Would not recommend food average loud music we couldn't hear ourselves talk loud customers
A memorable experience but not for the right reasons. Such a shame, as I had really hoped for better. On arrival we were shown to our table and it was immediately apparent that there was a cold draught coming in through the front door. At first we just put it down to the fact it had mistakenly been left open but were then informed there was a fault with it, with waiting staff having to periodically hold it closed. This was clearly not a viable option for the duration of the evening so it was left largely open throughout the course of our meal, which necessitated in us all adorning coats and scarves to stave off the cold. A little surprising that the apparent boss who was for the entirety of the evening sat behind the bar, and who could clearly see us sat there in our coats, at no point came over to apologise or offer any gesture of good will . Spatial awareness is clearly not his forte or any curiosity as to why we'd resorted to being clad in several layers. I don't have any issues with the waiting staff who were simply doing their job, but I do take issue with the owner who was apathetic and not in the least bit concerned. The explanation as to "door gate" was that the building was listed and literally nothing could be done to rectify it's inoperative state. I am not sure what correlation that has to do with the mechanics of a door not being able to close. Food wise, one of the dishes that looked like shop bought houmous, came with a singular Tortilla chip (not sure that constitutes a Turkish ingredient). How exactly were you meant to consume the rest of the dish having consumed said Mexican crisp? Overall the food was average given the price. I don't however think the experience was irretrievable. All it would have required would have been some empathy from the indifferent owner and perhaps an apology for the "Grand Canyon" chasm of a gap in the front door, maybe even a discount or an offer to move us to another table but no such offer to placate us was forthcoming. We left with the impression that there was little if any thought spared for their customers for a very so so experience in terms of the food on offer which lacked any truly authentic Turkish taste and no evidence of concern in any shape or form whatsoever as to our discomfort. It's safe to say this will be our first and last visit to this restaurant. I would so like to have had something complimentary to say for a local newly established restaurant, but I can't. What a shame. Unless they change their mindset, attitude and that blessed door, avoid it like the plague! PS If you still wish to visit, wear plenty of warm clothes!!!
