I was about to cancel Audible!

I was about to cancel Audible to cut down on my outlay. I had one credit left but purchased the wrong book by mistake. I was able to return it, get my credit back & chose the book I'd wanted. That is excellent service! For that reason alone, I am now keeping Audible.
A great range of books & the app is really easy to navigate. Being able to set a timer is brilliant. Problems can be addressed quickly. I feel now it's well worth the cost & I would miss it so much at bedime when I use it to relax.

Not worth the trouble

I cancelled after my free trial. I had downloaded a free audiobook which I was really enjoying but half an hour into it I got a message saying it was no longer available as a part of my membership which didn’t make sense. It would not let me continue this book which I’d already downloaded for free unless I’d pay more money. And my free trial hadn’t even ended! Why would they disallow me to continue with my audiobook in the middle of listening to it? After reading other people’s reviews I decided it wasn’t worth the trouble. I’d also hoped more audiobooks would be free and it’s very difficult to ask questions and make a complaint. Wouldn’t recommend.

Scammers

So, my audible account was set up on an old email and phone number associated with a job I am no longer in. The bottom line is, I can't cancel it.

I am stuck with an account I can't access, can't use, and keep paying for and am so sick of paying for it, it is money stolen in my book - I am so angry about it and they have been no help!

Audible benefits from fraudulent card purchase

Audible refused to pause a transaction and investigate despite being aware that a card not belonging to the account holder was used, so a fraudulent purchase. By refusing to pause and investigate, Audible benefits by receiving the payment so they are benefiting from fraudulent activity. The customer service handler (if customer service is an accurate descriptio) also refused to allow a complaint to be made.

Terrible treatment of long standing customers. Consider another service

The audible app and titles are fine, but I am very unhappy with how the company treats their customers. I have been a relatively happy Audible customer for a number of years, but I resent how they automatically renewed my account as an annual subscription yesterday. The renewal amount was also considerably higher than the year before. Also, the last payment I made was for ten credits, not an annual subscription. There was no prior warning to their debit of £69.99 from my account. No email or alert, no discussion. Audible simply took the money from my account. When I voiced my dissatisfaction (and it was very difficult to find a means to interact with customer service), I was told that in order to refund the charge, they would need to close my account and I would lose all my pre-existing credits. Given Audible's behaviour, I was ok with my account being closed, but removing credits that I had paid for is stealing.

They scam you

They scam you. I had a running membership for months without knowing it. When i cancelled it i thought i was done. Found out months later that the customer service that had helped had only paused it, and it started charging me again 6 months later without me knowing. When i talked to them again now they were not helpful at all, and did not refund anything. Worst membership experience of my life. Dont leave them your card information.

Punished for Reading too Much

Auidible has good range of books, which I will listen too, finish and return. However, I have received emails stating I am acting against it's returns policy which may lead to them to cancel my subscription . When you return a book, there isn't an option to say you enjoyed the book, only negative options are given (e.g didn't like narrator, didn't enjoy the story etc)
I always listen to a sample before getting a book, its so patronizing. Can't one enjoy a book, return a book and take another book out without being threatened. It wouldn't take them much to check this from my listening history if they could be bothered... books are listened to, start to finish. Why are they punishing people for reading too much ?!!!

SubSubject: Extremely Frustrated with Audible Account Migration – Lost Books and Functionality

Subject: Extremely Frustrated with Audible Account Migration – Lost Books and Functionality
Dear Audible Support,
I have been a loyal Audible customer since 2007. Over the years, I have spent over £4,000 plus and built a library of more than 600 audiobooks. Until recently, I accessed my account using a username sign-in.
However, I was recently forced to transition using an Amazon account. This process was incredibly frustrating and time-consuming – I spent over two hours on the phone, speaking with multiple representatives just to complete what should have been a straightforward migration.
Now that the switch has been made, I’m extremely disappointed to find that my account data has not transferred correctly:
• The Audible app on my phone now shows only 585 books, not the 600+ I had previously.
• It incorrectly states I’ve read only 25 books, with 558 listed as "not started" – which is blatantly inaccurate.
• I am now unable to track at a glance which books I’ve read or not. At minimum, 27 books appear to be missing.
• On the Audible website, I can no longer easily view my full purchase history without scrolling through 585 books. This makes it impossible to tell if I’ve already purchased or listened to a book when browsing for new titles.
I have already spoken with Audible support twice, and both times I was told to “wait five days” while the issue is being investigated. That is not an acceptable resolution. I listen to audiobooks daily, and now I can’t identify which titles I own, which I’ve read, or which I’m missing.
This forced migration from a username-based sign-in to an Amazon login has been a complete disaster. After nearly a decade as a committed customer, I’m incredibly upset with the poor handling of this transition and the apparent loss of part of my digital library.
I expect a prompt and thorough resolution to this issue – including the restoration of my full book library and the ability to track what I’ve listened to accurately. Anything less would be an unacceptable outcome given my long history and significant financial investment with

Without doubt one of the worse companies out there!

