A featured book signing

A featured book signing, with conservative talk show host Dan Bongino, was held at the Oplika Alabama location was a complete disaster today. Myself and several hundred other patrons drove an hour or more only to find out they were out of books! How in the hell do you advertise for weeks the book signing and run out of books? I’m sure Mr. Bongino was unaware of the problem. Management went out of their way to tell folks you had to “pre-order” once we arrived or we were out of luck. I personally noticed people walking out with 4 or five autographed books ahead of me…if they knew ahead because of the crowd why didn’t they limit the number of books so everyone that showed up could be accommodated? My last trip to Books-A-Million, this is why Amazon is the better option!

Next time it's Amazon again...

I chose to order directly from Books-A-Million instead of Amazon - BIG mistake! I should have read the reviews for BAM before ordering... According to tracking info, the order has been at the shipping facility for 4 days without having being moved! It has been a week so far since order has been placed, and no significant updates. Amazon keeps you in the loop, often offers no shipping/handling cost, and delivers in no time! That's why independent retailers go out of business: insufficient service and lack of communication.

I wish I had read about others…

I wish I had read about others experience before I ordered. Like many others what I have ordered from Books A Million (a figurene for my Grandson) for Christmas was ordered on 12-4-23. I have sent many requests for an update, received only one response saying they would let me know when it shipped.
It is 12-31-23, no requests for update have been answered, no package has been received. I will NEVER order from BAM again. Terrible (AS IN NO) customer service. No item, no idea what is going on or when or even IF I will ever receive my order.
DO NOT order from this company!

very slow shipping and hardly any updates….

I ordered 3 books as they had a great buy two get one sale on the 26th of November. I did receive one book fairly quickly and was quite pleased! As for the rest of my order, I waited about 2-3 weeks for any sort of update before I sent an email inquiring about the status. After a few days, my reply was that they can’t tell me how long my order would take or if they’d have to refund me all together. Now, December 27th, book #2 has been shipping for a little over a week and I can’t check the shipping status because the tracking ID doesn’t work. Two days ago I got my first update about book #3; after a month, they have finally ordered my last book from the distributor and will update me when they receive more information.

The price is reasonable, even when they aren’t on sale, but shipping can take quite some time with nearly 0 updates.

Ordered an autographed Lynn Painter…

Ordered an autographed Lynn Painter book for my daughter as a Christmas gift. Today I received a quick little note "Status: This item is no longer available and has been cancelled" oops too bad! It took them two weeks to send me that status. I am really disappointed and will never shop there again. Buy at your own risk.

Do not shop books-a-million: Still haven't received package after 4 months

Do not shop books-a-million. I ordered a textbook in early August and paid an insane amount for next-day shipping. The book proceeded to not get there the next day, or the next day, or the next, so I emailed them in they told me that my address was wrong and the only way I could have my package delivered was by "fixing" my address. I tripled checked my address and found it to be correct so there was nothing I could do. I reached out and told them this, and they essentially said suck-to-suck "fix your address". A few weeks later I was notified that it was returned to sender. Book-a-million not only refused to refund me, they refused to send my book unless I "fixed" my address. It has now been almost 4 months and I have still yet to receive my book or a refund. DON'T SHOP FROM THEM.

Awful

Awful. After reading the other reviews I was relieved that my item was actually in stock and shipped. Ordered the Akira Box for $150+ and it arrived unsealed (no clear wrap) and missing a book. CS said they would need "pictures of proof" to do a return. How do I provide proof of a missing book.

This has become a huge mess and other stores like Target and Amazon now sell this box set for $127. So I paid more for a faulty product and a headache. This was a gift and I doubt it will be solved by the birthday of the recipient.

Just bad in every aspect

Website is awful to use. They sell things they don't have and expect you to wait months even though it says 3-5 day shipping. I will never buy from them again

Expensive shipping with Thrift Books packing

Bought a hard copy of a signed book and had it shipped. Obviously, if you buy a copy of a signed book you want to buy and keep it in pristine condition.
The book was shipped in brown paper packing with no padding. The book arrived with the dust jacket spine was very wrinkled. The shipping charge was six dollars. It was mailed with the same care and protection used by Thrift Books (they ship for free). I’m just disgusted by that company.

17 days to get book after release date

I pre-ordered an autographed copy of a book in March of 2023, for a release date of August 1st. As of August 5th, I had not heard anything from the company, so I reached out to customer service, who said, “you’ll get a tracking notification when it ships today.” The next day I still did not have a shipping confirmation, so I reached out to customer service again, and they said orders were more than they expected and it could be another week or two before mine ships. All along I had been speaking to people in a book club who were having similar issues. A few people were told that they would not be receiving an autographed copy or the artwork that was supposed to come with the pre-order. Orders were cancelled. So I panicked and contacted customer service again. I was told it is an issue with the warehouse and they would reach out and find out what the issue was and email me when they knew. About 4 hours I received a shipping notification with tracking number, this was the 7th or 8th of August. I just received it today the 17th of August. I had paid for expedited delivery because I wanted to read the book on release day. I ended up buying it on kindle so I could read it (I actually had the book finished before they shipped it). The book was $17.99, I paid $29 which included tax and shipping. I paid $10 in shipping and it took 10 days to get to me. Everyone who pre-ordered from Barnes & Noble, Amazon, or Bookshop.org had their books on release day or at the very latest the 3rd of August. I will never buy anything from Books-a-Million again, no matter how much I want an autograph or art work.

I was in the store less than 30 minutes…

I was in the store less than 30 minutes ago buying 2 books and did not receive a receipt. I decided not long after I got them i wanted to return them but since I did not get a receipt, they wouldn’t let me, even when I was just in the store less than 30 minutes ago. The manager said they couldn’t find the transaction on the computer. Do not go there.

DO NOT BUY FROM THIS SITE

DO NOT BUY FROM THIS SITE. I ordered a book 4 months ago, they took the money out and I just got an email, after I've gotten a few saying it was in back order, the new email just informed me that it is no longer in stock. I will never use this site again and I want my money back.

35+ Days. No item. No refund.

Order the Pokémon booster pack for Christmas on 12/11/22 It was shipped on 12/15/22 and the item was returned back to sender 12/22/22 (Unknown reason & BAM doesn't know why it was sent back to sender either)

They got the item back and did not process a refund. I reached out 1/17/23 and was told they need to confirm with the warehouse department (even though the tracking confirmation is proof) I still waited a week, no reply. Have to dispute with my bank.

They stated on the website

"Both USPS and UPS only hold tracking information for 120 days.
We are not able to conduct a proper investigation after that point to take further action. We apologize for any inconvenience."

I’m sure this is their business model cancel package reroute back to them, drag it out so they don't have to do a refund.

First and last time ordering for them.
