I've been using BandLab for over a year…

I've been using BandLab for over a year now. I had a couple of albums that my band had recorded on analog gear and I wanted to remaster it and clean it up a bit. BandLab does that pretty well.
But, after remastering about 15 songs, BandLab unpublished two of them for potential copyright infringements. One was a traditional folk song from the 1800s performed by my band. No copyright infringement there. The other was an original I had written, and my band's recording of it is the only existing recording of the song. No copyright infringement there, either.
Obviously, their algorithms have a problem. But their customer service isn't very good, and it has wasted a lot of my time to argue with them to get my own work republished on the platform. That would be one thing if it was some kind of free app, but it's not. Fix your shit, BandLab. Or keep losing customers.

Falsely accused of Harassment - Need to file lawsuit right now

Hello BandLab Team,

This is Israel, and I need to file a serious complaint regarding the way I have been treated on your platform. I’ve come to the conclusion that I will no longer be using BandLab after what has happened to me.

A user under the handle @islaraye_ left a comment on one of my main accounts posts telling me that I should delete my account. Following that, the same user began threatening me. This is unacceptable. BandLab claims to have a zero-tolerance policy against harassment, yet situations like mine show that this policy is not being enforced fairly or consistently.

It’s frustrating and exhausting to deal with this kind of behavior on a platform that is supposed to encourage creativity and community. Many of the people using your app are very young, and it’s important that BandLab recognizes the responsibility it carries in protecting its users. Parents and users alike should feel confident that the platform is safe, but instead, I feel as though my account and personal safety were compromised.

What makes this worse is that I was falsely accused of harassment when I did absolutely nothing wrong. Being exposed and blamed for things I did not do is humiliating, unfair, and damaging. At the same time, I have noticed major issues with the platform itself:

When I block someone, they still find ways to comment on my posts.

Accounts that impersonate me have appeared, confusing my followers and making it look like I am behind actions I never took. My followers made me took the blame for someone else's mistake.

My posts have been flagged for harassment, even though there is no reason for them to be.

All of this makes me feel like BandLab’s algorithm is broken, unfair, and easily abused. I see other people being banned for no reason and never getting their accounts back, while those who actually harass others seem to get away with it. This is absolutely unacceptable.

To be honest, I feel like BandLab is more focused on punishing innocent users than actually addressing the real problems. That is why I’ve made the difficult decision to step away from your platform. Unless these problems are fixed, I cannot trust BandLab with my content or my safety.

At this point, because of the constant harassment, impersonation, false accusations, and the failure of the platform to protect me, I am considering taking legal action regarding this incident.

Sincerely,
Israel

BandLab Playing Copyright Games - Are They Trying To Steal Music?

Rather than pasting the whole conversation between bandlab and myself, I'll just paste the last two communiqués. That should sum up the issue.

Hi Michael,

Thanks for the reply! I can see that your project was actually flagged for copyrighted content. Due to this, it was removed from the public, and the Boost campaign was suspended. Just to get more info about what happened, can you please confirm the following?

1. Did you use any third-party samples, or was your song created with AI?
-Please include the licence agreement (exclusive or non-exclusive) in your response. You can usually request it from the original producer or licensor.

2. Is your song a cover/remix?
-Please share the mechanical licence for the song. Simply crediting the original artist isn’t enough for a public release. You can find out more about mechanical licensing here.

3. Has your song been distributed on major retailing platforms like Spotify, YouTube Music or Apple Music?
-Please send us a screenshot of your distribution page so we can verify the release.

Please let us know if you're only using the samples and beats from BandLab. To avoid being flagged, we recommend modifying or layering the sounds instead of using them exactly as they appear in the pack. Someone else may have already released a track using the same sounds on major streaming platforms.

In the meantime, we encourage you to review our Community Guidelines, Terms of Use, and Copyright Policy.

