sold my house through allen and harris, dont

sold my house through allen and harris. intial estimate was higher than anyone else's, it should have rung alarm bells. I went with them but after two months no offers so had to drastically reduce the price. Once the sale was agreed they only seemed interested in the buyer. Had a weeks notice to move out as they were bending over backwards for the buyer. All in all a very miserable experience that left me feelinh ripped off and used

Gutted I have to even leave a 1 star a a review.

I recently viewed a property, the salesman had very little knowledge about the property. However I did proceed to call and put an offer in as soon as we left, I was met by difficult and belligerent staff who refused to take my offer and insisted the only way to place an offer was with the branch manager.

Obviously at the point of which I called she was not available, my husband called an hour and a half after me and still no call back or availability, I finally heard back on Monday afternoon.

The call was rude and curt my offer was sniggered at, the response being well I suppose I’ll put it forward.

I then found out on social media I was not successful with my offer. I am yet to have any communication, having been looking for a while, and the market the way it is I can honestly say I will NOT view anything else with Allen & Harris, and will continue to share my utterly diabolical service with friends and family. This experience was with the Swindon branch

Booked a viewing for a property we were interested in buying which was promptly canceled without a call to explain why, but my wife and I have had multiple calls every day for two weeks pestering us to sell with them. Bordering on harassment if I'm honest. I've asked them to remove our contact details from their database, but the calls continue. Contact Rettie instead, they're good people. These guys appear to be so desperate for business, quite the red flag

Poor Communication Skills

Very very disappointed with Allen & Harris Westbury. Extremely poor communication skills whilst selling your property! You have to repeatedly ask for updates.
They allow long lapses with communication with yourself and the buyer of your property which results in endless unnecessary delays.
We honestly feel they concentrate on obtaining new business but once you’ve signed their contracts they do not have sufficient staff to even manpower their local offices.
Sadly I wouldn’t recommend this local office as it’s been completely frustrating to work with the team.
However, the sales person who originally came out to value our property was indeed courteous and professional and I’m afraid it ended right there.
We paid over £5,000 in fees where as our solicitors did most of the sales coordination work. Allen & Harris didn’t even give us a courtesy call to let us know that we had finally completed and we’re about to release the keys.

Thank you Maisy and Olly.

A big thank you to Maisy for her kindness, patience and professionalism throughout our buying experience this week. We are moving into Shepton Mallet from Jersey (although my husband was born here) and only had a week to view properties during half term as I am a teacher. On arrival we didn't think that we could be in a position to put in an offer as although we have sold a property at home it hasnt been fully processed....Maisy has made this totally possible for us and we are now really excited to start our new life here soon.
Olly was also great at the start of this weeks journey and yesterday when offers were being discussed.
From beginning to today when our offer was accepted we have been 100% happy with Allen And Harris.
Thank you all 😚

Highly recommended Witney Team

We recently sold a property with Allen & Harris Witney. From start to finish the agents were professional, knowledgeable, responsive and dedicated. They worked relentlessly to seek a qualified buyer, for a very fair price in a short time period, particularly amiss pandemic.

We must add that Mr Alexander Chappell, in particular was invaluable (and exceptional) throughout the entire sale process. And even post-sale! Alexander is very very reliable, efficient and organised, and his communication skills are top notch. Whether we needed a quick answer to a question, detailed email or a phone call to explain an intricate process - he was there to ensure our understanding and satisfaction. Moreover to all professional qualities, he defines a decent person . There is no other sales agent I would rather have had representing my family and I. A true asset to this particular firm. We just cannot say enough.

Thanks again
Hazel & family

Access denied: Wrong Keys

I booked a viewing of a property at Auchinleck, East Ayrshire at 2pm on Wednesday 9th February. Estate agent appeared five minutes late with the wrong keys; access to the property was not possible. The person blamed a colleague for giving her the wrong keys. Performance of Allen and Harris deemed unprofessional. One star rating not deserved.

