Simply the best!
Over the years I've been to Alba Tyres in Headingley and they are always brilliant. The staff are friendly and efficient. Today I was expecting to pay for a new tyre but was told the tack in my wheel hadn't penetrated. There was no charge and I was able to leave before the time of my booked appointment.
Excellent service
I used alba tyres for a new tyre and they sorted it out as soon as I came to the garage. I was very impressed with their efficiency.
Also a very special thank you to two extremely helpful members of staff who work at the horsforth branch. After work hours, they noticed I had broken down on the ring road and came to help me! They even drove me home in their car/one member of staff managed to follow and get my car home too. Very helpful and kind and genuinely just wanted to help. Would definitely recommend alba tyres, their staff are amazing!
Great service
Great service. New tyres and brakes sorted. They even repaired an emergency slow leak as a priority.
The Horsforth branch (ProTyre/Alba Tyres) are my go to tyre place.
Disgraceful poor job
Took my car to the Horsforth branch just under a year ago and had nothing but issues with my car since.
Took the car back 3 x after paying nearly £1,000 and having 4 new tyres along with suspension work resulting in the car still not being right and still a knocking noise! Apparently they couldn’t hear anything which anyone with ears could hear. In the end I didn’t bother taking it back to these incompetent people and another garage noticed straight away that the coils springs were broken. Wow. How can a garage miss this! Again I need 2 front tyres which leads me to think were the tyres even brand new!? You hope to put your trust into people to fix your car properly when you are paying a lot of money for it and keep having to send it back when what they have done isn’t quite right. If you don’t want to waste your money and have a car no better off, I would avoid this company and given other reviews, others seem to think so too.
Terrible
Experience was at Leeds Gelderd Road Alba tyres - team protyre
Booked this place via asda tyres due to outstanding reviews and quick availability for a full tyre replacement. After they had taken all tyres off of the car, I was told that they actually didn’t have the tyres in stock/ they hadn’t been delivered. The issue is with Asda tyres system allowing the booking to go through when they couldn’t fulfil the order, but why would Protyre allow me to attend the appointment without receiving the tyres and also take the tyres off the car without checking that they had the replacement tyres in stock?
The person who identified himself as the manager despite him not actually being the manager, first initial of name begins with M was extremely unprofessional and rude, telling me that they only receive approximately £11.48/£11.50 per tyre for fitting and that they are just the “Guinea pig” in the middle, effectively that this referral wasn’t worth his time or the money they receive. Not my problem or frankly any of my business how much you are paid from Asda tyres. This is private information between you both.
As a customer, I have paid the full amount (not cheap either) and simply want the service that I’ve paid for ie new tyres and them fitting safely and efficiently
After I reluctantly confirmed to cancel the order, I went outside for some fresh air (in the rain) waiting for my old tyres putting back on whilst on a FaceTime video call. M approached me again with the cancelled order confirmation paperwork. I was standing on the very outside edge of the workshop , just enough to shelter from the rain with my 2 year old and I was then told by him that I couldn’t record whilst on private property - I was on a live video call (not recording). He then told me that I shouldn’t be stood where I am as I have no right and that I’m wearing inappropriate shoes (summer flat sandals) . During mid conversation regarding why they took the tyres off without having the replacements in stock, he turned around to the office. In disbelief at this, I followed him into the office to ask for head office details which he said he “didn’t know” and that he “didn’t have their contact details” - you don’t know your employers details? Then to be told that the manager is currently on holiday.
I don’t expect to go to a place to have all tyres replaced and receive a barrage of unprofessional abuse/ attitude. Totally unbelievable and unprofessional. Even the person on the other end of the FaceTime call couldn’t believe your unprofessionalism
Took my car today to alba tyres in…
Took my car today to alba tyres in Horsforth as one tyre has slow puncture and another needs a new tyre. The slow puncture tyre is only 3 month old. The man who served me told me I need two brand new tyres and was saying to me do you no much about cars questioning me. I told him no but I knew the price he told me was a rip off (double what I usually pay elsewhere) so I said I'll go to halfords instead. He gave me my keys back after taking my car off the ramp and as soon as I got in my car I noticed £5 note was missing from the front bit were my charger goes. I straight away said to the man "where is my money" I literally put it there as I was going straight to pay for my daughters class. He started acting stupid looking around the floor saying the wind may have blown it. The manager came out and said "it's OK we will sort this problem" and suddenly brought me £5 note back.. I took it from them and when I got home noticed £2 coin gone too. I'd be very careful with these con men. Obviously take advantage because I'm a women and made it worse I had car seats in car so obviously have little children.
Appalling service - Glad they are not getting a penny of my money
Appalling service. Horsforth branch. I booked my car in with 3 days notice and specifically said that it was due to dashboard warning lights. The colleague on the phone told me that they had a diagnostic appointment this morning. I showed up at my appointment time and was told that my appointment was cancelled because "they had dropped the diagnostic machine" and couldn't get it fixed for over a week. The reason given for not phoning me in advance was that "I hadn't told them what the appointment was for". Based on what I have read in the other reviews likely a lie. My car was barely road worthy and I wasn't confident driving it anywhere. They had left me high and dry and I had an important meeting to get to so have had to find a space to park nearby so I didn't endanger other road users. I have also now had to pay extra days on my car hire as my insurance wont pay for a hire car until a mechanic has checked it and declared it off road.
