Never go to south park mall's BAM!
Never go to south park mall's BAM! unless you want a associate name Jennifer to assault you and almost grab you I hope somebody fires her for it I recommend never going there
Unreliable liars.
This company is extremely unreliable on online orders. Even on a pre-order. If you question your order more than once they will can wl your oder themselves and say its out of stock. Umm this was a PRE-order so as you know a pre-order is when you place an order for a product before it is officially released or available for sale. This allows you to reserve the item and often guarantees you will receive it as soon as it becomes available. So tell me how its out of stock when my order was put in BEFORE it was even IN stock.
BAM tries
BAM tries, but underperforms.
Today’s visit: after checking out with over $200 in books, was informed BAM had gone “green” and no longer provides bags gratis. Naturally, there were bags for sale. This represents part of BAM’s slow degradation of customer service. Go woke, go broke.
Upon arriving home and reviewing the receipt, discovered BAM’s check out system charged $175 for an item marked at $167. Frustrating.
Got Overcharged and BRUTALLY invalidated
I made an order and got charged an extra 6 dollars for shipping. I contacted live chat support multiple times and explained to them about the overcharge. They all spoke down to me as if I didn't understand how the fees work. I even took a screenshot and circled the areas in red that showed I was being charged more than the original price and the person named Shannon told me I was wrong and that no matter who I speak to I would be told that I was wrong after I asked to speak to someone else.
She never took the time to do the simple math which would have told her there was an error. I have never been so invalidated in my life over a purchase. It was brutal. It took me to call in and explain to another service rep who smugly, by the tone of her voice, also told me what I was saying was false.
After several more minutes they were able to see that a duplicate of my order had been made in their system with different totals one with the overcharge and one was the correct one.
The entire time I was completely calm but I was and still am absolutely fuming on the inside because it hits so close to my personal life of constantly being told that my experiences aren't true and don't matter, but I digress. I got my refund after that trial and tribulation! I'm afraid to ever place another order here again.
"In stock" means never ship and no refunds
Ordered "in stock" books over two weeks ago. they immediately charged me and nothing since. No updates. I went to cancel it on their website but clicking the refund button or help button just returns a webpage error. Classy. Looks like a credit card charge back is in order. What a joke of a company. Zero chance i ever try and buy from them again.
Don't Give BAM Your Money
Terrible company; terrible/zero customer service. Delayed shipping. No accountability if your package is lost, misdelivered, never delivered. The company will blame the postal carrier.
Inferior Shipping Material
The book I ordered was a signed copy and was something for my collection but the shipping material did not protect the book and now the corners of the book are damaged. Do not buy collection books from Books A Million!
Ordered books with my gift card and…
Ordered books with my gift card and small balance on my credit card. Called immediately when the gift card did not apply to final payment and they could not correct it, could not cancel the order, it was too soon, (45minutes ago) using a third party (can't get into the system)- nothing. I was told to login the next day (weekend) to chat with their reps to cancel. I just called the credit card company and stopped the payment- 5 whole minutes not going to waste time chatting or calling BAM customer unservice. I even regret the time spending typing this, but if it helps someone else, so be it.
Do not rely on them for preorders
I placed two orders for pre-order special edition books in March and April of 2025. I kind of forgot all about them until I started seeing social media posts of other people receiving the books. I logged in to check the status of my two orders and they both said canceled. I never received an e-mail or any notification that they were canceling my orders and still am unsure why they did so. Very disappointing since the books are now sold out.
Stop emailing me, FFS
Impossible to get off their email mailing list. 10-20 emails a week. Unbearable. Their unsubscribe doesn't work and I am not even member.
Website is insanely slow, no ApplePay
Website is insanely slow, unresponsive, constantly crashes, unable to check out, and doesn't offer Apple pay making it difficult to even check out. Like it's 2025, how do you not have ApplePay. Tried checking out with Paypal...nope checkout will time out and crash. I guess I'll go buy books from other sites. So done with this site.
Do not order from them
Do not order from them. I placed an order for a book and did not hear back from them for over a month. When I contacted customer service, one representative stated I would get a refund and then when I followed up another rep told me she would not allow the refund. Mixed messaging and terrible business.
Cancelled without warning
I pre ordered a book back in June 2025 which was due to be delivered in mid September in time for my daughters birthday. When I followed up in Sept about the order they told me that the warehouse had run out of the book and my order was cancelled. No warning and too late for my daughters birthday
Company is a scam
They would only verify my order by my credit card after trying to sell me some scam promotion- wouldn’t look up my order by the order number- when I said no to giving them my credit card- they hung up on me. Whole company seems like a scam.
