Horrible customer service

I have had my personal taxes prepared by the Sidney, BC branch for the past few years. The cost was high, however, I thought in the past it was because of having gone thru an settling an estate. Last year I was charged $425.00.
This year with absolutely no notice my invoice was $715.00. The only difference is I had submitted dental receipts from the past 5 years.
When question the increase of $300.00 I was told while my return was a "simple" return that was basically their cost and they had taken a loss with my taxes in the past. Whaaaattt??
I am so very disappointed and response when I said I would be taking my business else where next year, the response was Good luck and I have closed your account.
Please if you are thinking of using this accounting firm - DO NOT.

Zero delivery on worthless paper contract

Baker Tilly JFC UAE failed to perform contractually after significant upfront retainer fees were paid. They then reneged on alternative solutions being provided and ghosting me not having the capability to deliver on the contract on account of third party providers

Looks good...but incompetent

Worst accounting firm we have come across in Victoria. While personable, their accountants filed our CRA returns without having our company pay us personally. This after being reviewed by a manager and a partner.
Additionally, their administrative division double billed us on invoicing. Overall, more than underwhelmed by this high-priced firm.

Very Dissatisfied

I don't know a better way to put this other than they are cowards and the business is managed strangely.

They were difficult to get meetings with. And then suddenly stopped providing help and wished me luck. Would not explain what or why. Simply ghosted me.

Very bizarre, but after doing some searching online, I'm seeing that this poor performance is not unusual. Which is reassuring. I could not, for the life of me, figure out what had happened for our relationship to sour for them to suddenly stop responding.

Used the office out of Massachusetts…

Used the office out of Massachusetts for a SOC2 audit - the audit team was not knowledgeable and tended to stray from the written controls and change the rules as we went along. The final report was horrible and it took almost 2 months after promises of delivering it sooner than later.

Baker/Tilly is claiming that PNC and…

Baker/Tilly is claiming that PNC and Truist banks will participate in the digital dollar scheme. I bank at PNC and asked the manager and was informed that this claim is absolutely FALSE! My friend banks at Truist and was told the same thing.
So I wouldn't put much faith in things that Baler/Tilly reports on when it comes to Democrat schemes to control our finances from now on! And don't be afraid to ask your bank if you see them listed on that article.

Update: This is the worst accounting experience…

This is the worst accounting experience I have ever had. Originally used Baker Tilly Services in Tysons Corner VA after raised capital for our start up in 2018. After using our company was acquired in 2021 we decided to use BT for our personal family foundation. Our Rep Steve reffered us to an attorney to file our 501c3 who charged over 20k something that could have been done with about 1k. Then our foundation taxes didn't get filed for 3 years all the while we were under the impression that this was being taken care of. Steve leaves the firm and to our surprise nothing has been taken care of. We have a call with the new team member Jamie Lawson in Sept.2023 they asked for documents and the deadline being before the holidays. and that they will file for feburary extension. We provide the documents requested by Dec 10th they then tell us that it's too late and that we need to redo our application for 501 c3 with the attorney again to regain status.

UPDATE: Tuesday Feb 13, 2024: After filling a formal complaint the firm has assigned us new team members to work with Heather has been great to deal with and has been helping us with the above mentioned issues.

SIPP transfer glacially slow

I have a SIPP that is managed by Baker Tilly in the Isle of Man. In the current financial climate I have not been happy with the fees that they take or with the charges of the financial platform, where the SIPP is invested. Therefore on the 8th December 2022 I completed forms with another UK financial provider to transfer the SIPP out of the Isle of Man. They must have contacted Baker Tilly before the end of 2022 as I received a Baker Tilly form to complete on the 18th Jan 2023 which I duly did and sent back to them. Since then I have been waiting for the transfer in specie to be completed. I have received conflicting information as to whether it is Baker Tilly or the financial platform who is at fault but neither seem willing to complete this transfer as they taking money out of my pension to pay themselves for doing nothing. It appears that there is little financial protection in the Isle of Man for individuals so all I can do is keep sending angry emails to the companies concerned. My advice would be to steer well clear of the Isle of Man if you want to invest. I have transferred other significant investments with other institutions and this has taken two weeks at most so I do not understand why this has taken coming up to 7 months.
