
Another Kickstarter scam
Another Kickstarter scam: a year and half past the deadline, additional costs requested to deliver the item, no communication and an outdated product.
They sell on Amazon: don’t be fooled by fake reviews and stay away from that company.
Totally ridiculous
Do a Kickstarter, collect tons of money, and then start the "We have delays..." "All will be shipped untill... but..." thingie. The absolute highlight: Switch to a "new shiping partner" that collects taxes and duties upfront.
The few that have received theit Akita are almost identical with their evaluation: Does not work as advertised and is more or less useless.
A complete farce
A complete farce, this company do not deserve your money nor mine and I only hope that in enough people leaving their reviews here, people will not support what can only be deemed a con. Nearly 2 years late in delivering a Kickstart project, to then be requested more money to receive your product (for shipping ) - the project has been described as bad at best with many people describing it as a paper weight - the technology is out dates and they have, to all extents and purposes lied and stolen from their investors.
Kickstarter to kick in the pants
I supported this company via Kickstarter. They have continuously lied about production schedules for over a year and a half. I have still not received the product, yet they are selling product on Amazon. I will be throwing away whatever they send me, if they ever send me anything, because I do not trust them. I certainly do not trust them or their product enough to hook it up to my personal network. If I could get a refund I would. Stay away!
Full transparency, I just received my Akita in the mail over the weekend. I will not be using it.
Akita is a scam. Steer clear!
It's hard to know where to begin with this den of liars and thieves.
I am a Kickstarter backer (no. 5002) of the Akita project. I've backed several projects through Kickstarter and, while production delays tend to be the norm, the experience had been generally positive. Until now.
Akita has consistently lied and prevaricated about the progress of the project and delivery of the goods, which is now 16 months late; reports from the handful of customers who have received the item indicate that it's a worthless piece of junk and nothing more than an expensive paperweight; multiple requests to cancel my pledge have been ignored (and I'm not alone in this); and the final straw which prompted this review was the demand that we hand over even more cash for shipping, which we paid with the original pledge.
This has proved to be nothing more than a scam and I would happily see the perpetrators imprisoned.
Home Security from a lying company?
I am one of the kickstarter backers.
Some headlines:
They have not delivered anything in nine months.
They told after nine months, that all non-US backers have to pay extra for shipping, even though we already paid extra for shipping.
Over all Akita is a company that hides information from their backers and customers.
They do not keep their promises.
They have a really bad way of handling issues with their customers.
