Artspace - A Work Family

Artspace is more than just a workplace; it’s a space where ambition, growth, and resilience flourish. We pay attention to the details, build meaningful connections with our colleagues and clients, and always go the extra mile — all with a generous sprinkle of kindness.

When I joined Artspace,14 years ago, we were a small team of just 5. I feel truly privileged to have grown alongside the company, progressing from an administrative role to my current position as Head of People & Operations, now supporting a team of over 25.

From day one, Kate Letteriello, our Creative Director and Founder, has always shown belief in me, especially in supporting my flexible working needs as a parent to two young children.

At Artspace, flexibility is extended to everyone. We understand the importance of health, wellbeing, and balancing personal commitments. Clear communication lies at the heart of how we work — helping us build strong, respectful relationships within our team.

I’m grateful every day to work alongside such talented, creative, hardworking, and passionate colleagues. We truly feel like a family, a culture we value deeply and one where we always have each other’s backs.

Our management team is solid and supportive — some have been with the business for over 15 years. We learn from and lean on one another, always striving to be better.

Kate leads with humility and generosity. She values every single team member and constantly inspires us to reach our full potential. The culture Kate has created is one rooted in integrity, kindness, teamwork, and innovation — always thinking ahead and staying a few steps forward.

Together, we’ll continue to create beautiful showhomes for our clients, both new and current. The creative journey is ever-evolving, and the future is full of exciting possibilities.

I love my job and being part of an amazing team of people, being lead by the best!

A Company That Values People and Talent…

Working at Artspace has been an incredibly positive experience. The team is genuinely friendly, and there's a great vibe throughout the entire organisation, it's the kind of environment where people support and care for one another.

The people who work here are incredibly talented. It's inspiring to work alongside people who bring such skill, creativity and dedication to everything they do.

One of the things that truly sets Artspace apart is the leadership. The MD is exceptionally kind and caring. She takes the time to listen, is always approachable, and genuinely values the well-being of her team. Her leadership creates a space where everyone feels heard and respected.

Overall it's such a great Company to work for, positive culture, supportive leadership and a team that feels more like a community. I'm grateful to be a part of it.

Artspace are the real deal!

I would like to take this opportunity to express how much of a pleasure it was to work at Artspace Interior Design Ltd. The team is not only deeply passionate about the design industry they represent but also incredibly talented, approachable, and supportive. They consistently go above and beyond for both their loyal, long-standing clients and their growing customer base. This dedication is reflected in the high percentage of repeat business, with many clients returning time and again.

I made the difficult decision to leave the company due to personal family reasons. Throughout this period, Kate Letteriello and the entire team were exceptionally understanding and supportive—something for which I will always be grateful. In a testament to their integrity and kindness, they generously left the door open for me to return should my circumstances change.

This reflection comes not only from the perspective of a former employee but also as a customer. I have purchased items from Shospace and benefited from the design team’s expert advice for my own home.

Artspace is a team of compassionate, hardworking, and highly skilled individuals, and I am proud to have them featured so prominently on my professional CV.

The best of the best!

Artspace has offered me opportunities in my career that wouldn’t have been possible without the time and trust the MD invests in me. I have been taught that the importance of high standards and having a passion for creativity leads to clients returning time and time again.
Creativity and hard work are regularly recognised and celebrated! Our personal life achievements are also celebrated which means so much that we are cared for more than just in the work environment.
Health and wellbeing are always prioritised with regular check-ins and time carved out for wellbeing activities. Management have undertaken specific mental health training as well, especially following Covid and the difficult time it was for everyone.
The creative opportunities offer growth to the team to push boundaries to create memorable designs that stand out above our competitors! We as a wider team are encouraged to give fair feedback so that the whole team can be proud of what is delivered.
I’d really recommend it as a workplace, especially to those that want a great local business environment but with the opportunities of national design.

Toxic work environment

Working at Artspace offered some positives, particularly the opportunity to work on creative design projects. However, several significant challenges made the experience difficult.

One of the biggest issues was the pay, which was far below industry standards, leaving employees feeling undervalued. Promises of a formal pay scale were never fulfilled, and salary adjustments were left entirely at the discretion of the Managing Director (MD), Kate Letteriello. Employees often had to repeatedly request performance reviews or pay increases, which were ignored or indefinitely delayed. As a result, many talented designers left for competitors offering fairer compensation, leaving the team heavily junior and inexperienced.

The lack of investment in staff is reflected in the high turnover rate. Despite being a company of fewer than 30 people, over 60 employees have left in the last five years alone. This constant churn of staff not only created instability but also eroded team morale and made it increasingly difficult for the company to maintain its standards. The loss of experienced employees has also led to a reliance on repurposing designs created by former staff. This “copy-and-paste” approach has stifled creativity and innovation, with the company’s social media regularly showcasing recycled work rather than fresh, original designs.

The work culture also had significant flaws. Personal commitments, such as family matters or medical appointments, were often disregarded, with employees pressured to prioritise work at all costs. Concerns raised with management were met with dismissive attitudes, and Kate Letteriello often referred to employees facing mental health struggles as “snowflakes” or “bad apples,” creating a toxic and unprofessional environment.

The absence of an HR department meant there was no proper channel to address issues, leaving many colleagues to struggle with anxiety or burnout. A pervasive blame culture added to the stress, making the workplace feel hostile rather than supportive.

The team structure was imbalanced, relying on part-time senior staff and inexperienced full-time juniors, which placed undue pressure on the entire team, especially with demanding, high-budget clients. Workloads were overwhelming, with last-minute design changes and limited constructive feedback often requiring late nights and causing frequent burnout.

Additionally, the company did not offer flexible working options, such as remote work, which is now standard in the industry. Site visits and travel responsibilities were unevenly distributed, further burdening certain employees.

Management also lacked impartiality, with key roles filled by friends of Kate Letteriello. This resulted in unfair decision-making and exacerbated the company’s organisational challenges.

While Artspace offers opportunities to work on interesting projects, the poor pay, mismanagement, toxic work environment, and lack of innovation make it difficult for employees to thrive. The high turnover rate is a clear indication of these issues, which have driven away much of the company’s talent and left it struggling to retain and support its remaining team.

We believe in being open and transparent, so we’d like to clarify that this review appears to be from a former employee, not a client or customer.

Trustpilot is a platform designed for genuine customer feedback, and while everyone is entitled to their opinion, this post clearly refers to internal company matters and not a service experience. As such, it falls outside the scope of Trustpilot’s intended use. The claims made are both inaccurate and misleading, and they do not reflect the values, culture, or day-to-day reality at Artspace Interior Design.

Kindness is a core value at Artspace. We work hard to foster a collaborative, supportive culture where creativity can flourish. Sadly, not every employee fits our culture, and when someone leaves feeling unhappy, it can lead to bitter sentiments. We do not promote individuals who are not performing to the standards expected, and unfortunately, this can leave some people feeling disgruntled. It’s disheartening to see a former team member try to damage the reputation of a company that consistently strives to lead with empathy and excellence.

We are proud of the high standards we uphold, the work we produce, and the many long-standing, passionate employees who thrive in our environment. We believe this review says more about the reviewer’s personal challenges than it does about our company, and we sincerely hope they find the support they need going forward.

For anyone genuinely interested in our business — whether a potential client, supplier, or future team member — we are always happy to share accurate, honest insights into how we operate.

— Kate Letteriello, Founder and Creative Director
