I don't think it gets any worse than dealing with Customer Service at BMO, especially when you need access to your own money. Today, the representative pronounced his name "Ahman" with his accent, and I misunderstood, thinking it was "Ahmed." He became very upset, accusing me of discrimination - wait - for mispronuncing his name! It's ridiculous that you'd use something like this to prevent me from withdrawing my money. The phone customer service is awful. took 3 calls to get to the department i wanted and then was disconnected and had to start all over with a new rep. I pressed 2 multiple times to get to loans and i still had to be redirected by a person once off hold. They didnt put me through to the department either, they gave me a new number to call which i was then put on hold again and told to press 1 for loans.

I am a former BOTW business customer and inherited this "bank". I have had nothing but trouble with them since the transition. Their interface is complicated-my accounts live in a different place than my credit card and payments are difficult to make. The customer service team is short, rude, and don't understand what you're asking half the time. I have had trouble Every Single Time I've had to do even the simplest of things with them and I cannot wait to disentangle my business from BMO which is the last thing I want to be dealing with as a small business owner. Thank you for your letter dated April 26, 2024. You tried very hard to justify your massive misconduct and unprofessional manner in treating your clients!
After reviewing the information in your letter, I found there is not even one single negative point on that report, except “Lack of recent installment loan information,” which I did not need to get a loan; therefore, that is, of course, a negative point in your strange criteria, it seems you guys are trying to push the people to apply for your loans and be under debts in this economy situation!
The second excuse is “No recent revolving/bankcard balances;” wow, of course, that’s because I was not using my card for a few months. The last but not least is the first excuse, which says, “Length of time accounts have been established.” Those geniuses who reviewed my file must know that based on the length of accounts establishment, I did receive my master card from Bank of the West with a $7000.00 balance!
Now I must apologize to you guys, as a group of professionals active in the money market in the US, for being a self-conscious individual regarding my personal finances. I have achieved an excellent credit history, and I try not to go under loan burden as much as I can. This type of attitude definitely has no room in your company’s criteria!
For your information, my recent credit score with one of the most prestigious financial institutions nationwide is 810 out of 850, which marks an excellent status.
Considering some of the working environments, they do sometimes become dull and turn an even talented employee into a pure pen pusher.
Put it in a nutshell, lowering your client’s credit limit without any advance notification, at least by forwarding a simple text or an email, is unethical, unprofessional, inexperienced, unskillful, and inhuman, and it violates all the rules and regulations of banking systems unless this is a purely modern innovation of the modern banking system in the US!
I do expect from you guys to send me your banking regulations that has my consent in writing, in advance, that if your issued credit card is not used for a few months, you have the right to lower my credit limit or even cancelling my account and ruining my credit history.
If I do not receive your response, I do share my experience with your banking system innovation with people on the Internet.

Tried to pay my property tax bill today and from the very start I knew there was going to be a problem getting it paid. I waited for the condescending teller to tell me they could not find the Government Institution by which I could forward the tax money too. Imagine a bank which has millions of people and companies plus Government companies and Institutions etc that it deals with and this teller couldn't find the one I was to pay my bill to?? I started to tell her that the bill says it can be paid at Any Bank and In Person. She told me they don't have the Payee on file. She showed me a list and went through it and it wasn't very long. I said to her I want this bill paid now and since when does a Bank not accept Property Tax Bills? As far back as I can remember we could always pay our Property Tax Bills with very little effort at any bank. I looked at all the other costumers in line and loudly said,"How do people in Ontario pay THEIR Property tax Bills?" This foolishness went on and on until I of course gave up in frustration from a teller that was obviously not going to HELP me as BMO's slogan goes, "How many we Help you today." She obviously did not know how to look over the Bill to find the Right Government Institution that required the Payment.

This is the worst bank to deal with ever. Since day one my card was not able to purchase anything online and I've went to the branch several times to get it resolved with nothing. I switched banks and they kept charging me monthly fees and seeing that I wasn't depositing any money into that account and then they decided to take me to collections for it. Not even a single phone call to me to resolve the balance. Such a joke bank

Was charged $550 for a taxi ride in Mexico city. The credit card claims department would not even open a case to look at it. I spent three hours on the phone and for a most part received horrible service. I was so offended in this process I have decided to close the following accounts with BMO -

I have been with BMO for over 30 years. The attitude was if you want to close your account that is your choice. I am not closing my account because I want to. I am closing my account because I will not do business with companies that rob from me. Where is the client protection insurance from my credit card. Right, it is a complete joke.
BMO used to be top class in customer service, but someone over there decided to cut one to many corners. I am sure i am not the only one who is being completely disregarded. I am embarrassed for them.
They can give someone else $600 to open a new checking account on one of their promotions. HERE IS THE PUNCH LINE. IT IS VERY EXPENSIVE TO OBTAIN NEW CLEINTS. MAYBE MAKE SOME EFFORT TO KEEP THE ONES YOU HAVE. Just a humble suggestion.
This ship has sailed, but I will be sure to bring it up every time someone says the word bank, and let them know just how horrible the customer service with BMO is.

Just awful. A lady with African accent called me and put the phone down on me. Then called me again saying they need further proof of identification following my online credit card application. I asked her what is the ultimate scope, since I am not comfortable giving my information to the first person who calls me in this time and age and she repeated the same information 3 times shouting at me, saying she has been with the bank 14 years yet not answering my question because she could not understand it. If this is true, then she has terrible skills and she should not bring her home problems at work. BMO, straighten up your customer services. For the time being I will stay away from you because of such people like this woman (based on phone psychology I would say she is late '30s, early '40s, on the big side and around 5'8 from the way she projected her voice). Shame on you BMO for employing people like her to shout their stupidity on the phone: I need no abuse in my life or to start my day, even at 10.39am.
