I purchased an after market cruise…

I purchased an after market cruise control unit from Bridgewater Electronics.
They were most helpful with the pre purchase discussions offering to send me the wiring diagram so that I could check that the auto electrician would be able to fit the unit.
He was and did, but was unable to make the unit work.
However, on phoning at 16.50 on a Thursday evening, I was talked through the setting up of the unit.
Nothing was too much trouble.
I would most heartedly recommend Bridgewater Electronics for going that extra mile!
Thanks guys!

Technical support lacking.

Purchased a cruise control after being assured that support was available from them and the item came very promptly. The garage fitted the item and were unable to make it work for many days. The support from Bridgewater was only what was in the installation manual but they did send another control module which worked. The installation was delayed by Bridgwater not being able to diagnose the problem with the faulty control module for days. They said that they had never had a control module failure before. Problems were experienced with the the setup configuration and Bridgwater were emailed with detailed requests to try and solve the problems. They were asked many times if the cruise control used all the throttle movement. This question was repeatedly ignored. They either didn't understand the very simple question or they couldn't be bothered to reply. In the end I asked by email for the issue to be escalated to the technical support people. They didn't answer my email, the "support" persons boss came on the phone immediately stating that emails caused confusion and they would like to have things verbal. The guy said that he was the Managing Director and the issues could go no higher than him. There was no technical support available. They stopped replying to emails and ignored me. I had to go elsewhere to get my questions answered.
The inability to understand simple questions showed that professional support skills seemed lacking. The inability to escalate support issues showed that professional support escalation procedures were not in place. The request to conduct questions verbally rather than by email showed that they wanted deniability and not be taken to task for anything they said. They have an impressive website which gives the impression that they have much larger organization and better technical skills than they actually have. I am told that they are just two sales people shifting boxes.

A product is only as good as it's support.

My personal experience is that the technical support is sadly lacking. Communication is bad. The installation should have been done in two hours, not two days. Setting up should have taken half an hour not several weeks with no support available for weeks.
