To be a psychologist in the USA or anywhere, people study for 3 years then do a post-grad. If they didn't do that, they aren't qualified. Ask about their qualifications before you hand over money. If it's a real therapist, they will be happy to show you their university certificate and license, and you can verify it beforehand.