Scumbags - tried to rip off a pensioner & widower

Allen & Harris FROME

(Rory Sloan) was asked to write a letter by a potential buyer of a property not even on Allen & Harris’s book (!).

Allen & Harris provided their ‘view’ on the saleability / value of a property to suit the buyers agenda, but they had never ever stepped foot in the property!

The prospect buyers intention was to use Allen & Harris’s feedback to reduce the sale price.

Rory Sloan mentions that he’s not visited the property in the letter before giving his opinion on the value - it’s comical!

The letter from Allen & Harris just served the private buyer and caused a lot of stress for the elderly widower selling the property.

Rory Sloan should have done his research or not got involved. Allen & Harris was not even the agent selling the property.

This was immoral & disgraceful business practise- both the buyer and Allen & Harris should be ashamed.

Professionally incompetent and negligent

AVOID Cardiff Roath Lettings. Quick to take your money but don't provide a professional service. My tenant resorted to calling in the council because of damp issues that weren't assessed correctly, mainly because the contractors weren't fit for purpose and failed to identify simple issues that had a simple fix. Instead my poor tenant had to suffer for over a year whilst my property deteriorated and AH muppets sat on their laurels doing FA. Needless to say I wasn't informed about the extent of the issues until my being served with a notice of improvements by the council and a hefty £11,600 bill for repairs, repairs that wouldn't have cost a tenth of that had the tenant been listened to and the repairs had been correctly assessed in a timely fashion. Plus, I lost 2 months rent. Allen and Harris, even though they admitted that Callum Reid hadn't exactly done a good job, wouldn't even refund the management fees dating back to when the tenant reported the issues. BUT, as a goodwill gesture they offered me £500! Whoopee

Absolute incompetence

The Cardiff roath office couldn't manage a 'proverbial' in a 'proverbial' house. Incompetent staff and incompetent profiteering contractors, unfit for purpose. Why would an agent instruct a landscape garden company to look at a damp issue??? Nepotism perhaps?

Very bad experience

Very bad experience from the real-estate side as a buyer (fair service as long as it concerns the mortgage advisor).
Agents seem to be very concerned only about fees and timing without providing any meaningful guidance or actual service. The purchasing process was totally transparent. The communications were highly problematic. The solicitor that they have recommended to us was totally passive. They left us with major unsolved issues.

Chippenham Office Allen and Harris

Chippenham Office. Never will I use this company again. They recommended a solicitors which were hopeless. Soon as you sign with them all communication ceased and I was forever chasing them. They were supposed to let me know of houses coming on the market. They never told me of one. It appeared that it was a case of we've got your money now do one. WAS ALSO TOLD I WOULD NOT HAVE TO PAY A PENNY BEFORE THE MOVE AND THAT WAS A LIE, ENDED UP PAYING NEARLY 4000 POUNDS UPFRONT. I will never use them again neither should you. YOUVE BEEN WARNED.

Westbury Office

When I first spoke to them I raised concerns about the price of a property I liked which was "offers in excess of £300k". I explained that this was my maximum budget (this would be for a property that hardly needed a thing done to it) & there was no extra for any potential works. I said that I didn't want to make a 5 hour round trip if I was wasting my time. I was assured that I should definitely look at it as I wasn't so went along feeling very positive. I then had a viewing & was shown around by Charlie.
I subsequently put an offer in which took into account works that needed doing.
Unfortunately, my experience with the office left a lot to be desired. They failed to return my calls or keep me informed of what was happening, then told me the offer wasn't enough even though they'd known my budget & that the house needed work.
It's a shame they couldn't have been honest when I'd had the initial conversation about my concerns instead of wasting my time & misleading me.
Charlie who did the viewing was very good but aside from him the other members of staff I dealt with were misleading & their client care was poor.

