Honestly - Horrible Customer Service
Honestly, the worst bank I have ever dealt with... if you call four times, you will get four different answers. They have internal individuals that give your information to third-party phishing companies and will not work with you to show them proof. Management, if you can ever talk to them, will circle around and lie to you, it's truly shameful.
I wish I hadn't got this car loan here
HORRIBLE BANK! STAY AWAY! I wish I had used my credit union instead of the car lots bank - they set me up with a car loan through Ally (I went along with it because they were able to match/slightly undercut my credit union rates took it for simplicity).
After 1 year I decided to refinance with a credit union for a lower rate (rates have gone down) and have had the WORST experience trying to pay this car off with Ally. I received my loan check and mailed it to Ally bank as instructed, after signing it, Apparently it was processed at Ally like 1 day after my pay off quote was good for so I was "short" $12.01 due to daily accrued interest. Most GOOD banks would have just waived this, but no this place... no they MAILED THE CHECK BACK saying I was short $12.01!!!!! I was then told on the phone they'll freeze the payment amount I just had to mail the check back and pay $12.01. I immediately paid $12.01 online, paid 75 cents for ANOTHER stamp and mailed the check back. Upon processing the check this time they accepted it, but now my account shows I owe another $68.43!!!!! I called them again and they REFUSED to waive the interest. I was charged this interest because THEY returned the check... they deliberately dragged this out as long as possible to extract more daily interest out of me!!!!!! I even elevated it to the supervisor and they held firm that because the check said "payment in full" and it was $12.01 short that they were justified in mailing it back and that the account accrues interest daily. Lessen learned if you do use this bank PAY EXTRA to ensure its paid when that check gets mailed. Never using them again for ANYTHING.
Somebody stole my money
Somebody got a hold of my account number and cached a check for $3800 that didn't have many name or signature, just my account number. Ally didn't verify my identity and gave my money away. Now they are running me through loops with affidavits that need to be notarized and told me it can take up to 120 days to get my money back. I am leaving Ally
Money keeps being taken from our…
Money keeps being taken from our accounts. Wont show up on our statements. Paid 1700 in feb 2026. Its march now im behind 2 payment again they are saying. How I owed 600 for that car payment and 300 in late fees. Nothing changed almost like the money disappeared. Now they are saying it went toward the interest...why didn't they pay the payment and late fee. That I shouldn't have anyway. We keep throwing money at these fees. That wont go away and keep putting us behind.
Ally is the worst auto loan company
Ally employs unethical business practices and engages in deceptive behavior when communicating the amount owed over the phone. Ally has outsourced its customer service to overseas locations. They have repeatedly requested that I seek financial assistance from a family member or loved one when I am late on a payment. This request is incredibly disrespectful and inappropriate. Ally does not care whatsoever for well-being of its customers.
I have over paid on my car loan on…
I have over paid on my car loan on purpose to shorten the length of time. They applied payments to the next month instead of the principle. I'm currently trying to pay it off and 1 department can't communicate with another to get the actual amount. No one knows who to talk to. I'm glad I got the loan but the servicing is clueless on procedures. I'm just hoping to ge a lien release.
Can you say HORRIBLE
Omg these people are the worst when it comes to customer service. It t00k 20 minutes for them to still not fully answer one question. They lie and say "please give me a minute to research your question" which is bs because they return minutes later only to not have an answer and ask how is your day....fareal??? My Shade detector picks up a little shady business dealing when I talk to these people. Everything else outside an auto loan offer is also a waste and scam. Note they have stopped introducing themselves by name as well I see. Smdh and cussin at the same time🙄
Complete Refusal to Take Responsibility
On February 27, 2026 at 1:21am CST, I used PayPal to make an income tax payment of $3,350, plus a service charge. My primary PayPal means of payment was a Visa card. Unfortunately, I had also previously linked my Ally checking account to my PayPal account.
