Awful

Awful. I would not recommend. We stayed at the Buchanan Arms in Drymen, Scotland. Tired old decor. We had problems ordering breakfast, it took ages to get seated, then we had to wait nearly 25 to get someone to take our order, I had to ask eventually. My mum is diabetic and had taken an insulin injection so had to eat within 30 mins. The breakfast was poor. I am vegan and asked what was vegan, to be told nothing. I asked for porridge but told there was none, in. Scottish hotel??? I asked for a manager who got me porridge. I was offered berries, most of which were mouldy. There was no vegan breakfast option. Poor service, standards and choice.

A memorable event

We celebrated my 90th birthday at the Royal Chase Hotel, Shaftesbury, Dorset on 28th September and want to record our gratitude for the way in which the hotel hosted it. The room was beautifully decorated, the food (a vegetarian buffet) imaginative and wide-ranging. Mandy and her team did everything they could to make the occasion memorable - nothing was too much trouble and the pre-planning was a pleasure. There were about 80 guests and there were very many expressions of admiration and gratitude for the hotel's hospitality.

Avoid Avoid Avoid, terrible experience…

Firstly Zero stars is not an option available, otherwise it would be Zero.

Please, please, please think twice before booking a room through the best western website.

We booked and paid for a Hotel room in Bournemouth for one night, received all confirmation emails etc, all correct. Drove for 100miles on the day only to be told on arrival the hotel had not received the booking and had no record of our reservation. Then proceeded to tell us there were no rooms, and had been fully booked for a while. They said it was down to Best Western to sort, not hotel. Had to spend next 2 hours finding accommodation, which we had to pay again for, which ruined plans we had. Best western are still to respond !!!
Terrible experience, no customer service phone number.
Do yourself a favour and book elsewhere, so many better options out there now.
Avoid

I’ll mention the safety aspect first…

I’ll mention the safety aspect first fire doors with “keep closed on” propped open!
Absolutely disgusting, not been cleaned properly, mould in the bathroom and won’t even mention the carpet that should have been thrown out 10 years ago.
Woken up numerous times by loud guest all night.
Would not recommend or stay ever again!

The South Eglinton Arms Hotel, Glasgow

The South Eglinton Arms Hotel, Glasgow, proved itself as a great place to stay. The hotel was brilliant and the village of Eaglesham was beautiful! The rooms were comfortable and clean. The staff were amazing and couldn’t have been more helpful, polite and accommodating. The reception staff were always on hand to give advice and help. The kitchen and waiting staff were cheerful (even early in the morning) and nothing was too much trouble. The food was delicious – with great menu choices, all beautifully cooked. (And they even cooked a meal for us when we arrived very, very late on check-in day!) The room cleaners were cheery and upbeat, full of local knowledge and always happy to recommend places to visit. The night porter, George, was a constant source of kindness, and reassurance that he was keeping us all safe on his watch. In my time spent in Eaglesham village, I met many wonderful, friendly and interesting people.

disabled discrimination

I stayed with them at their heathrow and paid for my parking. ten days later I have recieved a parking fine. I phoned their reception who were totally disinterested. I stayed with an able bodied friend who has not got a ticket {I am disabled and have a blue badge} and consider their actions as discrimination

Ipswich Best Western Avoid.

The hotel allegedly had been refurbished after being used by immigrants, the room smelt, no air conditioning, no lift, window wouldn’t open, black mould around bath. Avoid the Best Western at Ipswich. Incorrectly titled as Best.

Stayed in Dover hotel they charge you twice for the room

Stayed in Dover hotel
The hotel itself was pleasant enough
Reception was madness and staff poorly trained
They insisted on taking another payment despite us already paying in the App
Then were charged twice … contact the call centre .. call the hotel
On hold for ages .. someone will look into it and call you no one does

Eventually told it was refunded yesterday … see if they actually do refund me

Castle Bromwich Hall Hotel

Castle Bromwich Hall Hotel. Myself and my colleagues stay here regularly and until now have had no complaints at all. Until tonight 21st August 24, at 10 pm whilst a n Asian wedding of many taking place took a turn for the worst. I was lying in bed when I heard several people shouting outside my room, I ignored it. That was until they started kicking my door in along with a gentleman next door. I ran to the door in a t shirt and boxers to confront what had happened only to find they had fled and I was locked out. First of all thanks to the Man next door who went to reception and got me another key. Suffice to say I wont be staying here again.
Not a single explanation or apology from anyone at the Hotel and no duty manager avaliable to give me an explanation even after leaving my number ??