Best regards,
Miggy
______________________________________________________

Hi Miggy,

What??? That is about the most absurd thing I have ever heard. Firstly, me, myself and I deleted the post - because an unmastered version was inadvertently uploaded by one of the other crew members - and I was told via a pop-up this would end my campaign while I was in the process of deleting the boosted/promoted post. I reached out to you all because I was unsure whether or not the funds could be reapplied towards the corrected master-version of "Hell's Trespassing Here", that's since been uploaded. If the original had supposedly been flagged, then why hasn't the current mastered version been also flagged? So, I have no Idea where you all are getting your information from or how you could possibly come to such a conclusion, when it was Covenant Crew Records, LLC that deleted the post. I'm not only astonished but incredibly curious as to how such a thing can so easily be turned into a "copyright" issue - which is slanderous, by the way - when it had absolutely nothing to do with the reason I originally reached out to you all for in the first place. Very suspicious.

Well, there is a bright side to all of this... that Covenant Crew Records, LLC learned this about bandlab early on in our relationship, before spending too much more funds.

Thanks for your time...

Regards,
Michael Nobles

good lord.

This site is so godawful that it makes sitebuilders whistle like a mechanic.
CHAPTER 1 - BOTS, BOTS EVERYWHERE
Upon checking comments on a track, there is NOTHING but bot profiles with disgusting names and pfps. (This site is for people 13 and up.) Bandlab is doing nothing about it. There are also nonstop scams in your DMs.
CHAPTER 2 - SOCIAL HELLHOLE
fake likes! The hours, days, or possibly months you spent on a song is met with 2 likes from people who didn't even listen. Some people are extremely toxic too, and what does Bandlab do, you may ask? They terminate the guy who said "I'm gonna crash out" as a joke. Bandlab "mods" are like heat-seeking missiles that accidentally target your own army and not the enemy.
CHAPTER 3 - ADS, NOTHING BUT ADS
They went from free to "we added a cool state-of-the-art new feature that will revolutionize music but you can't use it because it's paid and extremely overpriced lmao". Everywhere you go is an ad. AND, you can get literally NOWHERE without the "Boost" feature (paid, as usual).
CHAPTER 4 - MAKING MUSIC
[Subchapter: Bandlab Sounds]
Bandlab sounds! Sounds like heaven, surrounded by thousands of free loops. But the catch is that half of them are garbled nonsense and completely offbeat. One of the amen breaks I found there is literally ripped from a sample pack.
[Subchapter: Studio]
God, where do I start? First off, the track limit of 15 is incredibly ungenerous. Second, when you import audio, there's a solid chance it chops off a teeny tiny bit of the first part, making it offbeat. Then, you have to re-add the part it chopped off by extending the first part BUT WAIT! NOW, it extends endlessly, meaning it's extremely painful to make it sync again. Then, when you zoom all the way in to pinpoint where to slice to sync it again, you'll find that attempting to zoom back out will crash the site and literally everything around it.
CHAPTER 5 - BANDLAB, DESTROYER OF STORAGE
While you're in the studio, do you ever check how much space it's taking up? I did. It can take up a whopping TEN GIGABYTES, completely obliterating your RAM and CPU. I opened BandLab with eight gigabytes, and the studio whittled it down to four hundred megabytes.
CHAPTER 6 - ENDLESS LAG
Everything is delayed by what feels like nine million years. You open your library, click on a song, try to open it in studio, and find that it's delayed by 5 minutes. And in those 5 minutes, Bandlab will make a fine meal of your computer, so you can kiss writing music goodbye.
CHAPTER 7 - OTHER ERRORS
"Oops! Something is wrong" will block you from doing literally anything, completely randomly.
"We'll be back shortly." has a solid chance of happening every time you open up the site. It can last seconds, hours, or even a whole day.
"Sisyphean login": When you log in, it just takes you back to the login page. Then, when you log in again, it takes you back to the login, over and over again. And this bug most likely will not be fixed in the same 4 hours as you encountered it.
FINAL VERDICT
This site is not worth your time. Please get FL Studio and forget about BandLab. I promise you, you will not miss it.
Thank you for reading.

