We booked Hendy Lago(via Booking .com)managed by Best of Wales, for Christmas to stay with four families. The full amount was paid and the booking was confirmed. The property description clearly stated that a barbecue area was available.
Two weeks later, when we contacted them via the booking platform to ask whether the barbecue would be available (as it was out of season), we were informed that our reservation no longer existed because the property had been booked on another platform (holidaycottages.co.uk).
Customer service later confirmed this was an overbooking. They attempted to find an alternative but nothing comparable was available, especially so close to Christmas. All prices had increased and we were left with no suitable option, effectively ruining our Christmas plans.
We received no prior notification of the cancellation and only discovered the issue because we contacted them ourselves. Being told we should be grateful for a full refund within 14 days was extremely frustrating given the stress, disappointment, and inconvenience caused.
Very poor communication and unprofessional handling. I would not recommend Best of Wales if you need reliable bookings for important occasions.

Disappointing and Unprofessional Booking Experience
I had a very frustrating experience with Best of Wales regarding their Hendy Lago property. After completing a booking in good faith, my reservation was later cancelled because the property had been double-booked on two different platforms.
This situation should never happen with proper management systems in place. The cancellation caused unnecessary stress and inconvenience, especially as accommodation plans were already made. There was no meaningful effort to offer a comparable alternative or take responsibility for the mistake.
A “Best of Wales” property should reflect a high standard of professionalism and reliability, but unfortunately this experience fell far short. I would be very cautious booking through this company, as confirmed reservations clearly do not guarantee availability.

Had to cancel at short notice due to ill health. Needed a Cancellation Notice for insurance and a refund of the accidental damage monies. Phones never answered, emails replied to every 2 days with the answer ‘The Cancellation team are processing…’
Really poor administration which puts me off using them again.

Very clean and comfortable cottage with amazing views.
Fully enclosed garden for dogs and great location for walks in the forest.

Great cottage in a great location. It was really simple to book and the communication after booking was very useful providing updates and information as our holiday date approached making it a stress free experience. Will definitely use again.

A warm welcome on arrival by the owners, the cottage was beautiful and spotless. Warm, cosy and everything you could possibly need. Layout and grounds are fabulous, especially if you have a dog. We went out and about every day and the cottage was lovely to come home too. We loved the location and we will definitely return. Thank you

easy company to deal with and very communicative

We booked Ysgubor Newydd through Original Cottages, who we've used before on a number of occasions. Information is accurate & clear and we are kept informed about the booking details before going.

Lovely stay, beautiful peaceful quiet area, nothing or nobody bothered us.
Such a pretty cottage and lovely hot tub.
The owner was amazing.

Crud Y Wennol was delightful. It was off the main road (not well sign posted so glad I had a sat nav) but easily accessible with good parking.

The cottage itself was a lovely size, well cleaned, plenty of amenities and all working well. The cottage is designed for 2 people and 1 dog. I was there by myself with my dog. I would say the sofa in the living room a quote small so many struggle for 2 adults to sit together comfortably. The double bed, although extremely comfy, was also on the small side so 2 tall/large adults would struggle to sleep comfortably

The bathroom was lovely, well cleaned and towels provided were fluffy and soft

I did not use the kitchen other than for toast but the drawers were well stocked with utensils, the fridge/freezer was a good size and microwave, toaster and kettle were in good condition and clean

Garden was a lovely size with a beautiful view. Only issue is you have to go out the front door and go around the side to access it...not ideal to let the dog out for a wee if it is chucking it down with rain or dark.

Absolutely wonderful place to stay, perfect location, spotlessly clean, hot tub superb. Top quality bedding, kitchen equipment, towels, everything you need for lovely holiday. Will definitely be back next year.

Easy navigable website and good information on each property. Customer support was excellent as were the emails/texts regarding the booking etc.

Quality of accommodation very good. The owners were happy for us to charge the electric car. We asked in advance and promised to let them know how much electricity we used charging and leave them the money to cover the cost.

So far we have booked four cottages through this company. All have been very comfortable with lovely comfy beds and furniture and equipment of a high standard. Will continue to choose cottages with this company.

Lovely well equpped big house in a perfect setting. Close to many interesting places to visit.

Location was a building site. Enclosed garden had no gates, so not safe for children or dogs.
Peoples coming and going at all times, day and night.
Should have been told before going this was the case. We could have cancelled. When we told the booking agent the owners said we’d been informed and was happy.
Agents are wiping their hand with it. Our word against theirs. Surely they realise nobody would go on holiday to a building site. I would of cancelled.

The property was really run down and tired, there is so much work needed to get the property to a better standard. They really could do with a decent cleaner, I went out and purchased cleaning products so we could use the bathroom and sink, however the staff very friendly and the views spectacular.
