Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Considering 913 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. People are extremely frustrated with excessively long phone wait times, automated systems that constantly fail to connect, and unhelpful customer support when trying to resolve critical payment and account issues. Consumers frequently deal with delayed deposits, unexpected transaction holds, and sudden account closures without proper advance notice. Though some customers encountered severe banking obstacles, a few reviewers were happy with specific branch staff who provided professional, attentive, and welcoming assistance. These positive interactions successfully resolved urgent matters and made certain branch visits smooth and genuinely reassuring despite widespread systemic frustrations.

have been a Bank of America customer…

have been a Bank of America customer for 16 years, and I can honestly say this has been the most disappointing banking experience I’ve ever had.

This isn’t about one isolated incident. Over the years, I’ve repeatedly found that Bank of America is unwilling to help its customers. If you overdraw your account, they charge you fees. If you ask for assistance, they simply quote their policies instead of looking for a reasonable solution.

My most recent experience was the final straw. Despite being a loyal customer for 16 years with direct deposit, they refused to make any effort to help. When I asked to speak with a supervisor, I felt dismissed instead of valued as a long-time customer.

Loyalty means nothing to this bank. They seem far more interested in collecting fees than building relationships with their customers.

After 16 years, I will be moving my banking elsewhere. I would not recommend Bank of America to anyone looking for a bank that values and supports its customers.

The operators are nice enough

The operators are nice enough, however if you have more than time decent size transactions in the same date that are similar you're gonna be sent to fraud line to release use of your account/card. It's ridiculous we're in a public place the response time is up to hours at some times. If you have something two dollars or ten and you report fraud you're gonna hate it. They are gonna loose u in the vortex.

BECAUSE OF BOA I CAN'T DRIVE MY NEW CAR for 10 days

I bought a car from a private seller that was financed by BOA. I wired the purchase amount to BOA, who after 4 hours, applied the funds to the sellers account which more than covered his balance. I asked for a notice of lien release and a title app. I was told three to 10 business days. I went to the DMV, who after a two hour wait, could Not give me a temp tag, because I had no release of lien. After a couple more hours with BOA, the results were the same. THANKS TO BOA, I HAVE A NEW CAR THAT I PAID FOR IN FUL,L, AND I CAN'T DRIVE IT FOR 10 BUSINESS DAYS.

25 plus years and I regret them all

I have been with this bank for over 25years and frankly nothing makes me more uncomfortable than this relationship. They are not out for you in any way. They are a better investment than a bank you can trust. Every chance they get they find ways to take my money. If you get caught up in their marketing you will pay for it for the rest of your life. Take a chance on another bank. I am going to leave these scoundrals despite our long history. Just because you screwed me for 25 years does not mean I amready to take another screw.25

Incredibly long wait time for Customer Service

I like the portal and almost every aspect of the App. The reason for the 2 stars is that I can't get through to customer service. over 1 hour a week ago and had to hang up. I am now on hold 32 minutes today and nothing... This is incredibly frustrating.

Fraudulent charge

Checked my account online today and saw a debit charge for $349.56 supposedly for my Tampa Bay Times subscription. I called the Times and they confirmed that my subscription was paid till 12/27/2026!! Called BoA, stayed on hold for 48 minutes! The person I talked to was absolutely no help. They suggested to freeze the account meaning a new account number. She did not understand how difficult that would be with all the deposits going into that account - Social security, military retirement, VA disability payment! Eventually the woman said 'Well, then you have to live with that charge"!! and then she ended the call!
Needless to say, that is not the answer I was hoping for.
Seems like BoA just does not care about long time customers and simply allows fraud to happen!

BofA cannot be Trusted

Trust is both the cornerstone of banking business and the DNA-level ethos of financial custodians. If a bank cannot/will not behave in a trustworthy manner, it does not deserve to be trusted with your earnings. That Bank of America consistently fails in every aspect of trust is borne out in the thousands of unhappy, angry, hurt, disappointed customers - nay, victims - on Trustpilot. That it displays its unforgivable arrogance in refusing to reply to negative reviews (the overwhelming majority) screams that it does not care one iota about anyone - except possibly the ultra-wealthy. I’m still in the throes of neglect & insult trying to resolve a five-day crisis surrounding access to MY money. Hope of professional courtesy, kindness, honesty, integrity & ethical conduct has long ago evaporated. I am looking elsewhere. Now!

Low trust level with BOA

I've been with Bank of America for 40 years and recently had the most disturbing experience with a branch in Kenmore, WA. I went into make a deposit, a transaction that should have taken 1 minute. I was second in line and was taken by an associate into his office to serve me more quickly. He proceeded to look at my financial accounts, including my brokerage accounts, and upsell me for 10-15 minutes, delaying the deposit so he could offer me products and services. It's is the slimiest financial transaction I've experienced ever, and this is a bank I've given 40 years of loyalty to. And when it was finally time to make the deposit, he walked me up to the cash machine in the lobby.

I spoke to the manager. It's clear he knows about the manipulation going on here. Then he gave me information about cashing a check that I know was incaccurate. Be cautious with BOA. After 40 years, I'm moving most of my assets elsewhere.

Systemic and Intentional Bungling of Fraud Claim

My bank account was charged thousands by someone in a foreign country buying airline tickets. I reported the fraud within a couple of hours, and despite numerous phone calls and completely unhelpful online interactions, in which I specifically and clearly invoked Visa's zero liability fraud policy, I was not provided the provisional credit for the defrauded funds within five days, ten days, or ever. I contacted the airline, who has been far more helpful and responsive. Everybody reading this should lnow that there is no clear way to enforce the zero liability for fraud policy, so avoid this bank and avoid Visa if you want to keep your money safe.

I was the guy that used to argue with others on why BOA is the best bank in the US.
Today I stay quiet when this conversation come up.

Insane waiting time to speak to a representative!
Communication is all through Ai systems, no more customer care!
No intention in solving anything.
I dont know how long will i stay with them, not sure for too long..

Bank of America (B of A) has the worst customer service

If I had a choice here I would give B of A a minus since their service has always been the worse. Especially the one located on Santa Monica Blvd in West L.A . The manager if the branch was doing nothing sitting at his desk when asked to help he said he was busy and not available for st least ten minutes..They refused to give my belongings and I called the police on them. The girl called Aiza said you are going to lose and making a mistake b calling the police and I was heading to the police station in West L.A & found this amazingly helpful officer on his way and asked for his help. Officer Brown followed me to the bank and asked soon as he arrived & they saw him with me they said your belongings were waiting for you which was a surprise because I was kicked out before I arrived with the police. So you see once you stand up for your rights things work out. Although this makes B of A to look even worse than it is with their service because an officer had to show up for them to get their act together. Never going back there & will let everyone know so they won’t go through that horrible experience like I did. But I guess you live and learn.

We went to the Tulsa Branch in Yale

We went to the Tulsa Branch in Yale, & found the Ladies that helped Us were fabulous! They were especially patient & kind & answered all Our Questions & Concerns. Their Names are Abril Ngu, & Meranda Moreno! We have been using this Branch for Years, & Highly recommend them! Today I was amazed how generous they were with the time it took to answer all Our Questions! I’m a senior still in a grief mode since my husband passed away months ago, so My Daughter asked many Questions on my behalf! So please recognize their outstanding customer service!!