Poor platform and customer service.

Poor platform, I got a new computer and tried to log onto my account only for it to delete everything automatically and reset. I am an annual paid member and want a pro-rated refund for all the problems for the remaining amount of the subscription, the verification process is a nightmare. All of my tracks are gone several years of work.

The platform only allows 30 tracks to be used in the daw if you are a paid member which is very limited. The new AI mixing tool is horrible, makes the tracks sound worst.

BandLab - get locked out once and getting back in is a nightmare. Not worth the effort

I used the mastering service which wasn't too bad for an amateur like myself. However, when I had an issue logging in (I am a subscriber), the process to "recover my account" was nightmarish and massively intrusive. These people must up their game and get their feet back on the ground. It is not Fort Knox that I am trying to re enter. Not worth the effort so I have taken my business elsewhere - here's the process: For security purposes, we’ll need to verify your identity and ownership of the account before we help you regain access to it. Please follow the steps below and provide us with all the information requested:

1. Account Information
Kindly provide the following details:
Username of the account you're trying to recover:
Email address linked to the account:
Phone number linked to the account (if any):
Names of at least three (3) private, unpublished projects:
Usernames of any accounts you’ve blocked (if any):
City and country you usually log in from:
Device you typically use to access BandLab:
If you have several email addresses and BandLab accounts and are unsure which email is linked, feel free to include any possibilities.

2. Selfie Verification
This selfie is essential for verifying your account — please don’t skip it.

Please write the following on a piece of paper, take a selfie of yourself holding it, and attach the image to your reply:
The username of the account you're trying to recover
The name of your last private, unpublished project
3. New Email Address
Provide a new email address we can link to your account.
Important: It must not be associated with any other BandLab account.

New Email: (please enter it here)

If we can match the information you've provided to the information on the account you're trying to recover, we’ll walk you through the next steps to regain access to the account.

Very good and extending over time...

I am using this program since 2 years. It is (in basic version) free of charge and with the adequate equipment (I paid 100 bucks) it is really good. You need to search a little to discover the tones you want, melodies to accompany (which I get from Background music - as well free). As in a real studio, you need an independent headphone and a microphone (blue tooth). The result can be stunning. Only problem: the sound changes, when you download. You might have to rearrange volume the second time. It needs some time to find out all possibilities - but once you get there, its good. And: You still need to be a musician to use it well - its not made for AI music.

Genuine BandLab review.

I have been using BandLab for several years, since around 2020 (ish). There are a few things I want to talk about, so I have made this into three sections so that it is easy to follow.
My favourite aspects are the effects, EQs and so on. I make metal music, so being able to have those EQs and mess with them to find my sound is amazing. I already have a distortion/overdrive pedal and EQ that is hooked up to my guitar, but the app gives it the additional freshness and clarity with their amazing customisable EQs. Recording is made very easy because you can also save your custom effects which saves a lot of time and makes sure that all of your original music has a cohesive sound. Editing is very easy as well. That is something I used to find challenging, but BandLab makes it a breeze. I tried using different apps/websites but for me it was difficult to use. Bandlab is easier in my opinion.
A part that I don't like about BandLab is the crashing of the site at times, which doesn't save progress. I do find it to be buggy at times, which does get very frustrating. Sometimes it takes a very long time to save, but that is not surprising because my music has many layers (2-4 guitars, bass, drums, 2-4 layers of vocals). So sometimes it is not BandLabs fault for taking a while. I do have to say that I agree with some of the reviews where they say that it is hard to use at first. I was so confused and didn't know what I was looking at. But once I got used to it and found my way, it was easy.
Overall my experience had been quite satisfying with BandLab. It is a good app, with a lot of different effects and mastering options (I am subscribed to them). It is easy to use after figuring it out and the community on there is nice as well. I follow a range of musicians outside of my genre and listening to some of their music is truly eye opening. My friends also use BandLab. I was actually recommended the app, and then I started to recommend it too. I do agree with some people that have left reviews that BandLab does crash, and doesn't save progress. But I advise to just take it a little bit slower, give the app/website some time, and save between layers/takes to edit later. I do use the app and website extremely regularly. I think that it is my most used app at the moment since I am recording a lot. Otherwise, I think 4 stars is perfect. Only minor issues, but otherwise, it is an amazing app.

