Bannerman canceled our security guard ~3.5 hours before the event start time via email.

I work at another SF-based startup and am familiar with customer service, so here are some things that can be improved:

1. Better backups. Based on the 1-star reviews, it appears that the security guards hired by Bannerman are unreliable. A more robust backup system (they have one security guard on call) would solve this issue.

2. Better communications. In a situation like this, an email is an insufficient method of communication. A phone call would be the best option, followed by a text. From what I can gather, the email option is used to 1) save money on operational cost and 2) as a "passive" touchpoint so Bannerman can "claim" it contacted their client.

3. Better recourse. Since my security guard was canceled at the last minute, Bannerman should have offered me some recourse, like a free Bannerman for my next service. This works because 1) if the client uses it again, while it costs money, you retain the client and 2) if the client leaves, there's no loss (except for some accounting issues).

I told the very kind Customer Service agent by phone (I ended up emailing and calling them directly) that she is doing her best (and she was very sorry!) but because of this negative experience, I would take every opportunity to post a negative review of Bannerman in every Review Site, so you may see this review in other places as well.

Exactly what we asked for

The booking process was quick and easy through the platform. Available to find someone within less than a week's notice. The security person showed up on time and was friendly. We did not experience any issues with the service and were satisfied.

No show

As I mentioned before, we booked a doorman/bouncer for our busiest event of the year, Fremont Solstice. This is the ONLY day during the year when we need this service. Less than 24 hours to the event, the doorman cancelled and a replacement was not available, so on our our owners acted as security for the event. So, in all honesty, a 1 start isn't applicable because the service wasn't bad, it was absent.

Cool concept, ok execution

Service and app are pretty cool. My only complaint is that i asked for an "intimidating" security guard / bouncer twice in advance, but they sent someone who did not fit the bill.

Easy

Excellent and professional Bannerman

It is very difficult to get Security for an event. I found Bannerman after several calls to sheriff's offices weren't returned. Everything went very smoothly and if I have another even, I would use Bannerman again.

House empty and for sale

Drug users entered the house at night once the sale sign went up; night guard kept that from happening after that until sale completed. Reported to us when an issue arose with a tenant. Good service.
