Rasistic bastards, they stolen money that pay on legal way, funny is that we have proof. Bye bye bastards
I called the Belastingdienst twice so far and both times I was redirected to the English department. The people I spoken with were nothing but helpful, friendly, incredibly polite and full with positive energy. I ended both calls feeling way more sure about what I was calling for and feeling heard and helped.
If you speak Dutch they probably just suck to deal with.
If you do not speak Dutch, be prepared, as an expat, they will do everything they can to scam you.
Because they have an impossible website to deal with from the 80s (I suspect on purpose to make it easier to make mistakes), I did not risk it and hired an accountant to deal with my yearly taxes.
Everything went well for 2018, 2019 (you think!), 2020, 2021, etc.
Then in 2022 they send me a letter sayign that in fact, some random anonymous incompetent controller decided that instead of receiving 600 euros of tax back, I in fact need to pay 4500 euros to them as soon as possible.
I contacted my accountant, sent some letters asking for deferral and another check, explaining they did an obvious mistake.
They then sent me one letter confirming they received my request and they would follow up.
A few months later, checking on their stupid site, I see no update in this regards, and it still wants 4500 euros , plus some extra as a late fee.
I called them again, and was told the same BS, saying I need to wait and wait and wait again.
Repeat the exact same in 2023, calling them to have somebody saying I should not pay while the site still says otherwise. I asked for them to send a written proof, which they refused of course.
A few days ago, new snailmail letter from the post, they want 4700 euros now because of the lateness.
So back on the phone as usual (I dont know how much I spent on their stupid support line over they years to deal with their mistake, but what a joke)
On the phone after insulting them all and threatening to sue as necessary if you want to obtain any kind of result, the guy explains 'actually this was cross post, you will receive another letter when we send it, and now you ow us only 54 euros.
The audacity after 4 years of this masquerade, they are still wrong, but I will end up paying because it is still cheaper than keep calling them.
Any decent administration or company even would not have the audacity of sending a n invoice for 54 euros after 4 years of fight. Instead any decent organization would send an apology letter instead for all the trouble they caused.
I explained on the phone that I spent WAY more than 54 euros to call them continually for 4 years for their mistake.
I cant wait for next year when they decide to ask for 4000 euros again. Buch of scammers they are, the more honest you are the more you get penalized. I really wish I had never declared any of my activities in this terrible country. I cant wait to leave.
De box 3 heffing over spaarcenten is pure diefstal
Schaamteloos!!!
It is today June 22nd and we have been trying to change bank account with our new bank account in UK since we need to get back some money. Since Febrary we have been finally contacted and they say they have difficulties sending money to our uk account... They are the only entity having problems with UK bank account since we have received other payments from abroad and in Euro. This issue is becoming a joke... Since February and i do not know how much we spent in tracked letters and telephone calls... finally last wek we got a call, nothing is solved... what a shame.
You try to call the customer service for 5 days in a row, all the times it says that the pipeline is already full and the call is automatically ended.
P.S. they need to return me 550 EUR in taxes that sneakily they deducted from my previous salaries.
Disgusted
there is no experience because the phone has hours of waiting and on social media (the newest most stupid way to take care of anything, specially such private matters) no one replies, ever. you cannot even send a message, you have to leave a comment and pray that someone sees it. I'm living in NL for more than 6 years and it seems to be going worse. really bad service. ah and when you go to the counter expect rudeness from most of the employees. really a s****y service, pardon my french. i have been trying for 2 months now to reach them on social media because no one has time to wait hours on the phone, unless you don't work etc. and nothing, nickkles, zilch. no one replies! te-rri-ble.
and the worse is if I get a letter from you I must act right away but when I need help in order to not get my life more difficult you seem to be on vacation. how nice it must be to work for the NL government.
STOP DISCRIMINATION BELASTINGDIENST. I've been trying to get my taxes from 2018, from now 2 years ago. First time i was rejected, so Duch belastingdienst don't want to give to me my taxes back. I make again the request for that year, but second time they decide to put me to pay back to them 258 euro. I call them and i ask what is going on. Because in 2018 i live in Belgium and i recover my taxes fast and easy from 2019 when i live in Germany. Oficial answer of Belastingdienst it's very confuse, they are trying as much as possible to take money from us, the people ho are not Duch. We are not treated in the same way like the Duch people. SO, I WANT TO ASK, STOP DISCRIMINATION BELASTINGDIENST
Everything is digital, all questions can be answered online. Really modern institute. I had an issue with one of my declarations and they helped me on a Mondaymorning within 5 mins. My experience was really perfect.
The worst Tax Office I have ever had encounter with. They literally stole my money in taxes, keep it on their account although I have full right to get it back, and when I get it back I receive 0, NULL in interest. 3 years it took them to refund money overpaid in taxes and it wasn't without struggle. They did everything in their power not to return my lawfully due money. Terrible experience. I always had the Netherlands for a country of law, human rights and equal treatment. It does not seem this way to me anymore
The tax collectors in Holland are the worst they will literally tear your life apart and if you are to make any repayments back to them they will only give you a maximum of two years to it back...as if everybody can pay a certain amount back in 2 years! It's a total disgrace they dont the give a sh*it about any citizen in this country and want to just want you to empty your pockets and continuing paying their taxes....very unreasonable taxes! This makes Holland a disaster to live in and plus they especially don't like informing people of new policies that come into play in whether you have to pay more or less, every year there's a change but no one is kept informed you have to fend for yourself! Its total nonsense and the biggest scam on the planet!