Best western more place, Milton keys GB

Stayed at this hotel for 3 night. Booked a family suite with a sofa bed. As we checked in online, Upon arrival we asked if the sofa bed was made up, we was informed it was not made and could not be made until the next morning. We was asked if the rooms wanted to be clean we said yes every day (which should be done regardless) why ask. The room did not get clean for two days the third day they finally came and asked if we wanted it cleaned as we only had one day left we said no as we did everything ourselves. Upon entering the room we found hair in the bathroom upon entering the room. The curtains were dirty I have video of everything. when we opened the sofa bed to make it ourselves instead of waiting until the morning was kindly given sheet not sure if they was used or not as we only got the top sheet. There was crumbs stuck to the sofa bed, underneath the bed had more, was not going to sleep on it after seeing it dirty. There was Socks and more rubbish under. we had to ask for sugar and tea every day which is complementary nothing was brought to the room of Topped up, we had to go tissue and we had to change our own bins. The only good thing was the staff was polite however I felt like I was at a air bnb instead of a hotel for that price they should of done better with the room
Cleannesses and house keeping one light did not work.

Walworth Castle Hotel, Darlington

My 16 year old daughter aced her interview at Walworth Castle Hotel near Darlington recently.

Initially the Management were great, but then bullying behaviour was noticed.

She was employed as waiting and serving staff and was complimented many times on her manner and ability.

My daughter started with tendonitis and, as such, didn't complain nor ask for a reduction in duties, instead she bought a splint which allowed her to carry on plus arranged to see a Dr to get the condition treated.

The Manager then decided to hide her away in the kitchen as, in her words, the splint looked unsightly and affected the Castle's image to Customers.

The Manager didn't know their own job half the time. Giving Staff instructions then disciplining them for doing what she asked because she'd forgotten what she'd told them to do!

My daughter had pushed for an earlier appointment for a scan on her affected arm on a shift where she was only in for 3.5 hours and the Castle was overstaffed anyway

Not long after, the Manager emailed her terminated her contract without even giving her the chance to explain.

He called her a hindrance despite the fact she'd excelled in her role and always put her job first.

To be called a hinderance and then ignore her emails shows how spineless the owners are.

All in all, despite the fact we've stayed at the Castle and attended functions there but we will never visit again, we are so angry at how our daughter was treated, especially as she'd been given more responsibility.

The current Management Team block anyone on their Social Media pages if you dare post a poor review too, cowards.

No response and no call backs

I bought a groupon for the Queens Hotel Chester for afternoon tea, it was a great price, but impossible to redeem. I left messages, emailed, got the call centre to email and try to phone (they couldn't get through to the hotel either), but I was never called back. I had to get a refund on the groupons I bought as they were pointless.

Do not bring your pet to the Liverpool hotel!

Ropewalk in Liverpool

If you don’t mind being next door to night clubs and Loud noice then this place might be for you

Appalling treatment when it comes to bringing your own pet in this establishment. Whilst they state that they will charge you £20 per night per pet , what they fail to tell you is that they will place you in a room where the carpet is already stained with old pee marks and then, without telling you at checkout, they will charge you £75 for a cleaning fee. Good job we took pictures with dates and time on them to prove that the stains they send us via email ,as their proof for the charge ,and we will use those to dispute the charge with our bank to get the money back, Our puppy is only 4 months old and he is a service dog for my mobility scooter user husband and it was trained to only go outside and the stains they send on pictures they clearly belong to a much bigger pet and they were dark orange which means they were not fresh, therefore, unfortunately, they use this technique to scam customers who won’t take pictures before their stay to make extra money on top of the deposit they ask to hold , on top of the pet charge per night and the fact they never tell you at checkout it is very dodgy and unprofessional . We contacted the hotel first but we received no support other than sending us untrue and old pictures. Stay well clear from this hotel if you are a pet owner!

Went to the Pinewood BW in Wilmslow…

Went to the Pinewood BW in Wilmslow Cheshire. 9 months later i find i've got a court letter for parking there. i got no PCNs thru the post prior to this . something the parking people deny (they say they sent it) . obviously i hadn't moved house or changed car.
The hotel employs the parking cowboys , and they have no record of my car registration . i would have provided it had i known it was necessary . i may even have done so , but 9 months (now 11) on it just wasn't possible to remember
i only went for a 6 hour conference organised by the people who i work for. they can't do anything . the hotel is ignoring my requests to put this right .
If you have a choice of hotels for your conference or your stay, avoid this one! BW Pinewood - you WILL get this sorted and get my CCJ CANCELLED or i will take action against YOU

I am writing this at 5:50am because…

I am writing this at 5:50am because this is my third night of interrupted sleep and it's very tedious.Everytime someone goes through the fire doors the side of my room shakes and if I am asleep I wake up.Not what I expect for £100 per night. It's my only complaint but it's serious because I have to make a road journey of just under 500 miles to get home and my driving skills are certainly going to be compromised through lack of sleep.
