Inexperienced and inept. Essentially a group of Marxist tree huggers who have an absurdly poor record ranging from persisting with virtually unused cycle lanes on main arterial roads into the city (which in turn cause grid lock and pollution), to having one of the lowest recycling rates in the country. Add to this their fabricated statistics in order to fraudulently obtain funds from central govt for more cycle lane schemes and you get the picture. Essentially a huge ‘Carry On’ like farce but without the laughs.

The worst LA in the UK shocking. Can’t organise rubbish collection never mind anything else. Awful.

What a shower of s**t this council are. I have lived in B&H for 21 years and the last few, since the green party have been running things, has seen a steady decline in living, working and care for our amazing city.
I dint know why tourists or businesses would want to come here as its expensive, dirty, choked with traffic and not a patch on 10 years ago. The city is falling apart and all the greens seem to want to do is ban vehicles completely from it.

Brighton and Hove has become a great example of how the Greens can ruin a once vibrant and attractive place to visit into a shambolic and quite unpleasant place to visit. They couldn’t organise a kids party if they tried. A ‘green’ agenda enforced without any consultation and complete lack of proper planning or consequential thinking. Lucky for them they’re public sector employees- they’d never last 5 minutes in the private sector where, let’s be honest, they know how to manage change and budgets. Absolute farce.

BHCC raving Looney Green party want to destroy it's City for the residents so visitors and tourists don't stand a chance, all they want to do is keep building student accommodation for those that pay no council tax and yet keep giving these nut jobs the vote, this is a council that have taken perfectly good working roads and caused carnage, pollution and traffic jams on purpose in order to then charge it's residents a congestion charge, this council discriminates against the disabled and promotes protests during a pandemic, removes parking bays and then to cover the cost of removing them increases parking costs by 15% an absolute laughing stock and anything but GREEN they should rename themselves the destroyers of what was once good. 😡

Having witnessed several emergency vehicles struggle to use both the seafront and the A270 because of barely used cycle lanes and poor road layouts, I know it will only be a matter of time before someone dies because of BHCC incompetence. And if this happens, I hope the Green and Labour councillors are held personally accountable, as they have been warned so many times.
These cycle lanes have also massively increased queuing on both roads, resulting in increased levels of air pollution caused by the standing traffic.
One of the Green councillors (Jamie Lloyd), has also confirmed in writing that ANYONE, taking a car on a round journey of less than 6 miles is being lazy. Try explaining that to a mother with 2 kids going to do the weekly shop. Or the person who needs to get somewhere quickly but can’t cycle due to pgphysical or mental challenges.
The city also has some of the worst recycling rates in the country due to their lack of focus on this important policy.
Car parking is the most expensive in the country outside London and local businesses will inevitably suffer as visitors come and experience a travel and cost nightmare, that makes Brighton totally uncompetitive.
Add to this their incompetence in providing a failed and costly transport programme for disabled kids to get to school (through a dodgy tender which went to one of their cronies) and it means Brighton and Hove is in danger of falling into massive disrepair, with an exodus of businesses who can no longer survive with the Greens at the helm.
And let’s not forget, they entered into a secretive coalition with Labour, meaning that there is no effective opposition (although the Labour councillors still claim “opposition allowances”).
This council also spend 76% of their time discussing national issues like nuclear weapons, when they should be concentrating on improving services ... especially as they’ve just hiked council tax by 5% and built thousands of extra places for student accommodation, although of course the students don’t pay council tax it can vote.
It is a scandal that should be thoroughly investigated by national government before the city is totally destroyed, physically and financially.

Terrible (unelected) council, they have ruined Brighton, deliberately causing congestion and pollution in our City by reducing road capacity on main roads with their so called temporary schemes making Brighton a no go zone, damaging businesses and tourism and endangering lives by holding up emergency services. All for an agenda which will make negligible difference in the scheme of things, instead of gaining support their behaviour (and contempt they show for their constituents) will just make people hate them and their ideologies. They do not consult with those they are affecting with their policies and worryingly have members that seem to be involved with businesses/groups that benefit from the policies they are implementing. Roll on the next elections!