Desperately trying to rent a property

Desperately trying to rent a property, took our holding fee (1 weeks rent) then demanded paperwork unspecified at the initial viewing a week earlier , on trying to collect this for them was waiting for a letter to arrive from HMRC , informed them of this and then had them turn around and decline our rental of the property despite us paying a weeks rent in advance which should have covered the period where we were gathering the correct paperwork. Was told “the landlord cannot wait even a day otherwise he won’t be able to pay his mortgages” and that our deposit was non refundable. So they took our money, and left us out in the cold.

At every turn in the week leading up to renting the property there was more issues including online paperwork/referencing accounts not working, they lied and said they were trying to ring my fellow housemate (no missed calls recorded) and that due to this incompleted paperwork that we were the ones at fault despite not mentioning any of this at the viewing. We weren’t the first and we won’t be the last.

The rental situation is disgusting in this country, your paying for someone to put a custom number plate on their Range Rover while you slave away at an hourly rate job to live in damp and broken accommodation, they take multiple mortgages out and then depend on the yield from others to pay them whilst they do nothing more than the absolute bare minimum to “maintain” properties.

Since the agency fees are now gone I can only assume taking a percentage of our first weeks rent holding fee is how the agents get their commission.

Add to that the highest rents have ever been since 2008, and an over-saturation of student housing in major cities the situation for young working professionals is unbearable.

To then be told nearly thee hundred pounds of your hard earned money is gone in a flash with smoke and mirrors is simply shattering, unfortunately I’m not alone in this.

Scammers and illegal handling!

I would honestly give 0 stars if it was an option. Incredibly unprofessional estate agents.

Avoid at all costs, very rude staff, terrible lack of communication, sketchy, and greedy!

They Pressure you into using their services, and if you don’t they will deliberately mess you and tell you your offer is not good enough…even tho it is, it was very frustrating to deal with these people.

They are messing with peoples lives here, I feel like they’re all scammers and doing something incredibly illegal

Sarah was completely rude and messed us around. She is completely unprofessional.

This estate agents should be shut down. Please avoid at all costs, they only care about commission, they do not have anyone else’s best interests.

LIARS,MONEY HUNGRY DISHONEST

PORT TALBOT OFFICE - The worst experience I've ever had with an estate. I had a pleasant viewing with the owner who showed me around when the estate agent wasn't available. Loved the house a d spent 2 hours chatting with the owner who seemed more than keen to sell to me, even asked me to exchange numbers to keep each other updated as this agent allowed his last sale to fall through and never notified him.

Later the same day I txt the owner and offered full asking, telling him he could take as much time as needed to decide. He replied instantly and accepted. I emailed the agent and formally submitted my offer as well as my mortgage in principle proof of funds (far more than enough to Substantiate my offer)

I phoned the next working day a d the agent Sarah Rowlands was instantly offish and dismissive, huffing down the phone and acting completely put out that I had called. She was annoyed me and the owner had contact and told me nothing had been accepted and viewings would go ahead still.

I heard nothing til I was contacted by Rachel in there mortgage team. I told them I had already got a lender I was happy with but was pushed in to chatting with her anyway. After talking through the mortgage info I was then called yo say my offer was accepted and it would be taken off the market....that was until dat laterite Rachel had decided upon herself to go behind my back and speak to my lender and tell me they wouldn't lend to me...pure rubbish, i had personal contact with my lender and was told that agents tend to use intimidating and bullying tactics to force people to pay for their services.

As soon as I refused to pay for the agents in house mortgage service I was ghosted and then told my offer had been gazumped and owner stopped contact. I took it as a blessing in disguise as I would never deal with Sarah or Rachel or this crooked company.

A week after that I wascontactedby the owner again who assumee I was still buying...I had to be the one to tell him that his agents lied to him and me and that I was messed around and they declined my offer without his knowledge.

Avoid these unprofessional, dishonest, useless, crooked liars at all cost!!!

They are scammers

They are scammers. We paid a holding fee for a property to move on the 12th. They told us no on the 10th and kept our money £279. It is clearly a tactic they use since agency fees are gone.

You let people pay a holding fee then tell them no and keep their money.

Please don’t go for them. Scammers
