Peter Betteridge 'Your Bed Expert' Reviews 

We live in Sheffield and bought our mattresses online from the Kingsbridge branch. I had done a lot of research in shops and online but felt Peter Betteridge were offering the best deal I could find. Because it was a really big purchase and I wasn’t going to be able to test things out in person, I felt a bit nervous. But because of all the very positive reviews I thought it was worth a try. I have to say, it was the best online experience I have ever had. Steve took the call and was incredibly helpful, proactive and patient. It was immediately obvious that he had an expertise that I hadn’t found in any of the large chains or department stores I had been in. He had a close understanding of their suppliers. I took a couple of days making the decision and came back with various questions which Steve took all the time I needed to answer. He gave me detail and comparisons to help with the decision. I bought two mattresses which we are delighted with, and feel like they are a great investment for the future. The delivery charge was very reasonable, given the huge distance, and the delivery company, Empire, were equally excellent in their customer service. My purchase came about because of a significant problem that developed with a leading department store. That turned into my benefit, now that I have found a family business with great expertise who, in turn, have their own smaller craft suppliers. I am certain I now have much higher quality mattresses. An excellent experience from start to finish.

We have received excellent service and advice from Peter Betteridge in Honiton who helped us choose a Sherbourne suite of furniture. My husband is very tall and can suffer back discomfort. All this was taken into account. David and all the staff just wanted to help us make the right choice for us. Delivery was amazing, great comms along the way. Thoroughly recommend this team. As we purchased in a special offer time, we were able to indulge in William Morris curtains and a new duvet as 10% freebies of the cost of our suite. Perfect. You will not be disappointed and all local.

Extremely helpful professional service from the start of our purchase to delivery .We recently bought 2 Alston sofas. I really liked the style but initially found it hard to settle on an appropriate fabric. We had great help in pursuing this & we were happy to place our order in complete confidence. Waiting times were well explained and reasonable & delivery was excellent.

I purchased a new bed from the Honiton store it was delivered on time and assembled perfect job I am very pleased with my new bed I purchased other bad linen products at the same time and they all arrived to gather the staff are very polite and efficient and always welcoming

Always professional & very helpful. All emails answered quickly. Always happy to help and the goods are dispatched quickly. The prices are very competitive and they have a vast range of quality bedding home wares and towels / sheets / sets are all excellent quality and well packed with minimum fuss. I live nowhere near but would choose them as my first choice for duvet sets and those essential items which make up your home No hesitation.

We needed a speedy bed replacement and Fabian was very helpful in showing us all of the bed base and mattress choices which would be available for a quick delivery.
Two days later two very cheerful and helpful delivery men arrived and tried very hard, successfully, to carry a heavy king size mattress up a tight squeeze into an attic bedroom.
We were very impressed with the whole experience and also delighted with our new bed base and mattress.

Absolutely love my new sleepeezee mattress from Peter Betteridge. I was given great advice when choosing, then kept well informed about the delivery and the guys that delivered were cheerful and professional, having to lift it up 3 flights of stairs. Can’t speak highly enough of the great service I received.

Another great purchase from Peter Betteridge and I am absolutely delighted with my new Sleepeeze mattress. The weather was horrendous (driving rain and wind!) but the delivery team were extremely courteous and professional and within 10 minutes they had removed the old one, moved my existing one to the guest room and installed the lovely new one in my bedroom.
I have never had a bad experience with the company in over 30 years and this is why I continue to be a loyal customer.
A follow-up email from Fabian arrived a few days later, to make sure that I was entirely happy with everything. 10/10 again from a very happy customer. Good, old fashioned service from a local company you can rely on for quality and service.

Purchased new mattress/divan & headboard. We visited the Kingsbridge shop several times to try out and narrow down which mattress suited us and were given lots of help from staff, but especially Steve, who was very patient with my questions and visits!
The delivery and set up of the bed was efficient and we couldn't be happier with our choice of bed. We also bought new bedding and a wool mattress topper, which is really comfortable.
Definitely recommend Peter Betteridge and it's great to buy locally.

Update:
Almost immediately after I posted a fairly damning review (below), Peter Betteridge contacted me to see if our concerns could be resolved. The upshot is that they offered to replace the mattress with an alternative of our choice (up to the same value). We have chosen a different mattress which we have just received, so fingers crossed. The new one was significantly cheaper so the shop has given us a credit for the difference. I did ask for a refund, but they would not agree to that as in their view the mattress was not faulty and they see this as a ‘comfort’ issue, with their offer of a replacement being a gesture of goodwill. We are very pleased to have a new mattress. But we are disappointed with the shop’s, and presumably Vispring’s refusal to accept that the original mattress was sub-standard and the fact that it took a damning review to get some action. I have upgraded the rating to 3 stars to reflect these comments.
Original comments:
We bought a small super king Vispring Shetland mattress in mid 2023, thinking that spending more on a supposedly high quality mattress would be worthwhile. We were also keen to buy a locally manufactured product. What a costly mistake it has proved to be. From early on, a very significant lump appeared in the middle from top to bottom with big dips either side where we sleep. It became very uncomfortable , leaving me with even more back pain than I had to start with. The unevenness is incredibly marked. The shop arranged for Vispring to carry out a check which eventually happened after a bit of a delay. The chap who visited conducted a fairly Heath Robinson check with a piece of string to measure the depth of the unevenness. Surprise surprise the measurement was a tiny bit below their ‘tolerance’ level and therefore pronounced to be normal settlement. We were told it would get better over time and to keep turning the mattress which we did. After some months there was no change so we contacted the shop and went through another Vispring check, with exactly the same result. 18 months after we bought the mattress we have come to the conclusion we will have to throw it away, and buy another new mattress. Words cannot express how disappointed we are. The shop have hidden behind Vispring and have taken no responsibility, and there seems no way of getting anywhere with Vispring.

Great service Prompt delivery well packaged and all items needed were available at great prices.
Informed of the progress of the order throughout and can highly recommend them as a reliable professional online retailer ( sadly too far away to go in store ) but the service and items are great Thank you
