Highly disappointed and potential violation of consumer rights !

I recently bought a MacBook from AMAC at Heuvelstraat 90, 5038 AH Tilburg, just a couple of days before running into an issue. After performing a reset on my Mac, I was unable to activate it. I brought the device back to AMAC expecting them to resolve the issue under warranty, given that the MacBook was practically brand new. However, I was told that I would need to pay €60 just for diagnostics and resetting the device.

I contacted Apple Support for further clarification, and here’s where things got interesting. Apple confirmed that the activation issue was caused by temporary server problems on their end, and the only thing needed was a firmware reset. They also explained that this service should be free of charge and were even willing to cover the cost that AMAC wanted to charge me. However, the Apple representative mentioned something concerning—he couldn’t find any record in his system showing that this AMAC store was authorized to perform such repairs, or even able to do this kind of reset officially.

This situation raises a lot of questions. According to Article 7:17 of the Dutch Civil Code (Burgerlijk Wetboek), consumers have the right to expect that products meet reasonable standards of quality and functionality. If a product is faulty—especially one that was purchased just days ago—the seller is obligated to repair or replace it at no additional cost. AMAC’s attempt to charge for diagnostics and repair in this case seems to be a clear violation of this law.

my pre order took 2 months and still going

I did a pre order for Iphone 15 pro max on the first day it was possible (15 September) and I was supposed to have it early, hence the pre order. The first red flag is that the pre orders never closed (other shops went out of stock at some point, amac never did). I was told that there will be an update every 2 weeks (didn't happen), no responsive customer support and many many more. Today, the 30th of October and I got informed it is going to take another 5 weeks. Unacceptable, do not have unlimited pre orders and give false ideas to people that they will get it early. simple as that.
Edit: I obviously canceled the order the moment I got informed it’ll take another 5 weeks, and ordered from another shop which delivered the next morning

I'm sorry that you had a less pleasant experience placing your pre-order.
We indeed first made pre-orders possible until the date we started delivery.
After this, we continued to allow orders to be placed, as we do every year.
Orders are delivered in order of order, but there are simply models that have been ordered much more often than others. This increases the delivery time.
It is indeed true that we had a delay with an update email, but we still sent it and informed you about the status of your order afterwards.

I'm sorry it's taking a long time for you, but we can't speed this up as we depend on the stock we receive.

Arrogant office manager

I requested my battery to be replaced. During the service order the specialist said that it is simple repair my phone will be back within 2 weeks. Sadly, instead of my phone I got a bill on my email address of € 502,02 to buy a new phone.
When I delivered my phone it was judged as "The iPhone has just normal user damage like scratches." But in the service they judged it as "Wij hebben geconstateerd dat de batterij snel leeg loopt. Ook hebben wij geconstateerd dat het audio systeem van de iPhone niet goed werkt en er is een beschadiging op het beeldscherm en de camera lens aangetroffen. Om deze problemen te verhelpen dient de iPhone vervangen te worden. Gezien de iPhone buiten de garantie valt hebben wij hiervoor een prijsopgave opgesteld. Zodra je akkoord hebt gegeven op deze prijsopgave zullen wij de vervangende iPhone bestellen. Deze vervangende iPhone wordt geleverd met 90 dagen
garantie." It gives the idea that the phone is completely destroyed and nothing including the battery, screen, camera and audio system works properly.

When I tired to talk to workers in Amac Tilburg I came across "specialist" office manager Sebastiaan who did not want to give any help, nor to answer questions why is it like this and what happened. He was very rude and unprofessional. When I asked where can I deliver a complain about his behavior and service, he said that I will have to send it to him and he started laughing.

In the end I spent 40 euros to not have my phone for 3 weeks and to not have my request about changing the battery fulfilled. My phone works well no problem with mentioned elements on the list except that the battery is as bad as it was before repair :)

Try to avoid this place, it is one big scam and better go to CoolBlue. You pay same money and within 2 hours you have your phone back with new battery.

PS. I would like to still highlight the very nice workers as Gaby and Sander. They came out as very helpful and tried to look for solution, they apologized for the whole situation and still tried to do their best.

If I understand your story correctly, you had submitted your iPhone for repair because of your battery.
In our repair procedure we have to repair all faults or defects. This has to do with the guidelines that Apple requires us to follow.

We are also sorry that your conversation with the manager was not pleasant. This was not our intention.
