I give this company 1 star and that's too high

I give this company 1 star. Part was ordered on 10 May Credit card was charged for a part that was NOT in stock. Tracking information was not provided for several days. As of 19 May tracking shows part is in fulfillment with no shipping date.
Call to cancel order. After a long hold time I asked the representative to cancel the order. They refused and said it was against their policy. The item isn't in stock or been shipped.
This is a scam company. I will be expected to pay a 20% restocking fee and shipping fee to return an item that not only is not in stock but not shipped as of now and they refuse to cancel the order. This issue will be going in dispute with my credit card company.
Learn from my experience. Do not use this vendor.

Service can't get much worse

Wouldn't cancel order even though package was still awaiting process. Item specifically said it would be shipped the same day and has not shipped yet 4 days later. Nearly impossible to get someone on the phone and does not respond to messages that concern cancellations on their site. Will not do business with again. Advise anyone who reads to look elsewhere for parts.

Shop Elsewhere

I ordered a replacement part on 4/24/26, I was told it finally shipped today, 5/6/2026. I'll beleive it once it finally shows up.
In the mean time I ordered the same part from a different supplier, it was at my door the next day.
I should have checked with the BBB, they urge caution if using this supplier.

The devil is in the details!

I made a order not noticing that 1 item (a gasket) was not in stock. After 2 business I checked on shipping and found that the backordered gasket was not in their possession so I requested that the order be canceled and that was denied. I was told that the order had been sent over to their shipping department (even though they didn't have the completed order) and that the order couldn't be canceled and that they would send out the order and if I would have to contact them to return the items to them at my expense and that there would be a 20% restocking fee.
Steer clear of Briggsstrattonstore.com!!

This store is terrible about lying to…

This store is terrible about lying to customers. I ordered two different part at different times in the last month first part I canceled the order they claimed to have it and they didn’t. Second part I ordered was on back order online but they claimed to have one, they didn’t. They constantly lied for 2 weeks. I canceled this order as well.

Ordered snowblower parts that said they…

Ordered snowblower parts that said they were in stock..weeks go by, I called and they said “sorry back ordered from our supplier, expect to ship end of the month”. Well another month went by and nothing. Called to cancel the order and the girl said “i can’t cant you have to reply to our email in 48hrs”.. another week goes by and still no email. Avoid this place and brand, it’s a scam.

I ordered snowblower skids

I ordered snowblower skids. They weren't listed as backordered. I checked the status later and saw it was backordered. I called on Jan 29th to cancel the order. Five days later I get an email saying it shipped. They don't answer any emails. Return policy makes you pay shipping and 20% restock fee. Absolute BS. Screw Briggs and Stratton.

They took the money before the items…

They took the money before the items were even received in their store from the manufacturer. It's been 10 days and they don't even have my part yet. Then when they get it it's another 48 hours before shipping with slow ground USPS. I said I'd like to cancel, and he said I can't cancel. Can't cancel an order before it even arrives at their own place? Then returning it costs me shipping again and 20% restocking fee. So, he profits on a return. Don't use this store!

This company is an online scammer

This company is an online scammer. I found the B & S part I was looking for and ordered it. Within seconds the dollar amount was charged to my credit card but it was multiplied by 6 times! Thankfully my bank flagged the transaction and declined the purchase. My credit card was also locked and I had to contact the bank's fraud division to get a new card.

I ordered a part from Brustrating Cancellation Experience with Backordered Itemriggs & Stratton…

I ordered a part from Briggs & Stratton Online Store, which was listed as in stock during checkout. After placing the order, I was notified of a significant delay (until October) due to backordering. I immediately requested cancellation, citing the company’s policy that allows cancellations for backordered items. Despite providing proof, customer service repeatedly refused to cancel, falsely claiming the item was "already processed for shipment" and insisting I wait for delivery and then pay return shipping plus a 20% restocking fee.

After multiple frustrating email exchanges, I finally succeeded in canceling the order via live chat. However, the initial refusal to honor their own policy and the threat of unnecessary fees reflect poorly on their customer service. This experience suggests a lack of transparency and customer focus, especially regarding inventory disclosures and cancellation flexibility. I advise others to proceed with caution when ordering from this company and to confirm stock status directly before purchasing.

Expected better

Very disappointed, I definitely expected better.
Placed an order for a small replacement part (fuel cap), order placement was fine, a couple days after placing the order, I got a projected 3-weeks fulfillment timeframe at which point I requested the order be cancelled. Within 24-hours I received a response saying that the order couldn't be changed as the item was in transit to their warehouse - this shocked me, it's within their system but they can't stop the order, didn't have the control processes in place (or didn't care) to do the more prudent thing. It was also at this point that they communicated the 20% restocking fee. My mindset, the product has not left your fulfillment center yet but you can't/won't stop it. So, by comparison to other online retailers, this is a 2-star experience with an emphasis on lack of customer focus and one that I'll not order from again.

Avoid purchasing from BriggsStrattonStore

Avoid purchasing from these people. When you place an order they do not tell you that they have to order it in. They do not tell you it’s not in stock UNTIL they charge your card and tell you it won’t be shipped for several weeks…yes weeks. When you try to cancel the same day they notify you that you have to wait weeks for the item they tell you can’t cancel because the order is in the processing stage. Totally a lie since the moron in customer service said could be canceled. Company is a scam and will charge you a bogus restocking fee if you return the item at your cost. Their customer service is horrendous. Do not waste your time or money with these clowns.
