Very well equipped gym and friendly staff ( when you see any staff )
But... The machines in the gym are filthy!
Not just a bit dusty because they've been busy, really filthy, I never seen a gym so dirty !!

We drove down from London to visit our…
We drove down from London to visit our grandchildren and took them here for a swim,pool was nice they had fun but when my grandson got to the bottom of the slide he was told by a woman lifeguard not to be making so much noise as he came down absolutely ridiculous in my eyes as it was only a child having fun,also in desperate need of new hairdryers

Maggie made our experience great
Maggie made our experience great. Honestly the best swimming teacher I’ve ever seen. She has done wonders for my daughter’s confidence and swimming ability.

Bude Leisure Centre
I have been a member for around ten years. Staff are always friendly, welcoming and helpful to members old and new. Members cover a range of ages and fitness levels and are also very friendly. The centre is kept clean and tidy.
I regularly access the gym, body conditioning classes and the pool.
Equipment in the gym has been upgraded and added to over recent months.
The pool is always at the correct temperature for swimmers.
The Body Conditioning classes are inclusive of all ages and levels of fitness. Gaynor makes the classes fun and motivating and even though they can be hard work, there is always competition to secure a place for her next class.
The recent addition of an Aqua Aerobics class is an added bonus.
I would echo one of the other reviewers regarding the use of text messages to confirm a space available to any on the waiting list for fitness classes rather than/as well as an email.
One very welcome addition would be air conditioning in the gym and fitness centre.

Did the Body conditioning class with…
Did the Body conditioning class with Gaynor ….as always the class is fun and fully inclusive for people with all levels of fitness . I have been a member of Better Bude for over two years now , and find the centre completely fulfils my fitness needs & from the start has always been welcoming to all abilities . In the two years I have been consistently going my fitness level has greatly improved & that is down to Gaynor motivating me .

I am a new member and have enjoyed the classes I have attended so far. The people I have met have been quite diverse and welcoming.
Your booking system is a little frustrating. If I am on a waiting list and space becomes available you email everyone on the waiting list and whoever books first gets the space. It would be much more fair if whoever is first on the list automatically gets the space and is emailed to confirm their booking. It would also be helpful if you knew where you were on the waitlist i.e. no 1, no 5.
If you keep the current system a text to confirm a space is available would work better as no one checks their email that often or gets notification of emails whereas text are more time efficient.
It also appears that some classes are over subscribed so members are disappointed when they cannot get booked in. Not sure what the answer is but maybe look at your timetable and see if any additional classes can be added. I am talking from a morning point of view as I have not attended any evening classes.

You're absolutely right — clarity and fairness in the process are so important, and we understand how frustrating it can be to miss a spot, especially when you're eager to attend. Your ideas around auto-advancing the waitlist, showing your position in line, and receiving text notifications are all very helpful. We’ll certainly take these into consideration as we look for ways to improve our system.
As for class availability, we're aware that some morning sessions fill up quickly. Our team is actively reviewing the schedule and exploring options to add more classes where possible to meet demand — especially in those high-interest time slots.
