I recently joined this organisation for…

I recently joined this organisation for two reasons, advice, and support, but also to tell my story, and journey living with Asthma. I also hoped that by sharing the success I have had might help and inspire. How wrong I was! Within minutes of posting my piece I was sent a reply accusing me of being insensitive?! I was also accused of using the term mindset, which I did not. What I was saying was that a positive mental attitude when faced with illness such as Asthma can be extremely beneficial. I was gobsmacked! Avoid this site if you want unwoke support, and definitely avoid the blog!

A charity that's not fit for purpose

A charity that's not fit for purpose. Failed and continues to fail Asthmatics during this ongoing pandemic. Moderate Asthmatics like myself have begged them for support to get a priority vaccine, as science shows all Asthmatics are at greater risk of serious disease, hospitalisation and Long Covid. It's like they have put their fingers in their ears and are waiting for us to go away. Not a great way to treat vulnerable people who have donated to their cause for years. I for one am disgusted by how they can risk people's lives like this. Shame on you Asthma UK.

Absolute shambles of a charity

Absolute shambles of a charity. They're supposed to support people with asthma and campaign for them but in respect of the Covid vaccine rollout they have let every single person with asthma down. We've asked for help, we've asked for support, we've asked them to campaign for us to be reinstated to priority group 6 but all they've done is run a pathetic petition for a non-existent group 9a which has been ignored by government. They haven't had any media presence to back us up and they haven't fought for us at all. They don't reply to our comments and questions and if anyone asks too many questions, no matter how polite, they block them. Certainly not fit for purpose.

Woeful support from Asthma UK

Asthma UK have not adequately supported asthmatics through the covid pandemic as they have failed to ensure that all flu jab asthmatics are included within group 6 or have a meaningful campaign to reinstate the vast majority of asthmatics that have been removed. They resort to blocking asthmatics on Twitter who are campaigning to have asthmatics who qualify for an NHS flu jab reinstated to group 6 and have publicly stated that they agree with the exclusion of asthmatics from group 6 based on the flawed evidence published by the government and started a petition to have asthmatics included in group 10 within the second wave of vaccines when the JCVI have stated on numerous occasions that after group 9 vaccinations will continue with decreasing age groups. This is simply unacceptable from a charity claiming to advocate for asthmatics. Millions of asthmatics will be forced to return to unsafe work places and employers will argue, as the government has stated, that all vulnerable people have been vaccinated so if you’ve not been vaccinated you obviously aren’t vulnerable. Thanks for nothing Asthma UK

Inaction for reinstatement of asthmatics to vaccine group 6

Asthma UK has been a good advocate in the past but since February has not made any effort to get asthmatics reinstated into JCVI Group 6 for covid vaccine priority. They remain silent to requests for the reasons why they do not object to the removal the majority of those with asthma, a chronic respiratory condition, from the clinically vulnerable group 6.