Based on my experience and the other reviews I wouldn't trust them with my car as they are incompetent and untrustworthy.
Alba Tyres in Horsforth are liars.
Booked through Asda for Alba Tyres in Horsforth. Paid and got appointment time. Went to appointment to be told they couldn't fit me in. My fitting time was 4:30pm to 5:30pm, Alba Tyres said they closed at 5:00pm. I asked why they hadn't contacted me to advise me, they said Asda do not give them my details. I'd driven half way across the city, so wasn't happy. Tough, nothing they could do. I called Asda and a very friendly lady called Ruth advised me. Alba Tyres in Horsforth doesn't close at 5pm, it closes at 5:30pm. Alba Tyres lied to me about it. I told Asda that Alba Tyres said they didn't have my contact details. Asda advised they get my email and contact number in case of problems. Again Alba Tyres staff had lied to me about it. I cancelled with Asda and went elsewhere. Obviously cannot recommend Alba Tyres. I was let down by them and they tried to cover this by bare faced lying to me. I can't believe customer service can be as bad as this. I'm about a £6 out of pocket in fuel and lost an hour of my time. I doubt Alba Tyres could care less, they are happy to outright lie to their customers. Suffice to say, I won't be using the company again and there are loads of tyre fitters, so why take the risk with this crowd of liars?
Great service as always
Albatyres HORSFORTH highly recommended
Albatyres HORSFORTH were fantastic yesterday- very professional and competitively priced . They repaired my puncture without any fuss while I waited and also explained how the VW tyre breakdown kit works to check tyre pressure in the future. No more visiting those dreadful air pumps in petrol stations, which never seem to work properly! Thank you, Horsforth.
Awful company snail slow to do anything…
Awful company snail slow to do anything when they are asked to fix anything it's not right might aswell stick major repair stickers on and hope that a tyre fitter isn't killed
Alba Tyres
Alba Tyres - Horsforth.
We had a slow puncture. Took it into Horsforth branch and they sorted it - no problem and only £20. I was worried they would say we needed a new tyre.
Thanks Alba Tyres :)
Good prices but they scratch alloys
Misleading Adverts! Unhelpful Staff.
Terrible company. Adverts are misleading telling you one price for uysing Know Your Car app, you call and they then double the price so there is infact no discount at all, you accept it becuase you're on the phone anyway then there's no help at all the guy just was not bothered. Didn't use them in the end went to another local garage, job done perfectly and felt like they cared about the custom.
OVERCHARGING UNSUSPECTFUL CUSTOMERS
appalling ,Horsforth branch did an exhaust examination and found it needed a catalytic converter .price quoted was £625 ,my jaw dropped .I asked was this a manufacturers price and the answer came back "no ,it was their supplier" .Out of interest I put the car's details in various online suppliers and found the part ranged from £185 to £287 .this prompted me to ring 2 garages and get a quote. One came back £285 all in ,inc vat .Other £240/£260 inc vat.Alba ,you should be ashamed .OVERCHARGING .NEARLY GOT AWAY WITH IT .£440 CIRCA LABOUR
Alba tyres Headingley are the best
I have been using Pete at Alba tyres for some years now and after I got married my Husband uses him too we are very happy as he explains all the work needed and gives us options.
I am writing this review because a friend recently visited from Scotland and her car stopped working, Pete got the car straight in and had to order part but it was his day of on Saturday but he still came in just to make sure the car was finished for her to drive home Sunday morning.
He is a hero .
Albatyres Headingley
Appalling. Our car had a puncture on Xmas day, of all days. Fortunately borrowed brothers car. Today my partner took spare tyre with the wheel to Albatyres in Headingley. Big overweight guy came looked at the tyre and said there were wear problems and cracks (spare wheel les than 6,000 miles) - he clearly wanted to sell new tyre. Partner took tyre to a more reputable company who checked the tyre, said there was absolutely nothing wrong with it and fitted to the wheel in no time. Car now back on the road and tyre been checked again - all absolutely okay. Give this set of cowboys a miss. I would rather resort to public transport than give them any custom in the future.
Alba tyres in Ilkley
I have just had my car mot,ed at Alba tyres in ilkley. The tester did the usual inspection which took around 40 minutes. He then took it on a run to test the brakes as it's 4 wheel drive so can't go on a rolling road. I then got a failure sheet stating off side front brake pipe seriously corroded. So even with a seriously corroded brake pipe he still drove it. The actual brakes passed, Just the pipe that failed. On getting my car home I inspected the brake pipe to find it is not corroded at all. The paint on the brake pipe is starting to peel off as the car is now 12 years of age. I rang the garage & spoke to the tester. His explanation is it is not down to him to remove the paint to carry out a proper inspection so it's a fail. His argument is that I could drive it somewhere one day & the pipe could split. My confusion with this is No1 if the pipe is so corroded as to put life in danger why did he road test it. No 2 An mot inspection is to say a vehicle is fit for purpose on the day it is inspected. Not what or might not happen another day. If I had got stopped by the police on my way home with a car not deemed fit to be roadworthy I would have been in big trouble all because the tester cannot be bothered to remove a bit of blistered paint to carry out a proper inspection. I think this is done to create work for the garage. It is going back with the same brake pipe he failed still fitted but with the paint peeled off. If it fails again it will stay on my drive without mot until vosa come out to inspect it. It should have been an advisory if he could not be bothered to clean it & not a fail. Avoid this place at all cost or it will cost you.
