You state that we are too expensive, but you appeared to pay by credit card on your last trade. Credit card transactions simply are expensive, and you can see the large difference in price between card trades and bank transfer trades clearly on the front page.
We get charged a ridiculously large amount by our card providers and have to pass on this charge, but some people still choose to pay by card for the convenience. If you were driven by price beyond everything else, the bank transfer option is what you should have chosen.
For your particular trade, you paid around 411 GBP, which at mid-market rates at the time of about 34,986 GBP per BTC means you essentially got 385 GBP of Bitcoin. That remaining 26 GBP (about 6%) quickly gets gobbled up by:
- Card processor fees (about 4%)
- Exchange fees for arbitrage (about 0.2%)
- FX fees (around 0.1%)
- Bitcoin transaction fees (about 1 GBP)
- Bank fees (around 0.50 GBP)
- Some money we have to make to cover indivisible costs and make a profit (the remainder)
I hope that explains how the pricing works. Next time though, if price is of concern, please use bank transfer as the increase from mid-market rates is typically around 1.5 - 2%.