The worst service in the word. For non Dutch, they turn your life to a misary, they had enormous time of processing their goal is to deacourrage you. AWRFUL this DUTCH tax authorities, they do politics not human service
They simply hate non Dutch nationals, they will hang up calls on you make you wait, lie in letters, cause you debts and so on, they will ensure to make your life hard. Just look at the scandals that occurred there due to discrimination, 2021 and the racists are still thriving.
Over 1 hour on the phone, they can't answer simple questions, deny me communication via email, and insist I should write them a letter the old fashion way. Even though on their website it clearly state the customer has a right to have communications digitally. But they want you to struggle with the language.
In the country with so many expats and with such a high taxes, they can not make sure that tax payers get professional service in English language. Everytime I call, answer on my question is "I dont know" or something mixed in English and Dutch...
For a non-Dutch speaker, having to do with the Belanstingdienst can be very hard. Other than a simplified version of their full website which mainly contains general information, there is very little if nothing at all a user can actually do in English. Funny thing is the "Mij Belanstingdienst" which is basically your personal account with them allowing you access to your profile and take actions, like filing a Tax Return on line for instance, has a log in page in English, but then once you're in everything is in Dutch only (?!?). Let's say I would have preferred the opposite as can perhaps manage to enter an ID and password in another language but then need English to operate LOL.
Also, if the website all in all gives simplified but pretty much clear information in English, the Helpline in English for non-resident is a joke, operators speak a very poor English and struggle to express themselves or provide any piece of information, don't even try..weren't the Dutch the best in English in EU after UK and Ireland? So disappointing that a service which is meant to assist foreigners is so poor!
This is the worst experience genuinely of my life. I have never ever ever ever ever dealt with such an horrendous corporation, I literally wanted to scream about 20 times.
So, I moved to the Netherlands in Sept 2019, I wanted to work in hospitality so I heard about a app called temper which friend has recommended to me. For temper I was asked whether or not I would like to have a freelancing account, This would require me to pay my own taxes. And hold that I would not have a name under the Chamber of Commerce.
Four months later, I wanted to apply for a extension on my tax. This was my first encounter with the Belastingdienst.
When I first called up I was on hold 10 minutesAnd then spent to someone who I gave all my details toAnd they told me that they were unable to help me and I would then be put on hold again. I was then put on hold for a further 10 minutesAnd then a man out of the blue said 'hello'. By this point I was very annoyed and disgruntled As I order waited20 minutes to speak to someone. This man did not have any informationAnd I had to repeat everything out of the first man.
Once I had asked him all about how to pay tax at a later date he informed me that I Should allow the tax dates to pass and I would receive a fine in the post €50. After this fine I should call them up ASAP and ask the extension of four months. This seemed very odd to me and I asked for him to give me 100% clarity that this truly was the advice that he would give people as it seemed quite dodgy. He confirmed that this was the advice that I should take and to wait for that letter to arrive.
Three weeks passed, and no letter had arrived and so I called to ask when it would and i was told that I should continue to wait. Finally a letter arrived and what I opened up was a €5000 fine, plus a 150 euros fine, plus a 65 euro fine. I absolutely hit the roof. I could not believe it and started to cry immediately. This was the worst experience I've ever had and I immediately called up the Belastingdienst. Again I was put on hold for 10 minutes then a further 10 minutes, When I finally spoke to learn and he confirmedThat I have not paid and said this was the estimation of the fine. I was in pieces. Not only did I tell him that I have been given assurance from his colleague that this would not happen and that I would be given a fair amount of time to complain about the fine but also he told me he could not vouch for anyone giving advice and it seemed very odd. He refused to let me explain my situation any further and asked that I pay the fine of 65 and 50 euros. I asked him where I would need to pay this amount and he gave me a bank account with the payment reference number. I had never heard of a Tax Authority giving out account numbers as a way for them to receive payments- this seemed like such a scam. I then proceeded to ask him How I would pay the tax of 528 and he asked for me to do the same to send it to the bank account. A BANK ACCOUNT!! Thats it, not a formal way in any sense of the word...just a bloody bank account. Honestly, I wanted to scream. So then I asked At what point would I find out if Transfer has been excepted and he told me that I would receive a letter in opposing the next 2 to 3 weeks, by which point I could have a new fine. Honestly, all I can say is this is the worst company/ governmental body I have ever dealt with...just the worst. if you can, stay as far away from them as possible. awful awful awful....
I have already received 4 months huurtoeslagen, now I got a letter saying it is cancelled and I must repay the money?! Do you know what this is like for a student?? You are supposed to support the people, not put us in more debt... How can you give the money without being 100% sure... very incompetent organization
