Another extremely poor experience at…
Another extremely poor experience at Birmingham Airport.
After landing, we were left sitting on the aircraft for over 15 minutes because there was nobody available to connect the steps and no buses to take passengers to the terminal. It was particularly frustrating to hear the captain come on and essentially say that this was “just another typical day at Birmingham Airport.”
Even more telling, one of the cabin crew mentioned that he travels extensively around the UK and the world and that Birmingham is, by far, the worst airport he experiences.
Delays and operational problems can happen at any airport, but when such basic issues appear to be routine, it reflects very poorly on the airport’s management and passenger service.
Sadly, once again, Birmingham Airport has delivered a very poor passenger experience. The airport really needs to get its act together.
Just how bad can it actually be
Just how bad can it actually be? Total chaos, poor signage, long queues going through Security. A totally shocking experience.
No smoking after security check in
No smoking after security check in, but still sell tobacco??? Will not travel from here again, toilets were also disgusting.
Worst airport in uk
Worst airport in uk, toilets resembled a third world airport with faeces over seats and over the floor , filthy , no toilet role in mens , all in similar states . Appalling and embarrassing.
Stinky toilets and general unclean vibe across airport and facilities , lack of staffing and poor standards.
Nothing ever seems to be completed
Nothing ever seems to be completed! I agree airports need upgrading and modernising but this airport always has a disruption somewhere in the terminal causing pinch points and disruption.I would like to arrive and be able to proceed to my appropriate area without unnecessary delays. The shuttle bus from car park 7 was absolute disgrace.. dirty exterior and very dirty inside with old gum on floor and a general air of neglect and this was in the morning so no excuse to say it's general daily grime and packaging.
Some staff were great
This isn't really about the airport, but a few members of staff there. I arrived on a domestic flight and stupidly walked out of the secure sector without my suitcase. I found some airport staff, who sent me to check-in area 28. There I used a phone to speak to the luggage people who told me to go back to find a member of the airport staff. I did this only to be told to go back to area 28... and this repeated until eventually one sent me to lost luggage. Andy (I think) at lost luggage was really nice, but also suggested one more try with the airport staff. I went hunting for someone I'd not tried before and spotted two people - one was running the Travel Assist stand. They were both great and although they couldn't get the bag, one took me to someone who could (thank you). Joanne was stood with a friendly police officer... And she was amazing - she sorted it in a few minutes and would hardly accept some grateful thanks from a silly passenger. There are some who didn't seem to want to help, but four and a nice policewoman who really did. Thank you. And to the airport managers, look after these good ones, and encourage the others to be more like them!
3 and half hour delay due to the…
3 and half hour delay due to the airports not having a working luggage transit....3days in!!! Told to go to gate 1-20 then when there told to to to gate 40..other side of the airport. Then get on the plane for 1 hour on the tarmac as the wheels are melted into the tarmac because of where ground staff put the plane. The airport is a disgrace!!! Is there a way to sue them...time there was as irs not the airline they were brilliant its the badly run airport!!!
Avoid this airport if you can...I…
Avoid this airport if you can...I arrived 2 hours before my domestic flight and spent 1 and half hours in the most horrendous queue.....the lifts to departures floor were closed with long queues and staff only letting so many through at a time....reason was upstairs at security was a nightmare! I only made my flight because i asked to be let through....the heat was unbearable. Please allow 3 hours plus if you're flying through this airport.....horrendous.
Security delays, aircon and signage faults continue
Major security delays continue despire press releases claiming otherwise. Staff shortages causing queues even on a Sunday afternoon, hate to imagine the chaos on a Friday or in the morning.
Airconditioning faults continue to affect the majority of the airport, obviously worse in summer.
Faults with the display boards continue, with some missing flights, some switched off, all missing updates on departure times and gates available elsewhere, several at gates only showing adverts.
Good public transport links if you live near by.
Birmingham airport has got to be the…
Birmingham airport has got to be the worst in the world. We travel several times a year and there are always issues. If not the queues, it's baggage issues, bus to terminal waiting, long walks to everywhere (herded past so called duty free) and the sheer cheek of charging an extortionate price for everything. Food being mainly rubbish. Even dropping someone off. It cost me £7 for 5 minutes! Joke.
If you can fly from elsewhere, avoid Birmingham Airport
Must rank as the worst UK Airport. 2 hours from arrival to getting through security. Queues are created on top of queues by staff. All staff working independently rather than a coordinated effort. When asked politely why they are creating an extra queue, staff couldn’t care. Airlines should open check in earlier than 3 hours and you should allow a good 4-5 hours if you want to get refreshments at the end of your two hour journey of under 1/4 mile.
Absolutely shit
Absolutely shit - lost our luggage . bloody awful. Took 4 hours to get through security
Plane was late leaving as baggage was…
Plane was late leaving as baggage was counted incorrectly. To find out there was no extra bag . Mis counted by staff.
Piled onto a bus like cattle on the return flight .Hot and sweaty with all the other passengers.Returning passport control absolutely shocking. 45 mins to get though is the last thing you need after a long flight .absolute Joke .
Having used the airport on several…
Having used the airport on several occasions it is hard to give a positive or average review.
On my most recent visit: The security seem to be a law of their own - clearly discriminating against different people and then when you query something they get aggressive and tell you to get out. On whose authority? On what threat? Just a simple I don’t want you to question me and then try and kick you out.
Aside from the security the airport has poor air conditioning, cramming thousands of people in and creating stewing scenario.
The food courts are dirty and unclean at all times.
Serious overhaul needed to address the never ending carnage that is Birmingham airport travel chaos.
I have submitted this complaint formally - let’s see how the airport respond.
Truly the worst airport in the country
Truly the worst airport in the country. Starting with £7 feet for taxi to drop us off, absolutely terrible people movement system (who on earth would choose to put lifts into an airport?), insufficient seats, massive queues, rude staff. I’m at the point I would far rather travel to East Midlands, Luton, any of the London airports or even drive than add yet another awful experience at BHX to the many I’ve had so far
Pathetic airport
Parking charges are designed to hurt your pocket. Free drop off zone is only free for 10 minutes. No good if it takes 20 minutes to get off the car park as the exit is straight onto a busy roundabout. The multistory car park prices go up every few months.
Been using this airport for over 20 years and every aspect of it leaves me with disappointment and frustration. A pathetic airport for the second largest city in the UK!
This an airport is backward filthy…
This an airport is backward filthy toilets if you can find them. I’ve travelled through several so called third world countries and never experienced shattered airport like Birmingham. Avoid it if you can.
Dire toilets
One word - dire!!
Arriving from Spain sunday afternoon the the toilets around the baggage collection carousels were absolutely disgusting. Urine spilling over the urinals onto the floor, the smell/fumes were overpowering. If I had lit a match I reckon there would have been an explosion. I have been in cleaner public park toilets.
What a shocking welcome to Britain!!

Delayed around two hours due to security not managing effectively.
If I could rate it 0 stars I would
If I could rate it 0 stars I would, walked off the plane to rubbish everywhere… makes me ashamed to call myself English when people visiting our country walked into a shithole like this…
Complete chaos during baggage collection, unorganised and clueless.