I chose to pay via PayPal using that Visa card because the card offered 3% cash back, which would have more than covered the service charge. I also would not have been required to pay that credit card bill until April 15th.
Understand that I could have paid my tax bill without incurring "any" service charge, using a checking or savings account - but again, I wanted the extra time to pay the bill, as well as the cash back that the credit card offered. However, the credit card rejected my payment via PayPal, due to suspected fraud.
Nonetheless, that wouldn't have been a problem, except for the ways in which PayPal, and especially Ally Bank, responded. First, instead of using another credit card linked to my account or providing me with a "choice" re. the secondary means of payment, PayPal immediately indicated that they were drafting the full charges from my Ally checking account - which I had "never" used to make PayPal payments. I had only linked the checking account to "receive " payments via PayPal.
However, my Ally checking account never received the PayPal charge until the following week, on March 3. Several days before that - at 11:45am CST on February 27 - I contacted Ally and explained PayPal's intention to draft my checking account for more than $3400. At the conclusion of that 31-minute conversation, the Ally representative read me a statement, confirming that the bank was discontinuing the overdraft protection from my savings account, to ensure that Ally would not honor any charges from PayPal.
Nonetheless, to my dismay, Ally drafted the funds from my "savings" account on March 3 to pay the full PayPal charges to my checking account, contrary to Ally's own promises, and without my permission.
Even worse, after that serious error, Ally refused to take any steps whatsoever to correct the matter - despite acknowledging their employee's mistake, as documented in their bank records - leaving me without the use of more than $3400 cash, for the next 7 weeks.
Finally, after I spoke with a second Ally supervisor, he promised that an executive member would contact me about the matter, but that never happened.
Bottom line: Who would ever trust a bank with supervisors and executives who, when they "know" that their employee has seriously failed to do what he has promised, then makes their customer pay for the bank's mistake, and doesn't even follow up with such a customer, after a supervisor promises they will - despite that customer's loyalty to the bank for almost 25 years? Not I.
Closed my accounts without ANY notice
Closed my accounts without ANY notice. When I called to find out why, I was told because they can. They claimed they sent a notice to my online account which mysteriously cannot be found. Mind you, they sent me notices via email & mail ALL the time but the one notice they should have sent via email And mail, they conveniently send via online account and it is NOWHERE to be found. Buyer beware - Avoid Ally Bank like the plague!!
All they do is harass you call and send…
All they do is harass you call and send letters every month I don’t need a reminder stop sending letters and stop harassing people I been paying the car for the past 4 years leave me alone weirdos
Account Closed, Money Sent Into Limbo, Zero Support
I had a seriously frustrating experience with Ally Bank involving an account closure and my remaining balance. After the account was closed, I was told my money would be sent out, but I was given no timeline, no tracking information, and no way to verify where it is or when I’ll actually receive it.
That alone is already a problem. But what made it worse was what happened next.
I called to ask for any alternative, whether they could reissue the payment, speed it up, or send it another way. I wasn’t asking for anything unreasonable, just a way to access my own money or at least get clarity. Instead, I was told “no, we can’t do that.” No explanation, no options, nothing. Just a dead end.
At this point, my money is somewhere in transit, and I have zero visibility or control over it. That should never happen with a bank. When you’re dealing with people’s finances, there has to be transparency and some level of support when things aren’t clear. I got neither.
What concerns me most is how easily they shut everything down instead of trying to help. If something goes wrong in this process, you’re essentially stuck waiting with no answers.
Based on this experience, I would strongly caution anyone to think twice before using Ally Bank, especially if there’s any chance you’ll need real support when it matters.
Do not bank here
Do not bank here! They literally let someone steal money out of my account and did nothing to help. Took them 2 years to investigate just to tell me thy cannot do anything about it. Your money is not safe here and they don’t care about their customers.
