I sent an email and got my answer same day, amazing.
Don't have new releases sent to you. They will be out of print by the time they arrive.

Won't ever use BN again.
My friend gave me a gift card. I don't travel out of town often, so I used their site to purchase a game for my grandchild as a gift. After several delays, it finally arrived 2 weeks later than expected, and the game is damaged (but the outside box is not). I can send it back, by paying postage which is not refundable, and wait 60 days to get a refund on my gift card. No thanks. She'll have outgrown the game by the time I can order and wait for it again.
Won't ever use BN again.

You only get a true feel for a company when you see how they react to a problem. B&N get a 10/10 on this front. Some items in my order were damaged, within minutes of contacting them they'd apologised profusely, offered me three options for a solution and sent me the requested refund. I've knocked off 1 star for it being damaged in the first place but otherwise couldn't ask for more.

B&N made a mistake by delivering the wrong item. I contacted them via email, and they agreed to refund me (I can also keep the incorrect item since I had the package delivered to France). However, it has been two weeks, and there’s still no sign of my refund in my PayPal account. I opened a PayPal case, but the seller isn't responding to keep my money. This is my first and last order on this website. These people are dishonest. They promise a refund but know very well that they will do nothing despite my numerous follow-ups and those from PayPal's customer service.
Barnes and noble website is awful. Kept rejecting my order, saying there were special characters in my phone number. There was not. I was charged for the order but no order shows on my account. What a nightmare. Will be switching to Amazon for my books from now on and skip this headache.

It's amazing to find out that a company as big as Barnes & Noble are carrying Gypsy Rose Blanchard's latest book and is about to presell it, shame on you for that, shame on you for giving someone who unalived her mother a platform when her story is completely corrupt, her behavior is disgusting on social media.... As long as you continue to do business with Gypsy Rose Blanchard I like so many others will not do business with this company and we'll make sure of that do better Barnes & Noble
Brick-and-mortar locations? Sure, they're fine. But the BN website is one of the worst websites I've finagled with. To do anything, they have to send a verification code to my email. I am not "one click away" from ordering books. It takes 15-20 minutes for BN to send me the verification email with the code (or any emails, for that matter), by which time the verification field has expired and I can't type in the code they sent me anymore. I shouldn't need to put in a verification code to buy something anyways, that's ridiculous. In total, I probably spent an hour trying to get put in codes. I've moved on to other online services. The BN website needs to get it together.

This store is so obviously politicized. The children’s section was full of dumbed down versions of left-leaning politician’s biographies, the social sciences section included only titles that celebrated democrats or their platform issues and whatever information on conservative politicians, issues or even religions were only leftist’s criticism. Will not be returning.
Bullied and treated me as a shoplifter immediately upon entry to the Hazard Center store in San Diego CA. I had a hour before my movie and, unfortunately, made the mistake of going in to browse. Now I love to look at books and have been to many a bookstore where a dominating book culture dictates one to be left alone by staff to leisurely look at the books, read and enjoy one's visit. But not here , not at Barnes & Noble. The female staff was immediately on me, asking, w/ a slightly rude tone- can I help you find anything. I said politely, no thank you. But they did not stop - different staff members all came over to ask this several times. I then tried to walk and get away from them so I could read in peace - but no, they followed me - always remaining in my line of sight - bustling about right next to me at some imaginary, book-tidying task. Mobbing me, while speaking overly loud to their cohorts. Assumedly, to ruin my visit there and destroy my reading comprehension. Ironic, considering their business. For they are no lover of books, nor of book readers. I complained loudly of their prejudicial and bullying treatment, so that the other customers could hear, and they called security on me. Not a safe space. One of the last B&N in San Diego and if you can gleam anything from the other reviews written here, on their last leg. Perhaps when they finally go under the ladies that work there, particularly the manager, can get jobs at the Las Colinas Detention and Reentry Facility. Would NOT recommend (obviously)

Have been a long time user of B&N...store and online. The "reviews" of B&N. Leave a great deal to be desired as most end by requesting completion of a survey form...when the germane information has already been included in the "Review".
Additionally, the complete lack of customer reviews on books (geography for my current search) leads one to quite skeptical of offerings. Why zero "customer reviews" on virtually all books, most gifts/toys
Seating has been removed. The less time I have for reviewing books ... the less books I purchase. Seating makes this a bit more relaxing. The coffee shop only had two customers and the wait was long and the employee did not acknowledge anyone when orders could have been taken.

