Many customers expressed dissatisfaction with the high prices, finding the cost of tickets, food, and other services to be excessive and a rip-off. Reviewers frequently encountered issues with the service, including rides constantly breaking down, long queues, and poor organization, which led to a disappointing visit. The quality of the park was also a concern, with many feeling it was run down, dirty, and lacked upgrades, especially given the high entry fees. By far the worst company to work for…

By far the worst company to work for not only do they not treat staff well they fail to train their staff on what the can and can not do for instance if someone was sent home and went for a drink but wasn’t supposed to was supposed to leave the premises straight away they should make that clear rather than saying we don’t need you in today you can go home they also do not like when you have time off due to your own health problems they complain about wanting to train you on other rides yet keep training you on the ride your signed off on it’s an absolute joke they also pay less than what their staff deserve

Honest Review of BPL Pleasure Beach...

I can talk about this park on two different fronts.

For starters, from a consumer point of view the theme park isn't bad...

I'd say the ticket prices are slightly extortionate for what you get. Some of the food isn't terribly priced either. There is a wide range of attractions from a simple arcade with a mix of modern and old fashioned machines as well as iconic rollercoasters such as the Icon and the Big One which I both absolutely loved. In terms of photographs, those are also quite extortionate AND some of the professional photographers have the same standard of work that I may have, and its just a hobby for me.

Finally, there is the employment and other features within the park.

DO NOT EVER WORK AT BLACKPOOL PLEASURE BEACH. Management is a complete mess.

1. The wages they pay are extremely low so it can be understandable as to why they constantly have staff shortages.
2. There isn't much staff benefit nor care whilst in work particularly for the Ice Rink.
3. Most of the HR staff and the CEO herself have a terrible reputation.

So it's a solid 2/5 for me. There are so many improvements that could be made yet this Park is still iconic and one of my favourites due to some of the brilliant rollercoasters and amusements.

VIP speedy pass not honoured

Edited to increase star rating and reflect that customer service has been in touch and offered more speedy passes to make up for the poor experience the first time round.

I love the rides. That's why I come. That's where the positive experience ends.
Normal queues, whilst advertised as 30 mins wait, are in fact closer to 90 mins wait.
Really - the only way to enjoy this place is to get a speedy pass, ideally the VIP speedy pass. Of course now you're paying double. Ok - no big deal, work with your budget and absorb the hidden cost, I'm happy to do that.
Now - what I then expect from this is a seamless experience. You get nothing of the sort. You can’t use your VIP speedy pass on the app. Why even bother developing an app when it’s not geared up for using all your features? Had to do it through a browser. No biggie, but it all goes to show how bad this place is run. Your app developers ripped you off so now you’re ripping me off to recoupe the cost, eh?! Anyway, moving onto the main reason I am giving one star.

Specifically, I went BPB and paid for the entrance and the VIP speedy pass. Not much change out of £100, but, as stated, I was expecting that.
Towards the end of the day - I booked for one final ride. The app tells me - wait 4 minutes and then head to the ride. I walked while that timer elapsed, and when I got there, the door was closed. I had an exchange with a jobsworth on a power trip - "we close at 9!". I explained that I was able to book the ride, so why not honour it. "no, you're a couple of minutes late" - spoken with a condescending tone and a smirk. I chose not to continue this conversation with this person as he clearly wasn't to be reasoned with. Btw the time was indeed 21:02. However, I clearly booked it around 20:56. The app let me book it and I assumed that meant the VIP pass would be honoured. If that's not the case, then turn off your booking system 5 mins before the ride closes and people will know the ride is closed. It's very simple. The "VIP" bit clearly means nothing. I mean TWO minutes?! We simply got delayed during our walk because there were a lot of people coming off the rides. A little bit of common sense and understanding from your member of staff really wouldn't have gone amiss.
We even paid for a hotel room in Blackpool so that we could come to BPB on one of the late night opening days; just so that we can enjoy the park to the full. So this trip had a considerable cost attached to it.

I also contacted them about this. No response. In case you're reading this, BPB, the only acceptable option here is a full refund, since you ruined our day. That’s ok though, I’ll be going through my credit card company to recoup the cost. Thanks :)

Blackpool pleasure beach refund policy

Blackpool pleasure beach is great however the refund policy is a joke if you prebook.I booked for 5 family members two days prior to going as I was on holiday. It was my sons birthday unfortunately he was very poorly with a sickness bug as well as my other son which meant my partner could not attend as well so I spent £171 pounds for 2 of us to go. The policy is no refunds at all which considering the circumstances isn’t great I would have just taken a trip on a different day if they offered a possible resolution.
A change in the policy wouldn’t hurt so people don’t have to worry about making plans and losing a significant amount of money due to unforeseen circumstances.