Staff is not helpful and not able to resolve issues
We just recently purchased a 2024 Ford F250 Superduty and it is financed with Ally. My Fiance and myself are on the loan. Both of our phone numbers are listed as well. I kept getting calls from New Orleans number and they never left a message so I was hesitant to answer the phone. After 3 days of phone calls, I call this number back to discover it is Ally Bank. I asked the girl why they kept calling me and she kept telling me she was calling in regards to my Fiance. She would not give me any answers so I hung up, finished my lunch, and called back on Speaker phone with my Fiance present. Icy basically had the same attitude. She would blow off what I had to say no matter how many times she was told by us that we are both on the loan for this truck. She completely ignored my request asking that if they are going to call my number to please leave a message as to why they are calling or to call my Fiance directly at his number if they do not wish to share information with me. I felt my request was being ignored so I asked to speak to a supervisor. She asked me my reason and I told her then she puts me on hold as though she is getting a supervisor. She gets back on the line to tell me that I needed to call Customer Care to speak to a Supervisor. I hung up. I am not impressed by the staff and how they treat their customers. I am almost tempted to have our truck refinanced with another bank. I hope I never have to do business with this bank again.
Ally has the worst auto loan rates nI…
Ally has the worst auto loan rates nI have ever had. I had a mishap with a out of state dealer and had to go with Ally. I have a high credit score and they gave me 8% loan rate. Absolute garbage! Avoid getting a auto loan at all cost from them.
The bank failed multiple times to verify me despite giving all information needed
The bank failed multiple times to authenticate my identity—even after I provided all the correct information (SSN, address, phone number, etc.). Every time I called, I had to start over from scratch, and to make things worse, they hung up on me several times during the process.
My account was essentially held hostage while they “couldn’t verify” me, leaving me without access to my own money. It took several days to finally resolve something that should have taken minutes.
Customer service was extremely frustrating, unhelpful, and inconsistent. No one could give a clear answer or fix the issue efficiently.
I would not trust this bank with my money. If you value access to your own funds and competent support, look elsewhere.
Declined to open savings account for weird reason
I had a trading account with Ally Invest for 5+ years for occasional stock trades, mostly long-term. Recently I tried to open a savings account with their 3.2% rate, but the application was rejected with “we couldn’t verify your identity.”
I called support and provided all the basic details, but they kept repeating the same questions without explaining much. I have a 760+ credit score and US citizenship, but when they asked for my employer name and income, I politely declined. That might have been the reason.
Not a big deal — I’ll just open a savings account somewhere else, but it was a waste of time.
I dispute my charges with customer…
I dispute my charges with customer service people they didn't investigate landshark car wash this people close their business and still charging customer they have my credit card on their file I request Ally credit card to dispute those charges they refuse to remove my charges another credit card company remove charges right away till dispute pending but Ally credit card refuse to do that just like well fargo abuse they customer this Ally credit card just like that avoid Ally BANK and Ally credit card.
DO NOT USE THIS BANK!!
DO NOT USE THIS BANK!!! I just opened up my checking account 2 weeks ago .. every representative had no clue how to fix my Zelle issue. One person gets Zelle three others do not and even a manager who was extremely rude does not why nor opens a ticket number to get this figured out. They blame the recipients bank two of them which was Chase and both Chase managers had no clue what ally was talking about saying something is wrong on chases end. This is a waste of time and no wonder why they get horrible reviews! They wouldn’t even give me corporate number and told me to google it!!!!!!!!!
Unfair fees $600
I called within seven days of the CD's maturity to ask them to close the account. They found an excuse (my external account was not linked) and refused to process my request to close the account. Later, when my external account was finally linked, they charged me 60 days of interest ($600) because it was 11 days after maturity. Ally Bank does everything to charge people unfair fees.
Worst customer service i have ever…
Worst customer service i have ever experienced. I have been using this bank for a number of years without issue, but recently, it seems there isn't a single english speaking person in the entire company. Any issue you have, fraud, or account questions, and have to speak to them on the phone, its always someone who speaks insanely broken English, and is incredibly rude. IF they resolve this fraud issue, i will be changing banks asap.
