Boot Camp review
I want to be clear this is specifically about the Boot Camp program, not BaseLang as a whole. I actually like the concept behind Boot Camp and think it makes a lot of sense, but the execution and standards weren’t consistent in my experience.
For the first 4.5 weeks, my professor barely spoke to me in Spanish. There wasn’t much real conversation or even attempts at it. It was mostly reading, fill in the blank, and grammar work, and he just wasn’t very engaged. I realized I wasn’t improving much, and since I’m living in a Spanish speaking country, I knew something needed to change. I emailed the Boot Camp team, explained my experience, and they switched my teacher pretty quickly.
My second teacher was definitely better. We spoke a lot more, and I think I would have made significantly more progress if I had her from the beginning. That’s why I think the program could be really good, but it needs stronger training and clearer standards to make sure it’s run the way it’s intended. It’s supposed to be conversational and in the first half of the Boot Camp that just wasn’t my experience.
I started at level 1 and I’m around level 3 now, so there was some improvement. I may meet BaseLang’s definition of conversational, but I can’t confidently hold a real conversation in the actual world yet.
The program is also mentally draining, even doing the semi intensive version. Based on my experience and results, I wouldn’t personally recommend Boot Camp, but I can see how it might work better for others. I’ve also heard a lot of good things about their other programs, like Real World, which I’ll be switching to now.
They are honest in their instructions…
They are honest in their instructions and in their explanation of what to expect. They said clearly it takes time to find instructors you like and succeed with. They said language learning is a process for most people and worth the investment of time it takes, they are correct about that. Their system of stressing speaking the language is working well for me. After many frustrating attempts at learning Spanish over many years, I feel I am succeeding with this program.
Confidently conversational in 3 years
I have been doing Baselang for 3+ years. I am confidently conversational (not fluent at all) in Spanish (I started with nothing having taken French 40+ years ago). In fact, I just got back from a 2-week semi-immersion trip to Mexico and I pretty much only used Spanish during the whole trip (except, some English with my travel partners). I do still make a ton of mistakes and my vocabulary is growing, which my teachers help me with. I tend to do mostly conversation classes, which is useful for learning, but also keeps the learning fresh. I could probably make more progress if I followed the curriculum more, but for me, this is a hobby and languages have never been easy for me (I'm more of a math person). The teachers are all great and I feel like several are now my friends. Baselang is also very easy to use and the website and scheduling couldn't be easier. I highly recommend.

Baselang is a game changer in terms of improving your Spanish. Still can’t believe this product exists - I get to speak every day whenever I feel like it
An incredible option and value for serious learners
My teacher is Ms Maritza. I am loving my time with her! I ask her A LOT of questions and she always takes the time to answer thoroughly. I ended up in the boot camp class because I originally wanted to study abroad - it would be the only way for me to actually learn the right way. This program seemed to be the best alternative because I did not have the means to leave home to study Spanish. So essentially I was looking for the best alternative to a study abroad program... And this is indeed exactly what I needed! Highly recommend for serious learners!
Baselang is working for me
The online platform and curriculum is very solid. The number of teachers and ability to schedule around my daily routine is why Baselang works well for me.

Stephanie Michelle is an excellent teacher ! She speaks very clearly and has a great personality for teaching because she is not boring. She seems to really enjoy her job which is wonderful.
Nothing to fault
I've never had a bad instructor, and I've tried at least 30 of their 300 or so. Staff are almost always available even on short notice. Quality website and lessons. Customer service is also great.
Instructors are very pleasant
Instructors are very pleasant, easy to talk with, and helpful with grammar, sentance structure. They can talk about anything that interests you and they all make classes fun.
Unlimited One on One Tutoring
The one on one lessons are great. Many of the teachers are very good, some are not great, but you have to try it and see that works for you. I think the course content could be updated. Some of the exercises are a little confusing, but overall I think it's a great system. I do also wish there were some Spain based, Spanish speakers. Everyone is from Latin America, and the ones that can, help with Castillian Spanish, but some are not knowledgeable about it.

Amazing app
Amazing app! It's basically Uber for learning Spanish. High quality, friendly, and patient teachers in short notice
Great value
I've been using BaseLang for a few weeks and I've had a great experience. My favorite part is the calendar flexibility and availability of teachers. It's so easy to book (or cancel) classes at any time. I basically take a class whenever I have free time instead of wasting time on my phone.
There are a wide range of teachers to choose from. Some teachers are better at "teaching" than others, but all have been pleasant and patient.
the availability of instructors everyday

My best experience is that I can talk ( use my mouth, because is very important !) to real persons without shame or unpleasant experience, because they are very helpful and they have enough patiente with me. And I enjoy the differentes pronunciacions too, and sometimes I choose intentionally no English speaker teacher . And furthermore what's very good for me, that I can have these lessons every day and I can pick the time that suits me best.
