Most Expensive, Worst Product Experience Ever

I purchased a very expensive Alienware setup from Dell, including a notebook, two monitors, and a desktop, totaling over €7,000. Unfortunately, this has been a nightmare from the start.

First, one of the monitors arrived defective and had to be replaced. Then, the desktop I bought also had issues and needed to be replaced. The replacement desktop also had problems, requiring the motherboard, processor, and cooler to be replaced. Despite these replacements, the new parts were defective as well. The technician tried to reinstall the old parts, but now nothing works at all. He left saying he didn’t know how to help me and advised me to contact support.

Throughout this process, I have exchanged countless emails with Dell support, but the issues remain unresolved. The 12% discount voucher offered as compensation is a joke, as it requires me to spend more money.

This entire experience has been incredibly frustrating and disappointing. I expected much better quality and service from Dell, especially given the high cost of their products. I hope they can finally resolve this issue, but my patience is running out.

Defective from the start

Dell makes Alienware laptops. In January of 2023 I purchased this $2300 machine for my wife. A late Xmas present as she was careful and did her homework. I wish she hadn't chosen one that was so expensive, but her happiness was more important. Immediately she began to notice some issues with the fan kicking on. Not like she played high graphics games, just Horse Isle. Gradually it started to freeze up, shut off and wouldn't boot up anymore. Figured it was a software issue. Tried everything I could to recover the OS with no luck. Finally took it to the Geeks at Best Buy (that was a lousy Customer Service, too). They tried everything, including replacing the hard drove but nothing worked. $200 later they advised we contact Dell. After spending hours explaining our situation they offered me a lousy 15% discount off any potential repair. I admit we were 6 months past the warranty period. But with banking and other sensitive information on this machine I'm sure you empathize with not wanting a stranger having access. Bottom line: My wife has a $2300 paper weight. There was an issue with this machine from thr start. A miserable experience, so far. It might get worse. Who knows. DON'T PURCHASE FROM DELL. THEY ONY CARE ABOUT$$$.

quality feel to the touch and look but…

quality feel to the touch and look but software is bad (no software updates, things that are advertised are not working), quality is below average, mech keyboards just fall apart, buttons fly off during gameplay, headphones have worse quality than audiotechnica in gameplay (better recognition of small sounds, louder and better spatial awareness). Better to buy a 20e keyboard and mouse and headphones all in one than this joke.

Horrible.

After just a couple of years of use, the PC basically started self-destructing, and the apps on it are slowly stopping to work, one after one.

Buyers Remorse

I have had numerous problems with the laptop since my purchase (2.5K). After one problem gets fixed, another issue pops up. (Computer contantly crashing, mouse pad not responsive, keyboard lights not turning off...the list goes on.) Their tech support seems to have very little knowledge and their go-to solution is to reinstall the operating system. I was told twice a manager would contact me and still no call. Their managers are not held accountable for helping customers. And even worse, I purchased the premium support package. Dell should find another vendor for tech support.

I highly recommend buying a different brand.

I have been using this site for TEN YEARS, but a couple of weeks ago my account was banned for no reason. I only read the news and did daily ARP tasks.
Support completely ignores me. I really regret that a couple of years ago I bought a Dell laptop. I'll never buy a Dell/Alienware product again.

Do you want to burn money?

If you have money to blow and you want to spend double the money on a cheap piece of garbage, buying Alienware is for you! The PC case is plastic and the GPUs run as hot as a fire, which makes sense because you might as well burn your money if you buy Alienware. They give you the cheapest and slowest RAM they could possibly get their grubby hands on too.

They have a R15 advertised at $4,449.99. Can't be all bad, can it?

If you look at and compare the specs, you can custom build one yourself with better quality components for under $2,500.00. Their predatory behaviour on people trying to get into the PC gaming field is absolutely disgusting. It's at the point where CyberPower are whole tiers above these guys, and that's really saying something.

Horrible

Horrible. Bought an alienware r12. Did not even last 2 years. Spending so much money and having it not last is pathetic. It crashed during a bios upgrade from dell's site. Tech support did not care and was useless. I even spoke to a supervisor - no help. They say its the motherboard that died but they do not have the motherboard in stock. The dell alienware aurora r12 is now a paperweight.

Premium Price with Horrendous Customer Support

TLDR: Poorly designed, premium priced laptop with garbage customer service. Every problem was not noticed until beyond 30 day return policy so I am stuck with a bricked device and untimely support. If you rely on tech for work, BUYER BEWARE.

My $4K+ x17 laptop has the worst speakers I have ever heard in a laptop. The track pad was majorly delayed when keyboard was being pressed. This confused Dell for about a week before they could replicate issue and replace track pad. Replaced part had sticker partly pealed up making contact with fan causing obvious fan noise. I opened up the laptop and fixed myself. Then speakers blew requiring replacement. This doesn't effect work but I do love my music so this was disappointing. After that and a fresh windows install the screen either freezes or blue screens on windows login or HDR settings changes. Now I have to ship my laptop back to Dell again right before I travel. This has majorly effected my ability to work. Per policy they cannot offer temporary device. I would have to accept a refurbished in place of my own.... permanently. I am however glad these issues arrived within the return window of multiple AW 34" and 38" monitors, as well as keyboard and mouse for good measure xD. Alienware has lost a customer for life. Cheers

Delayed monitor replacement

Refernce code from support email (proof):

ref:_00D0bGaMp._5006PArSqT:ref

I bought an Alienware monitor priced at 600+ €.

Monitor was fine at the first months, until suddenly it went black and I was not able to turn it on.

Never had any issues with a Dell product so I went to claim my guarantee confident that I will get a premium support experience.

In under 24 hours they answered that they approve my demand and they offered me a newer version around this price and I accepted it.

I was happy until they informed me that I have to wait two months for the new monitor to arrive. Two whole months without pc cause I dont have any spare monitors.

I had no other option offered instead of waiting and since I do not want to loose my money I waited.
The deadline was near (keep in mind two months passed) and I receive an email from Dell saying that I have to choose between more options for replacements (??). One of the options was the one that I already chose and waited for.

I choose again the same one and they inform me that for some reason I need to wait one more month even if as they said they have stock.

What can I say, three months wasted in total for a replacement, three months without a PC.

Tech support assistants were fast and nice to speak with but Dell seems like they do not care about the customers as a company, even if you pay that much for a premium product.

I will update my review if I have any positive news.

Horrible experience with Alienware!!!

Horrible experience with Alienware!!!
It’s my second laptop of Alienware. First one was with 1070 card. I used it for 3 or 4 years and my keyboard had stopped working.
This laptop is my second laptop from Alienware. And what do you think? After 1,5 years of usage the keyboard totally out of order. Need to replace. Of course warranty service is finished…
How it’s possible that on both laptops same problematic? And this company positions itself as a premium product.
I would say more. This second laptop always throttling, bcs of overheating. After 30-40 min of gaming it starts lagging hard cuz GPU drop the frequency. I put maximum performance in the system settings and still the same issue.
And the cherry on the cake, on my latest laptop, the backlight on the right side of the screen disappears, so 20% of the screen without backlighting. You have to close the lid of the laptop and open it again to make the screen work properly. It’s mechanical problem, not software.

I pay twice as much as the competitors suggest for the same laptop and I get this quality.
It’s my last Dell product ever!!! Worst company in the world.