What contracts ? They just award the work to the bus company owned by a member of the council, no tendering for the contracts takes place

Felling trees in nesting season, selling off green belt land for development, blocking roads making pollution worse and our record on recycling? Appalling

Lunatic council supposed to be green clogging up the city because they have made the roads so bad there’s hardly any shopping in town at the moment loads closing get your act together stop making it a town for students

They are anti businesses with their staff going out their way to harass you making life difficult, they seem to have a problem with people with a disability, they hate the environment and go out their way to cut down anything that is green and create as much pollution as possible, by installing so many cycle lanes that are never used, they are now building them in the sea, they go out their way to waste as much tax payers money as they can, by making sure they never have a meeting about anything local, how many local councils want to ban BBQs on the grounds of pollution, they go out their way to never listen to anyone local and only target the students, as no one else matters.

Absolutely awful council .They are supposed to be green but cause gridlock and pollution by installing unused cycle lanes .They block roads off for no reason .They cut down living plants which have been there for about 100 years to make way for more unused cycle lanes .Their recycling results are one of the worst in the country oh and they love buying plastic bollards for the unused cycle lanes .Their consultations are biased .I could go on and on ,Thet are arrogant discriminating and inexperienced who couldn't organise a p.....p in a brewery .Oh and they discuss nuclear attacks at local level ,enough said !!!

I’m gutted I had to give at least one star, they don’t deserve one star.
Yes we all need to be more environmentally aware but wow, the greens have it so wrong. They have taken away so much road space (to encourage non existent cyclists) this is causing huge amounts of pollution, not only on the roads the lanes have been put in, but also residential roads what the locals are using for ‘rat runs’ to avoid the congestion. It would be great if we could all cycle everywhere but some people physically can’t cycle. There are also a lot of people who live in Brighton and need a vehicle for work or to get to work.
One of the ‘temporary’ cycle lanes was installed over night without any consultation with residents, they just woke up to gridlock and increased pollution.
Both cycle lanes along the seafront and old shoreham road have ‘wands’ in places to separate they cyclists and motorists, this also prevents emergency services to pass the traffic, the fire station and ambulance station both have ‘wands’ directly outside preventing them from passing the traffic.
Brighton has so much history and some fantastic architecture that they are just leaving to rot and decay. They even ‘accidentally’ cut down Europe’s oldest living wall!
They don’t listen to residents views and opinions (when the residents are actually asked) in fact they manipulate their data to go in their favour.
They are also anti disability, they have decreased the number of disabled parking bays on the seafront and the few that are there now, have 2 cycle lanes either side. (Yes, 2 cycle lanes within a few meters)
They like to waste money too, one example is they installed and dug up a device that counts cyclists as they didn’t think it was working so they installed another one. The first one worked, there just wasn’t many cyclist using it, although with the councils manipulated figures they will tell you the number of cyclists has increased.
If any of this encourages you to come to out once lovely city, good luck on finding a parking space as motorists are not welcome in our gridlocked city. Also be prepared to pay around £20-£25 to park for 4 hours

The council that doesn't listen to the taxpayers and businesses , but would rather roll out the personal political agendas of the council officers and Green and Momentum councillors. Needs to be in special measures ASAP. Simply not fit for purpose!

If you are looking for exceptional leadership, great budgetting skills and amazing planning then look no further then the Green led BHCC. So far they have managed to dig up all main arterial routes to and through the city causing the emissions to skyrocket to unseen levels. Another great example is the neglect of the Madeira Arches, but don't worry they'll soon dissapear like the old West Pier and be replaced by some monstrosity paid for by B&H taxmoney.... Talk about tax money... When are the i360 repayments coming or has that been pushed under the rug already?
As you all know we love our events and tourists, so to treat them we have made Madeira Drive 1 way, 1 lane and not 1 but 2 cycle lanes.... That nobody uses, especially when wet, because it's just a tad slippery. Don't bother to come and see if you have a disability as they removed most disabled bays. Thanks to that and the fact they made it so narrow we also killed off the oldest motorsport event globally: The Brighton Speedtrials.
And cycle lanes... Yes the ones they marked out entire lanes for... Amazing clear space as hardly anyone uses it, except for parking on a busy day. Surprise surprise if you remove most parking bays.
I could go on and on but I think you got the point

Vote them out, even better if your reading this BHCC, vote of no confidence in the entire council and start fresh.

I thought it was bad the last time BHCC had a green leader but this administration has gone beyond their incompetence. Won’t be happy until they enforce a congestion charge. That won’t happen as before long there won’t be any businesses left. Green Party bunch of incompetent half wits who shouldn’t be allowed to sit in the chamber let alone be in charge

Very poor Council making awful decisions. Wasting huge amounts of money and no workable scheme to look after the heritage of Brighton and Hove or implement schemes to help traffic in the City. Need investigating by Government.