I would like to echo Kathy's review. I have had a Nook for many years. When I first got it, it was capable of downloading and playing movies. I bought one for my grandchildren to be able to watch. A very short time later it stopped working. After hours on the phone I was told that B&N had decided to no longer support this function and disabled my Nook's ability to view the downloaded movie. The video took up over 4GB of memory and yet it was as if it wasn't there. B&N never helped. Thus I was eventually forced to start uploading purchased ebooks inorder to download new purchases. Over 250 books later I finish one and go to buy another and nothing works. On the phone again I am informed that they now are no longer supporting my NOOK at all and that I could buy a new one. Right. They junked my property with no notice and offer to help secure all my now cloud based books. How they hope to remain in business I don't know, but I do know it will not be with help from me!

DO NOT PURCHASE A NOOK! Effective June 2024, B&N will no longer support older NOOKs. I get that. However by disabling the new purchase option, they also disabled my ability to download and read my archived books! Books I ALREADY PAID FOR! Hundreds of dollars of books I can no longer access unless I feel like hauling a laptop around. And no text or email warning me ahead of time so I could download my books prior to the cut off! Terrible customer service. DON'T BUY A NOOK!

I placed an order for a book that was listed as available. A few hours later, I received an email stating the book was actually out of stock and would be delivered a week later than expected. Despite this, the book continued to be displayed as available on the website. Barnes & Noble did not take any action to address the delayed delivery, which is not customer-friendly.

Ordered a board game from Barnes & Noble years ago. Due to a damage card, I contacted the publisher recently and was asked about the Lot number and UPC code. I am shocked to get a reply that the product is counterfeit.
Barnes & Noble are struggling and may not be around for much longer and I discovered why as I attempted to publish my novels on their site and was rejected.
Best part is, they could not tell me why. My books are on Amazon, I wrote them, it seems B&N don't get customer service, more than that, they don't get that authors provide the product they sell.
It is a circus and they have plenty of clowns.

Update: Thank you for doing everything in your power to get this here before Father’s Day. I’m changing this to 5 stars because it was truly above and beyond. And, I won’t forget it.
Delay after delay. This company’s ridiculous.

**Edit** the company brought themselves from a 1 to a 4 by coming thru with my order ON TIME! I'm so impressed. I would've given five stars but 5/80 of the books came with printing errors. Otherwise, kudos!!
My bulk order is going to be late. I explained I need it in time for a conference. They said due to availability that's not possible...fine. I said they could send my books to my hotel instead...they said that's not possible because they can't change it in the system. Bullspit. I said they need to remedy this with a discount since it is their fault it will be delayed...surprise surprise they can't change it in the system.
I'll be going back to KDP.

On May 9th I ordered a product and it never arrived. I contacted customer service via live support and they gave me a phone number and told me to call. Today I was on the phone for 40 minutes and the lady on the phone was very polite and said they would send a new order. she created the order and the order was canceled. They connected me to someone more authorized. Again, I had a long conversation with a sweet lady and she said that she had solved the problem and that my orders would no longer be canceled and I just connected to customer service from live support and told them to send my lost order now, she gave me the same phone number again and said that she could not create the order. They must be kidding me. I wouldn't have a problem with this if I knew the phone call would be short, but when I call, I will listen to music for 10 minutes and tell the whole story from the beginning for half an hour. There can only be one explanation for this. I guess they don't want to sell the product and instead of saying that, they are trying to discourage the customer from shopping by overwhelming them. If you want to experience this terrible shopping experience, you can visit barnesandnoble.com.
