I had an excellent colour and cut today at the Ashby Salon, expertly created by Faith, who has been my stylist for a while now. Faith found exactly the colour I was hoping for by combining two shades. The cut was exacting with great attention to detail. Thank you, Faith you made me feel bright and chic again!

A Lovely young lady doing her apprenticeship, very polite and professional and did exactly what I wanted doing to my hair! Highly recommend.

First time in salon in Leicester , such a lovely experience. The stylist explained everything in detail and offered lots of options . Not at all pushy and I felt very comfortable and welcome , all the staff are so friendly and I love my new cut and colour . Highly recommend this salon

First time attending Barrie Stephen hair Salon on King's Street. I was warmly treated by the lady on reception. The salon is beautifully decorated and staff were very welcoming and courteous. I went to have a blow dry with the lovely Emme. She sat down with me. Talked to me about my hair routine, what sort of blowdry I would like and completely put me at ease. I could not believe Emme was an Apprentice. She is very mature and very talented. I had an AMAZING head massage and was thrilled with the service. I would highly recommend a visit to the Salon and for a blow-dry with Emme. Thank you. X

I cannot thank Keira enough for the incredible job she did correcting a botched colour from a previous salon. I came in feeling embarrassed about the state of my hair, but Keira immediately put me at ease with her warmth, professionalism, and clear expertise.

She took the time to understand exactly what had gone wrong and explained the process she’d use to fix it. The result? Absolutely flawless. My colour is now rich, natural, and exactly what I originally wanted.

I walked out feeling like me again. If you need someone you can trust with your hair, especially for colour correction, Keira is the one. Can’t recommend her highly enough!

I'd booked myself at Barrie Stephen on King Street. I was a little nervous as it's been a very long time since my last colouring and I wanted to go somewhere a little special. With my initial consultation with Eelize I wanted balayage and she'd recommended complementary colours that I wanted for my very dark brunette.
I was put at ease straight away and had complete confidence in Eelize. My hair looks natural with highlighs, healthier and I love the cut and blow dry. I almost didn't recognise myself from the transformation. This has been a long overdue treat for myself and I'd like to thank the rest of the team too, for looking after me.

Had an appointment with Arti when in a grumpy mood.
She puts the Arti in Artist and as far as I'm concerned after listening to all my moaning, she can put the 'st' in front of her name too. St Arti you're an artist and the hair is still looking and feeling better than ever. Thank you!

Having decided to have a lot of hair cut off due to it thinning because of stress, I researched hairdressers and was told by a friend that Barrie Steven's was a reputable place to go to. I booked a consultation with Sophie at the Anstey salon and went with lots of examples of the colour and cut that I wanted. She seemed to understand what I wanted and this gave me the confidence to book the appointment.
During the actual appointment, I again showed her the style and colour that I had decided on. She proceeded to cut the hair and was taking far too much off, being really slapdash and just chopping it into a style that was nothing like the picture I had shown her. Then it came to the colour. She put a dark grey colour on, that ended up really dark and dull, not the "ice blonde" that I had asked for. She also told me that I would need a toner on it every two weeks, which she had not even mentioned before at the consultation or before the colour went on.
When I made it clear that I was not happy with the grey that she had used, she then heavily persuaded me to go for a much darker colour, ( auburn!!), which I did not want but felt I was pressured into.
Having left the salon I was simply devastated, really upset and so were my close friends and family. I made an appointment to go back to have things rectified but frankly, I did not want to set foot back in that salon having lost all confidence in not only them, but myself, so I cancelled the appointment. I decided to simply wait for it to grow out and have to live with it...but unhappily.
My friend was really angry that I had been treated like this and she went to complain on my behalf, as I just couldn't face the "agro". She was treated with an aggressive and arrogant attitude by the manager who took no accountability for the poor results that I had. He came back with lots of excuses and there was no attempt to say "sorry" or be in any way sympathetic. This is really bad customer care, whether it was the actual customer or someone on her behalf.
My friend felt really attacked and insisted that it was taken further, to Barrie Stephen himself. She was told that Barrie would simply agree with Neil the manager as he had known him for 20 years. However, he did say he would pass on the complaint.
I was then called by Sharon, ( the general manager). She was very helpful, polite and proactive in arranging an appointment at a DIFFERENT salon, the next day, with Elise (sp?) at King Street in Leicester, to rectify the whole mess.
Elise was great. She listened, was very understanding and she gave me confidence that I was in good hands...at last. The resulting colour was so much better. I will go back to Elise when the cut has grown to have it restyled for my complimentary follow up appointment. However, neither I nor my friend would ever go to the Anstey salon which we both thought was unfriendly, unhelpful and unprofessional in their dealings with a really upset customer.

Talking to Barrie in the gym and always wanted platinum hair. Barrie reassured me that it would look good and booked me in with Diane. From the moment I walked into the salon, I was made to feel at ease and had a great experience. I love my hair. Thanks so much!

Eelize is a great stylist she gives good advice and tailors to your personal style and colour. She is very helpful and accommodating. Me and my daughter are very pleased with our experiences.

Evie from Ashby branch did an incredible job with my daughter Leila's haircut! Her attention to detail and skill were outstanding. Leila left the salon feeling confident and happy with her fresh, stylish look. Evie was patient, listened to exactly what she wanted, and made the entire experience enjoyable. 10 out of 10!! I wouldn’t go anywhere else. The staff are super friendly. I have Afro hair and it was in quite a bad way. Eelize bleached half of my hair at my request and somehow transformed my hair even healthier after 2 bleach sessions! Amazing! Xox

I always have the best experience at Barrie Stephen Leicester and being well taken care of by Vitalija. This is the first stylist that I can fully trust with my hair. The cut and styling always meet my expectations and she always chooses the right products for my hair type. Thanks to her I always leave the salon with not only a great cut but also voluminous and smooth hair without the greasy effect I used to have at other salons. Thank you!

I have now come to Barrie Stephen a couple times now and i have my hair done by Arti the Manager and wow! she has the most passion in her work, I’ve never experienced anything like it! not only does she explain detail even though I’m a regular but she always makes me feel so special each time. She is an amazing person with so much care and her service to not just myself but without a doubt also checks to make sure everyone in the salon are taken good care of is just incredible. What I see in her professionalism is her drive and wanting to perfect the finer detail not just through her work but around her as well. What a fabulous Manager & Stylist! Love her work, absolutely worth booking she is amazing!

I’ve been using Barrie Stephen for around 8 years now and have been to King Street, Anstey and Ashby. I have always had great customer service and a relaxing experience whenever I’ve been. For the last 3 years, I’ve been going to Deanna in Ashby! She is the loveliest lady who will really help and make recommendations to keep my hair looking the best it can. She’s stained her bare hands bright pink for me before (to make sure the toner really was everywhere!) and she’s taken me from a full head bleach (which of course meant some damage) to healthy, growing! and wonderful hair. Deanna goes above and beyond, when I got engaged she was within the first 10 people to congratulate me on my post through her hair page, she remembers specific things about myself and as a hospitality manager, I know these things are important in customer service; she does it well!! I couldn’t be more happy with my hair and Deanna has helped me get it to where I want it and has kept it that way. I love going to get my hair done and having a lovely person to talk to whilst it’s happening is such a plus.

Have been going to Kings St for over 8 years. Everyone at the salon is always cheerful and welcoming, making it an uplifting experience. The care taken over the condition and cut of my hair has always been second to none. Fully recommend.

I implicitly trust Vitalija and other hairdressers I’ve had, such as Ella, to listen to what I would like and use their professional judgement to give me the best service each time.
