Lost Access to My Audiobooks – No Real Help from Customer Support
I had an Audible UK account with 18 purchased audiobooks. After relocating to South Africa, I could no longer access the UK mobile number linked to my account for OTP verification—though my email remained the same. When I reached out to customer care, they insisted I provide the old credit card used in 2021, which has long since expired and been discarded during our move. Without that, they refused to help further.
It’s deeply frustrating that there’s no alternative way to verify my identity or recover access to my purchases. I’ve effectively lost all the books I paid for. This experience has left me extremely disappointed—it feels like a complete disregard for loyal customers and more like a system designed to trap your purchases behind bureaucracy.
Very upsetting and frankly unacceptable.
Awful customer service
I called the customer service to find out why they keep charging me for books despite the fact that I have a year-long subscription. The agent sounded like I was annoying her simply for calling. When I asked her to repeat herself, she said, "What do you mean? I just told you everything," and then hung up.
If I could give them 0 stars I would
If I could give them 0 stars I would. Worst audio book app I have ever tried, terrible set up and expensive for no reason at all. Also never actually made an account, had Amazon prime that I cancelled and audible them upped the price and kept me as a paying costumer but count use my account because it was cancelled. Over all, not a good experience not while using or after cancelling. Try something else, anything will be better.

I lost access to account I have had for years. I have spent so much on there and can't access the email anymore. I have all the details still and can prove it's me the purchased everything on there. I can't get back the hundreds of pounds I spent on it. When I contact them I get passed person to person till I end up in a call queue that is never answered. Terrible customer service. Also I've been a member for years and they never offer anything to long term members. Only new ones.
I was having trouble with a coupon
I was having trouble with a coupon that was offered on the website, so I called and spoke with Alex at Audible in customer service, he was so helpful. We worked together patiently back and forth to come to a resolution. Mr. Alex blessed me and helped me get a couple credits since my account was so challenging. What a stand up guy with a real high class of professionalism! Thank you Mr. Alex in customer service!
Audible benefiting from card theft
Audible refused to halt a transaction despite knowing that the card used did not belong to the account, so fraudulent. So they are a party to the theft and benefiting from the transaction . They also refused to allow a complaint to be made.

I've never been so dissatisfied with a subscription service. It's very easy to get robbed blind when you begin dealing with Audible.
While I should have caught it sooner, I was unaware I was still being charged monthly for amazon - mostly due to the fact that it is linked with your amazon account.
Even though the card on file was deactivated, this service was still able to charge my checking account DIRECTLY because I was careless enough to enable ACH transactions for Amazon. I did this at one point so that I could order goods on Amazon while waiting for a new debit card in the mail. I did not realize that gave Audible permission to collect payments for a subscription.
Fortunately, I was able to get a refund for some of the months - but doing this actually froze my bank account for suspicious activity. I have not received the full refund that was promised as of writing this... not to mention the fact that it's not a FULL refund. I probably opened the audible app a handful of times the first month I had it.
The customer support WAS friendly, but it doesn't make up for all the trouble this service has caused me. Let's not even get into the fact that you don't actually own this material.
If you want to delete your audible account and all your personal info that goes along with it, you must ALSO delete your amazon account!! I actually went through with that. As inconvenient as it is... I would much rather Audible/Amazon not have my contact/banking info at this point.
I also very much dislike the guilt tripping about unused credits and all that. Like excuse me... you're treating me like a fish on a hook but I haven't even finished listening to a SINGLE book on this platform! Complete waste of money and very sketchy dealing with them.
You will be sorry if you do business with Audible.
Audible is trying to charge me for a free trial. And there is no way to contact them to dispute it. I don't do business with entities like this. Fortunately ;they have been unable to process my credit card.
Zero stars
Zero stars. I bought 2 books by an author recommended to me. I chose the wrong author. Since I paid for those items with a card instead of using credits I cannot return them. Very shitty policy and what a great way to treat long term members. I’ll definitely be looking for alternatives for my next audiobook.

I was an Audible customer and had 94 books in my library. My subscription stopped without any warning and I lost all 94 books worth approx $1000.00 at $10.00/ book. In my opinion Amazon is going downhill. I now use Audiobooks.
I’ve been an Audible customer for 24…
I’ve been an Audible customer for 24 years, maintaining my Light Listener plan plus purchasing other titles throughout the month. Under my plan I would get 2 titles a month. Amazon then purchased Audible and was going to cancel the Light Listener plan. Due to the negative responseto, they did not cancel it and I have continued to maintain my plan. Today, we loyal Audible clients have been advised that we are all being cancelled. That if we want to continue, they will charge us $1 per month more but will reduce our titles to only 1TITLE per month. We knew Amazon would scree us over when they took possession of Audible because Amazon has NO loyalty. They disgust me. Just like all other corporations, loyalty is never rewarded. You do not matter in any way to Amazon.
no audible sharing in the UK
although customer service said you can share audible books with family account I have now been told you can NOT in the UK . This is not acceptable.
Frequent skipping place in an Audible book
Regularly I experience unacceptable problems with failure to open and skipping place in the book. Completely unacceptable. Find another source for ebooks, it cannot be worse than Audible.
Zero across the board
Zero across the board. Cancelling a membership shouldn’t be this difficult. I’ve read hundreds of reviews saying the same thing which means it’s YOU— not us.
It’s unfortunate that the only way you keep most of your customers is by putting them through a frustrating and endless looping maze until they’re either out of time or patience, and they subsequently end up having to pay another month, right? Never again.
Where are my books?!!!
I would give zero stars if I could... I have been an Audible customer since 2009. Over the years I have had issues with this company and their software...spent a good few hours talking to their customer services and technicians to resolve issues. Finally in 2024 I had enough. I decided to cancel my subscription but spoke with their CS to make sure I would still be able to access the books I purchased after I was not a member.
They assured me I would.
I can't... There is nothing in my library, all my books have gone!!!! 15years of books GONE!
Shame on you AMAZON/Audible
Never used they service
Never used they service. did not even know they existed untill received msg from bank they trying to deduct money from my credit card. Funny enough I did not use my credit card for months, probably years. So how did the managed to get to the account? Is it them or someone just under they name?
No way would I ever consider using them…
No way would I ever consider using them again. At least 8 times they have automatically started charging mine and my wife’s credit card on cancelled audible accounts. So dishonest it’s criminal. There’s no way to take your credit card details off their website either.
Scammers…
I do not even have a membership with audible and received a fraudulent charge from my bank. Audible refused to remove MY bank card from the account because I didn’t know the name of the person on that account that stole my card information. I have never been a customer of their’s, nor we I ever. What scammers they are!