Without doubt one of the worse experience/companies I've dealt with. They seem only to care about tricking you into paying them more money and stealing any credits you have ALEADY PAID FOR!
I paid for 24 credits costing over £100 for two years in a row but didn't use all of them, I canceled and still had about 19 credits remaining as I didn't want it to renew again until I'd used the credits I'd already paid for. They took the 19 credits (over £80 worth!) away saying I can't use them once I've canceled even though I'd already paid for them!
It's just designed to be one trap after another!
Good luck contacting customer support it's just an automated FAQ... If you manage to get them to phone you back you'll get an indian person with the worst quality phone line I've ever heard. They know NOTHING about how Audible works. Didn't even know Audible had a Wishlist! Told me I was wrong and that it must be the shopping cart! USELESS...

Don't do it... Find the books else where... buy the author a coffee... They will likely get more of the money that way!

AUDIBLE IS BY FAR THE BEST AUDIOBOOK CO.

I have used Audible for years. I have over a thousand books . Most I’ve bought on sale or though my kindle unlimited account. I’ve NEVER had any problems what so ever. I’ve returned books without a problem. I’m signed up to several audiobook accounts. None are as organized as Audible. They have a huge selection, if you listen to series of books ,they make it easy to find the next book in the series. They have it set up ,to help you find new books and authors that are similar to the books you listen to. Audible also makes it easy to organize the books ,you do have in your library.
I’m an audiobook addict. I’m an artist and paint for a living. When I’m not painting, I’m cleaning the house or walking the dogs, but I always have a book on all the time.
All these people that are complaining. Obviously haven’t used audible for very long because everybody’s very helpful. And if you have a problem, they will take care of it Fast.

Bad company.

I bought a subscription deal for 3 months. I purchased one audiobook of a good horror author. I listened to it and everything seemed fine, it said that my next credit will be on the 30th of may this year so I assumed my purchase went well.

Today I came back to complete listening to my audio book but then I realized it was gone. And it says on my account non subscription. My listen history of the book is gone, my purchase using the free coin was gone.

It’s a good thing I didn’t pay a lot but I find this very disappointing.

SHOULD CHANGE THE NAME TO GREEDIBLE!

Audible have just informed me that the price of my subscription is increasing by over 12%, at a time when UK growth is less than 1%. This is avarice at its most blatant and I will be cancelling my subscription.

Should books I've purchased 'disappear' as others have claimed in feedback, I will see them in court!

I have an Audible account but no acceess to my library

I have an Audible account. I consistently upgrade my browser, Suddenly I get a message that my browser is not updated, but it is. Why this persistent message? There is no way to contact them, even via chatbot, as it won't allow you type anything! Very disappointing. I shall not be continuing nor shall I advise any friends to use them In 2025, this is very low grade customer service. Zero for customer service

I would give zero stars if I could..

I would give zero stars if I could... I have been an Audible customer since 2009. Over the years I have had issues with this company and their software...spent a good few hours talking to their customer services and technicians to resolve issues. Finally in 2024 I had enough. I decided to cancel my subscription but spoke with their CS to make sure I would still be able to access the books I purchased after I was not a member.
They assured me I would.
I can't...
There is nothing in my library, all my books have gone!!!! 15years of books GONE!
Shame on you AMAZON/Audible

I own over 300 Audiobooks

I have never had a problem with them, i have always been able to refund any Audiobooks that i am not keen on, All i have to do is use my Desktop PC and chat to an agent by using the online chat box, they have never refused a refund, i have even sometimes been a few hours into an Audiobook and not refused.

The app has crashed a couple of times in the many years i have used it, it does not concern me.

I do feel though that in order to get you to use a credit to get an Audiobook only the 5 star reviews are are shown until you click on see all reviews on a book.

I currently use the 24 credit for £100 a year, and i occasionally fork out for 5 credits every month or two.

Going back to refunds, the few manual refunds you get are only reset once a year then you have to chat to an Agent using the chat box, its easy.

Lovely staff poor UI & UX…

Lovely staff but the UI (user interface) is broken. "Your account" is basically settings only. If you signed up before Amazon bought Audible (2008) your Original Audible account doesn't exist but if you loathe Amazon as I do, do not delete your Amazon account because it deletes your Audible library and it's very difficult to fix and will never be the same.

Beware of disappearing titles

I've given audible 2 stars in recognition of the great pleasure I've had listening to over 500 books during the 10+ years I've been a member. However, I've realised recently that some of the books in my treasured library were going missing. I managed to find purchase email confirmation for some and get those ones re-instated through customer service (despite my questions I was not given any explanation as to why this had happened), but they now appear to have disappeared again. These are books I've bought so if they disappear it feels like theft. I also don't like the way you can't cancel your membership without losing your library. Again, these are books I've bought and I don't think my access to them should be dependent on a continuing subscription payment.