AVOID.PLACE IS A RIP OFF

Avoid this place it is not worth the money. you will pay massive amounts of money to queue all day. Spend the money in the arcades you will enjoy it more. We paid £70+ to go on two rides, get soaked then had to leave.

There is no hurry for them to get you off and on the rides, they already have your cash.

Very overpriced for what you get and the park needs updating .Most of the rides are still the same from my younger days and need replacing. However all the staff were friendly and helpful and the queues when visited were minimal allowing us to ride many times .However if when busy it would definatly not be worth it and not as fun. Also there should be a option for people who are not going to go on the rides to get in without paying as they can't access the rides anyway as you have to scan to get into the ride and it shows the person's photo anyway so it's just the paying person who can access the ride any way

Absolute rip off!!!

It would amount to over £160 for family of 4. I was not planning on going on any of the rides, yet I still have to pay £47 to walk around. In fact, there is no way we would of gone on £160 worth of rides with the 2 little ones.

The pricing system Is absolutely ridiculous! How can this be justified?! There was another couple at the gates walking away, complaining about the exact same thing.

We decided to go the the piers instead, where the rides are priced appropriately.

Can someone from management justify, how say for example, you can charge a pregnant women or a OAP for just walking around the park?! Makes no sense whatsoever!

Lovely day out

I visited Blackpool Pleasure Beach in April 2022. Being from London I am used to Chessington, Thorpe Park etc where the queues are miles long and the rides last literally 1minute. The queues at Blackpool are nothing like the queues in London, the rides last much longer, the staff are friendly and the food is reasonably priced. I would definitely return. Great value for money.

Went to blackpool pleasure beach with daughter and granddaughter I would not be going on the rides and wanted £46 for me to walk round the park and buy there coffee and food and charging me £46 to do this
Sorry but I walked away and went shopping whilst the 2 girls went on the park and I was not the only 1 this morning to walk away
I would have paid half entry fee but to charge £46 is just pure greed SHAME ON YOU ripping people off
Not been blackpool for a few years and is looking like a dump so I won't be visiting again

Absolutely disgraceful, Pleasure Beach Adventure Golf

Absolutely disgraceful. the 12 holes for Adventure Golf have been increased to £15 per person. As a family it cost us £60. This is borderline fruad, once you have promised everyone a game you can't back-track. I feel sorry for the staff you have to put up with numerous complaints. The Pleasure Beach should be ashamed of themselves, I doubt they will respond to this!

Ripping off families and using Covid as an excuse

I was really looking forward to taking my young kids to the pleasure beach for the first time. When it came to purchasing tickets I could not believe the rip off pricing. My wife wouldn’t be going on rides but would have to pay full price. My kids are 4 and 2 so there are only limited rides they can go on and with taking young kids, I would not be able to go on the big rides anyway. The day would have cost us around 150 for the day. How do they expect families to afford this and how do they think it’s good value, especially consider some of the huge queues. They’re also using covid as an excuse not to sell the non riders ticket and it’s just wrong. The entry price is fine for adults and older kids but with the new scanning system on the rides, they’re really missing a trick. They could offer family tickets which only allow you on certain category rides, like Fantasy Island offer. They could also allow non riders back in for a reasonable price. I don’t understand why they haven’t done this since the Thompson’s have been great owners in the past. Pricing out young families will only damage the future of the Pleasure Beach. I’ve fed back my feelings but unfortunately haven’t received any response.

Would not go here. Steal Money

I went there will a group of my friends and it was shocking rides breaking down, rides getting shut down due to the heavy winds, people injuring themselves, Disgusting toilets and a lot more things. So if you don’t want your money stealing go to another theme park where the prices are cheap. Another problem is the prices of speedy pass and VIP speedy pass. Normal speedy pass cost £25 pp and VIP costs something like £60 pp.

I would go again if they renovate the entire park so it look like the 21st century and not the 19th century.

Do NOT take your kids here!

Seriously, if you’re after a fun day out with the kids, go to Alton Towers, Thorpe park, etc... anywhere but here!

Its insanely overpriced (before AND after you get through the doors), the staff are miserable and rude (and clearly don’t give a toss), there’s nowhere at all to eat unless your preferred diet is donuts and burgers, and worst of all (this REALLY pissed me off tbh) the endless queues destroy any excitement your little ones may have had building upto the day.

Buy a convoluted e-ticket to limit numbers you say!?
Absolute bloody tosh

Dirty, outdated, run-down park ‘managed’ by money grabbing tossers

Won’t be going back again