Updated review
Update: It took several weeks to receive any update on a book I ordered. I wish their website had said the book was out of stock or would take weeks to even ship it, as I had ordered it for a group that had a set date. After my original review, their customer service leadership reached out to me so I do appreciate the communication. I still think they could be more clear that it takes a long time to receive your order.
Update again: I still have not received the book and it has been OVER A MONTH since I placed the order. I received a confirmation it was being shipped on 9/9 and it's now 9/23 and I have not received the book. I would not recommend purchasing a book from this business, they are very unreliable.

Morons
Ordered a pre sale book that has taken close to a year to ship. Since ordering I have moved and one of the first things I did was delete my other addresses and made sure the only address on my account is my current one. I have checked multiple times to make sure that my changes were saved. Yesterday I received an email saying my book was shipping. They are shipping it to my old address that doesn't even show up on my account and are blaming me for moving. Not sure why they allowed me to change the shipping address if it doesn't actually change the shipping address. They are pathetic. Will never order from them again.
Cancelled Order Without Notification
I ordered a book for a class I'm taking on 8/18/25 and when I emailed to check the status (as it has not arrived yet) today 9/2/25 I got an automated response that it had been canceled! They gave no notification of it being cancelled which is ridiculous considering I ordered it for school.
*Resolved* Having to fight for a refund
*Resolved to satisfaction on 8/19/2025 via a manager reaching out personally! Updated review to reflect the stellar customer service received regarding this*
I had ordered a book from BAM on 8/7/2025, that was listed as in stock on their website. The item shipped within 24 hours after being ordered. Everything was going normally until the package hit Dallas, Texas. 24 hours after arriving & departing, I received a notification that my package was out for delivery - it was but in the wrong state.
Confused as to why, I double checked all my info - convinced that maybe I had mistakenly entered something wrong such as a zip code. But my account, order confirmation, & even shipping notice were all correct down to the zip code. Checking their FAQ, the most I could find was info on when customers select the wrong address themselves, nothing regarding my situation - however I did notice a particular little policy, that once items are marked as delivered regardless of if their sent to the wrong address BAM does not issue refunds (the most you can receive is a one-time replacement or store credit). Now worried that despite the error not being on my end, I’d fall under this, I contacted their customer support via the form on their website.
While waiting I decided to do some digging to see if I can find a solution, leading down a rabbit hole of less than stellar reviews for a variety of reasons. Now increasingly worried, especially since it could take 24 hours at earliest for them to respond via email - I contacted their live chat support, which is when I was informed of the following:
After informing the rep of the problem, I was told that this was because the item was returned to sender, however the item had never been attempted to be delivered - in fact it never made it to my state! When I informed the rep of this, I was told that while it should have gone to Louisiana after arriving/departing the Texas facility - the Texas facility returned the item to the sender, & "this could be due to damage or other package issues". Upon further prompting as to what I was now supposed to do or what the next steps are to receiving my order, I was then told that I would be refunded once the warehouse processes the return. I had to inquire further about what this entails, which while I will receive my refund on my original form of payment they could not give me any specific timeline as to when I would be refunded. As the rep stated "it depends on how long the return process takes when it reaches the warehouse floor. Then from that point you will get an email & a refund that takes about 3-5 business days to post after it is issued".
So now I'm unfortunately waiting for a refund, additionally even once I receive it - I will have to look elsewhere as the book I ordered is now on backorder. The order was delivered back to sender on 8/12/2025 - & I am STILL waiting for my refund, I’ve had to contact customer service several times to follow up, at no point has my email ever been responded to that I submitted via their customer support form. The only way I've been able to reach anyone is via the live chat. It has now been 4 business days (as of 8/18/2025), & today after contacting customer support I was informed that the refund will be issued once the manager of the warehouse processes the return, & that returns are processed in the order their received (this is the first time I've been informed of this).
I would rate this 2 stars because, while they had quick and prompt customer service via the live chat option and this is the first genuine issue I’ve had with them - I had to constantly contact them to find out what’s happening, as well as I had to continuously prompt the rep for further info:
why was it out for delivery in another state > how could it be returned to sender if it was never in my state to begin with > what do I do next? How do I get my order? > How long does a refund take? Will it be refunded to my original payment?
After the first initial question or the second one at most, the remaining information should have been readily provided without prompting.