BandLab has completely transformed my…

BandLab has completely transformed my music creation experience, and I couldn’t be more thrilled to give it a glowing 5-star review.

From the moment I started using BandLab, I was impressed by its intuitive interface and versatile features. Whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned musician, BandLab makes it incredibly easy to produce high-quality music. The digital audio workstation (DAW) is sleek, user-friendly, and packed with powerful tools that rival professional-grade software—all for free!

One of the standout features is the cloud-based collaboration. Being able to work on projects with other musicians from around the world in real-time is a game-changer. It fosters creativity and makes remote teamwork seamless. The integrated mastering tool is another highlight, delivering professional-quality mastering with just a few clicks.

The vast library of loops, samples, and virtual instruments allows for endless creativity. The MIDI editor is precise and flexible, making it a breeze to fine-tune every note. Additionally, the mobile app is just as robust as the desktop version, which means I can work on my music anywhere, anytime.

BandLab’s community is vibrant and supportive, offering a platform to share music, get feedback, and discover new artists. The fact that all these features are accessible without any hidden costs is simply amazing.

In summary, BandLab is an exceptional platform that empowers musicians to create, collaborate, and share their music effortlessly. It’s innovative, reliable, and continually evolving to meet the needs of its users. I highly recommend it to anyone passionate about music production.

I joined Bandlab during the pandemic

I joined Bandlab during the pandemic. At the time I found it enjoyable, nice community of people, good feedback, lots of listens and lots of interesting samples.
It serves no purpose for me, nowadays. There are only annoying ads and flogging services I am not interested in.

Great online mastering feature!

This website was extremely essential for my music mastering. I am still a beginner producer, and Bandlab offered top-tier music mastering, enhancing the sound quality of my song greatly. I tried other music mastering websites, but none offered as good mastering as BandLab. It was still annoying that I could only access it through a free trial, however, all other websites required immediate payment.

Went from decent to horrible

Went from decent to horrible. Even in its best form me and my friend were able to make bad music with very few tools with complications. At its best, when you made music with friends you would get disconnected every now and then and had to join back and lose progress. You would have to refresh occasionally because it just wouldn’t show your recordings. Now, it hasn’t gotten better. It’s gotten much worse. You can’t create music with friends, it won’t open half of the time, the edit tab to chance volume and pitch doesn’t work. This service went from slightly bad to absolutely horrible and useless.

I was falsely accused and black marked

I was falsely accused of selling illegal substances through Bandlab WHEN I REPUBLISHED a track that I cleaned up for re-release called, 'Babylon Priests'. A spiritual reggae song I made and wrote. They have ignored a dozen emails from me. I am a paid subscriber and paid money for boosting my tracks, just to find out all the likes come from bots. At YouTube they take fake accounts and bot likes down, but not lame ass Bandlab!!! Bots have completely taken over and ruined Bandlab. My subscription doesn't end till November and I would like a partial refund, but I'll never see it because Bandlab Technologies are Crooks!!!! They have slandered me, disregarded my inquiries to what happened, ignored my requests for refund and now are blocking me. BEWARE PEOPLE!!!

It's ok for finding new beats, but HORRRIBLE at promos. BOTS on BOTS on BOTS! DO NOT spend money on that app, is my opinion, but do what you want. You get what you pay for and you didn't pay for half ass products that needed a boost from AI to get customers. Shame too. Such a powerful tool, if they use it right.
